Is it possible to change the objects cuts when subdivison is on?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if im talking at the wrong place, but as the title said, is it possible to change the object cuts to a specific one when subdivison surface is on, im trying to make something like the knife cut will be added onto a object when subdivison surface is on and it will be gone when subdivison is off, but i don't really know how to do, anyone knows how to make?

That's a bit of an ambiguously phrased question. You cannot place cuts directly into a subdivision surface until you make it editable. Until then it is a generator, relying on the inputs of the base mesh under it so you can only cut that while it is live. However it is perfectly normal to change topology and add cuts to a base mesh while it is under subdivision, and it makes no difference if that SDS is on or off at the time - that is normal modelling practice.

Your view should be most usefully set to isoparms to make full use of this.

In case you mean you want to make cuts in the SDS result, to make an SDS editable, first go into its attributes and set RENDER value to be the desired output level, then press 'C'.
