Plugin List | First Look | Help Needed

Recommended Posts

So guys as idea came from another topic, I would need a bit of help here. Please if you encounter interesting plugin worth mentioning please share it here as I will be creating a new database just for the plugins.

I already have idea how this will look like, I just need enough material to work with, so any help is more than welcome.

Please share a link and few words what the plugin is about, then Ill do the rest.

Here is the glimpse of how this will look like:

There will be 12 plugins listed per page. Devs who are contributing to the site with  Contributions or Affiliate programs which was suggested by Kent, will have more exposure all around.

Also if you have any suggestions, let me know.

Cheers & Thanks :cowboypistol:

With the reorganization and changes of the forum in the past there are quite a few plugins which ended up in the C++ and Python subforums. Are we supposed to mention these as well, or how would we, 3rd party developers, need to go about getting these moved from their old position into the new list ?

Well we can do this in few ways. One way would be to allow developers the access to add content to on that page and to fill content as they see fit, but with some rules, mostly visual so that all content is also visually appealing.

Question is do we use this page only for the list as informational source, or we use it also for comments and reviews and usual discussion. Thing is how to make sure everyone is on the same page. People often don't read rules or any guidelines thus we have confusion sometimes.

Then there is a Download section which will stay there for anything that's free. But again, it might confuse some. Ill think about this a bit more to see what would be the best way to handle this.

Any suggestions are more than welcome.

If this new plugin list is a page with just placeholders pointing to topics anywhere on the forum, that's fine by me.

Then there is no particular need to "upload" a topic into the plugin list page. Each plugin can have its own thread (for discussing) anywhere in the forums, and the plugin list page is just a list of placeholders, which you can adjust: adding, removing, rearranging plugin entries.

But I am not sure if that is the way you envision this plugin list.

Since you mention it to be its own database, I would expect you can't simply refer/point to topics outside of that database, right?

I could always link things to where ever is needed inside the plugin container.

OK! Then that answers my main question if we need to relocate existing plugin threads -> we don't. 👍

Hmm, it might be that I misunderstood you or you misunderstood me. What I cannot do is to directly link an image to a link to another topic outside this database. But what I can do is to post a link inside the topic database. So if you would click on the image in that Plugin List database, you would be thrown to a special lading page for this plugin which would look like this

and then here, you would be able to put any link you want, add tags, make comments and reviews and so on...

If thats not the way to go, then I would have to find another way. Right now I dont have good solution for using images just for placeholders which would be able to have custom links.
