Modelling a Fountain Pen

Hi guys, welcome to first of hopefully many mini challenges. This time main point is to learn together and have fun. There will not be any time constraints or usual competition. Simply take upon the task and share your work as you go.

 

Goals:

  • Create best topology you can.
  • All quads
  • UV Unwrap
  • Share some info on how did you tackle your modeling

 

Allowed Software:

  • Cinema 4D
  • Houdini
  • Blender

Thought I'd have a quick pop as well, as it's been a quiet day... I'm modelling in Cinema. Just doing the base mesh for now...

The Ink feed is a fun bit 🙂 Several modelling challenges there, not least the transitioning of profile from rounded to square, and the different levels of roundness required top and bottom in 2 directions...

I will probably need to redo the nib section, because although it might be winning from a quads only / polygon efficiency point of view so far, and it's even enough to bend nicely, I am not sure it is even enough for sculpting the fine carved details, which would be my plan next...

Indeed quiet but still working on it...I am not happy with the top part of the cap, so Ill have to re do it. Also one more part left...that one will be quite challenging.
