Bit if a tricky one today.... I am trying to animate a single object to walk that does not bend its legs...imagen a rigid toy. Attached is an example of what I want to do... In the example, I did a quick and dirty way of achieving this by having a separate Null object for each move in the correct place all parented.....
I was just wondering if there is a smarter way of doing this, as I want something less clumsy and a bit more flexible. I tried using constraints and expresso to hook up a switch that allows you to switch which leg null to follow (the other one would re-parent to the main object if it was not leading), but as soon as I put keys onto a second leg the character started moving to lots of diffrent weird locations...is there something a bit simpler I could use.

Ok, so I have spent the morning implementing your suggestions, as best I may, I have also switched to physical rendering. There's also a sky in there to give some reflections. and shadowing.
It seems like an improvement, but what am I missing. Thanks alot for the tips so far.
Hi Ya all,
I am making an animation and I want to have a top-down section that focuses on some cards on a plane background animated in a stop-motion fashion.
I set up a basic scene here and was looking for some suggestions on how I can go about improving the realism of this shot, realism has never really been something I was particularly good at. The scene itself is pretty basic. a couple of areas lights a main and a fill, and materials with a couple of basic with basic textured materials.
