Redshift: Add Color Variation to Scattered Assets

Recommended Posts

Hi there,
I apologise if this question has been asked before or is in the wrong forum.
Does anyone have a guide or tutorial they know of which explains how to add slight color variations to scattered vegetation (or any object) in Redshift Cinema 4D?
There are plenty of guides for creating a multishader for clones, particles etc. But none seem take in to consideration adding this as a small color variation to scattered assets that already have their own material as well?

Any assistance or a point in the right direction would be appreciated!
Thanks
MJ

Hi There,

To get the colour variations you have to add simple Random Effector to your mograph. Make sure you not affecting any parameters. Only thing to change will be the Colour mode - Set it to Effector, and i usually click the Alpha on as well.  ANd the Random mode can be change to get different results.

Then in the material editor add RS Color User Data>Atribbute name set to MoGraph Color

And that User Data connect to a mix or color layer with your texture, that will give some variations.

No, unfortunately it doesn't.
The only C4D shaders that are supported in RS are those that can 'baked' into texture files on the fly, So basically things like pattern generators, gradients etc. Even in that case, C4D shaders they are only available in materials created in the Xpresso based Shader graph - not in the new nodes material workflow.

But, as Hyyde points out above, you can access some Mograph data through RS 'User Data' properties.
