  1. So I've been searching for the fastest easiest and least expensive ways to make decent HDRI's on loacation. I was about to drop $500 when I found this free app for the iphone HDReye. It works similar to some other cheats that use the google street view 360 feature, but intead of just taking a bunch of nomral images instead of bracketing a bunch of images at different light levels, this will take an HDRI with the bracketing at the same time. you still have to take like 50 images, but from your phone its soooo much easier. And it gives great light information. I was really focusing on trying to get a nice dirty car, but thought I would add that cool find! Trying to get some texturing that didn't look terrible took some time. I did some mattes with the specular and cheen, then I added a separate layer of dust on everything. getting those elements dialed in was killing the Arnoldas IPR renderer. I crashed so many times, impatient, lol. I'm really pretty happy with the lighting from the iphone HDRI as well. It's finally stitching of the images together had quite a few glitches, but for reflections and lighting it's fine, IMHO

  2. More sky RnD - this time with displaced terrain inside of Corona. Trying to get more comfortable with exteriors as I've always rendered interiors or shows/concerts and I want to know more about Corona displacement capabilities and how to use it better. Finally feel like I have atmospheric volumetrics under control....somewhat.

  3. Hello, Basically I want to randomize the renders somehow. Let's say I have 10 human bodies modeled, 10 haircuts, 10 types of shirts and so on. I want to render out different random combinations of these objects, without doing it manually. Do you have any idea how can I do that ? Thanks!

  4. I used to work with product and architectural visualisations for many years, but now I mostly do illustrations for books and tabletop RPGs. I’m attaching a couple of recent illustrations below. And I finally got around to making a portfolio on Artstation, if you want to see more: www.artstation.com/clarenceredd

  5. One of the first magazines on fantastic filmmaking (eg. horror, fantasy and special effects) out there was Cinefantastique. That magazine existed from 1970 to around 2006. I never subscribed as there are some genres that don't interest me (like horror or zombies) but anything relating to science fiction, stop motion animation, and/or Ray Harryhausen ended up on my bookshelf. In fact, it was the double issue on the Making of Star Wars that got me hooked on visual effects at a young age. Well...the loss of Cinefex (the journal of cinematic illusions) earlier this year when they announced that they have gone out of business has left a big hole in my reading list so I started searching the web for something on-line (who does print anymore?). This brought me back to my old favorite Cinefantastique: Cinefantastique Magazine: 1970-2002 : Cinefantastique : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Now, not every issue is found here for free, but 182 of them should keep me busy. I have always felt that knowing the old methods when people actually got their hands dirty to make something look real is a great way to inform your CGI skills on how to make something look real in the computer. 6. The only downside to the bypass is, that you risk being excluded from future updates at some point. Here's the most thorough article to the topic by Ars Technica. Everything is explained in detail, and some edge cases are solved in their comments. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/10/how-to-upgrade-to-windows-11-whether-your-pc-is-supported-or-not/ Very good read, if you plan to update.

  8. @dast Oh god, i never saw that documentation... I was so excited cause i found the plugin after a long time. Anyway, the fault was on my end, nothing wrong with the plugin. I just thought that it would work like other plugins by placing it at the installation folder instead of the preferences one... Then i copied it to the preferences and just forgot to remove it from the installation one... Yeah i know, but like i said i was so excited Thanks again dast, it's an amazing plugin!!! @bezoAnd of course, thank you for the help, without you i would still try to figure out what's wrong

  9. WOW this did it! Thank you SO MUCH @bezo! You are an absolute life saver!! Thanks!!! 🙂 Small aside: Did you get a "Magic Bullet" error when opening this project? I'd love to remove that from popping up every time as I don't recall using that for this project but I don't know how to get the error message to go away.

  10. Oh, that’s cool! A few years ago, I tried to convince the developers of the Hydra photo app to include something like this, but it never happened. I will give HDReye a spin (literally).

  11. Glad it worked out for you. However, the plugin contains documentation that describes how and where to install the plugin, depending the version of Cinema4D you are using. What was the reason that made you decide to install in both folders? Knowing why might help in provide better and more accurate documentation in the future.

  12. Yes, removing it from the plugins in installation folder fixed the problem. Thank you both guys!!!

  15. A completely red material indicates missing textures or invalid shader. So check your shaders; if you need more help, please provide further info, as Igor suggested.

  16. You need just single installation, two identical installations collide together. Keep just single in preferences plugin folder and remove it from installation folder...

  17. 6 dynamic elliptical gears with a hinge at the focus. Leftmost ellipse has an angular force (motor), others are passive. What do you think will happen ? Not what I expected 😀

  18. Note this Geometry Nodes. The "vehicles" take off and land in one attitude and move in another. From the topic https://blenderartists.org/t/geometry-nodes/1264425/1935 Some explanation in his channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/JacobMerrill/videos
