  1. judging from the first generation of M chips they will be super efficient, and most probably also be very performant. My guess is, that they will compete with workstations as notebooks might be no match. If it outperforms the competition it can be priced accordingly and in contrast to the Mac Pro these Notebooks are (most propably) unreached in performance, therefore I think that the prices are acceptable. It is actually the first time since the old cheese grater that the price seems acceptable for me. I would love it to be a pc notebook, but never the less I am happy, as competition is good for development. remember the days that intel was lonely on the top of CPU developement. nearly 10 years of near stagnation. Now we have 3 competing CPUs und even 4 competing GPUs with intel and apple also in the game. I am really eager to see those benchmarks.

  3. From the album: Matches' Makes

Sculpted and textured in ZBrush, hair groomed in Cinema 4D, rendered with Arnold, and finished in Photoshop.

  4. Just saw this new Honda commercial. I'm going to guess this is 95% CG with a shot or two of real cars. Would love to know the software and/or render engine. I know it's the artist, but I always like to know. This is the studio that created it: https://makemakeentertainment.com/a52/reels/cg-reel/

  6. Gouraud shading without lines is command 12091, so you just need to replace 17105 by that (in both occurrences!). The same way you can use any display mode command. You just need to know the number of the command. You can easily find out: start the script log, then trigger the command you wish. The script log will show you a CallCommand including a comment. This way you can program all switches you desire. If you need a triple switch, you can do that too - the following script switches between Gouraud with lines, only Gouraud, and wireframe cyclically: import c4d if c4d.IsCommandChecked(17105): c4d.CallCommand(12540) # Lines elif c4d.IsCommandChecked(12540): c4d.CallCommand(12091) # Gouraud Shading else: c4d.CallCommand(17105) # Gouraud Shading (Lines)

  7. SetFrozenPos/Rot then, with a zero vector as argument. The description in the docs should give you an idea what they do. The SetMg/Ml methods set the whole matrix, so that is probably not what you are looking for. When in doubt, just try them out 😉

  8. For me it only worked with classic shift click while cloner was selected.. then obviously it has to be repositioned in the hierarchy but the size was corresponding to the size of the cloner.

  9. AFAIK fluids are not yet implemented, there may well be on a road map but I think the main drive is to get Reactions fully functional..It really is a massive project in comparison to TFDv1..not an upgrade but a whole new concept. I have been very busy on non C4D stuff but i will be getting back to Reactions shortly and as soon as allowed I will be making tutorials for the C4D world...but I have to admit is still a bit overwhelming for me. My son has just finished a degree in programming so I hope he will come on board and master RAKE so as to teach me.

  10. I'm still using my iMac from 2010. It's long overdue for replacement but it's still ticking along. None of the PC's I ever had managed anything near that amount of longevity. I understand things may be better now, and that the ease of replacing parts, RAM and whatever brings additional benefits for anyone wanting to upgrade their PC. Just for me though I'm glad there are Mac options coming back again that look decent. I'd guess the new latest Apple silicon chips would run great with Blender, and would do ok with Houdini if SideFX ever look at getting things working on it - they might and they might not, who knows. But I wouldn't assume the various industry professionals popping up midway through the Apple video to tell us how happy they with its performance would be doing so if the machines ran like crap. There will surely be tons of benchmarks and comparisons and stuff online in the coming weeks too.

  11. They're expensive, sure, but I bought a Razer Blade 2 years ago and it's a piece of junk in comparison. I still do most of my work on an older iMac 27in. These Macbook Pros look mighty appealing for a next upgrade.

  12. If you are worried about price just hang out for the Mac mini M1 Max with 32 cores and 64 Gb RAM like I am going to. I jump for joy over my Mac mini M1 16 Gb RAM with C4D R25.010 and RS 3.057. I have forgotten what a crash Is like. I will switch from still images and back to animations when my render speeds will be off the charts. Currently all of my Adobe Creative Suite is rock solid and most are now M chip native. I am NOT going to buy a gorgeous MBP because I have no need for portability. I had no idea I had this much internal strength. In the meantime I will be reading feedback reports from those lucky souls who have their M1 Max. (For the record, my current machine was dirt cheap)

  13. As said before he really is a cool dude, if you bought a licence in say 2014..you paid nothing more and get updates to this day.

  14. I'd probably do it the other way round. Instead of trying to get a certain layer and finding out which objects belong to it, I'd iterate over all objects, using GetLayerObject() to check, if it belongs to the relevant layer (in the end in your case, it shouldn't matter, which layer it is specifically, as you are only interested in the visibility flags).
