scale UVWs with Geometry modifier group

Hi there,

I would consider myself to be technical interested and for example find my way around xpresso quite well. Blender geometry nodes are at least for the simple tasks more or less self explaining, but scene nodes.... no chance for me to get anything done without a deep dive. Unfortunately I have not time for that 😞

I would like to scale the UVWs of an object (parametric or polygonal) with a scene nodes Modifier. Unfortunately I can not find anything about UV related scene nodes in the web.

Maybe someone here can help me?

thanks a lot in advance

Hay Guys,

thanks for the response. I didn't have the time to look in and check it out yet, but anyway massive thanks 🙂

@Hrvojethat sounds exactly like what I would want. I was close, but I didn't know the get and set node have a mode. I will check it out as soon as possible.

all the best,

Jops

just to give a update. I am just not smart enough for these nodes. I couldn't get it work and I din't find information on that subject on the web.

I solved it with a python node in xpresso, that changes the values in the last material node of a object.

I am quite disappointed. with myself, but also with the nodes, that are so f.... complex. Even though more possibilities are always welcomed I have the impression, that scene nodes is just absolutely not c4d like. it is even for a node setup couterintuitive or whatever. At least I know nobody that really can use it.

thanks anyway as always,

Jops

This would be a setup to modify every UV position using a matrix. You can translate, rotate and scale

Would it be possible to mimic the Cubic (World) projection with this setup? That would result in an uniform UV scaling over multiple assets? Would be nice to use it with Corona Patterns that are configured to work with the Cubic mapping?

Not this specific setup since this applies the exact same function to all UV points. However if you process all UV points separately and reposition them according to a projection of the related geometry point position you can create your very own UV projections. It is a good deal more complex than this example though.

Hi @srek,

thank you very much for that. If you know how to do it, everything is always easy. Personally, I think that even such a simple circuit belongs as a preset in the asset browser. It would be great if there was an easy way for the community to do this. In this way, many higher-level nodes would certainly be created that would eventually make the system usable for people like me. thanks again and all the best

At last I managed to make the setup. Thanks srek it is working. Maybe you can tell me, why similar nodes in Xpresso and sceene nodes have so different names? that might add to the confusion. for example Arithmetic vs Math or compose Vector vs. real to vector?

thanks again and have a nice day
