Character Object to Unreal

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am currently working on some character animations for a game (made in Unreal Engine). I am using the native preset rig that C4D offers, the "character object". The character itself is made up of a few separate meshes that are placed in a null and skinned to the rig. Almost all of the meshes have pose morphs that are also animated.

I am looking for a way to bake/export the animations of this rig including the pose morphs to an FBX that can be imported in Unreal. I have already tried the Smart Export plugin from Cineversity which didn't work (for some reason it keeps the pose morphs animations but the joints are static). I assume the animations of the controls somehow need to be baked to the joints themselves, but can't seem to find out how.

If you have any suggestions or could point med in the right direction I would be very grateful 🙂
