  1. @Jops Ah rats. There goes that plan I'll reach out to Maxon Thanks jops Alex
  2. Hey Cafe Anyone got a perpetual r20 licence that you'd sell for something reasonable? I need a few to run on some old machines for teaching. I don't need all the bells and whistles of r25 etc I've seen a few on here for £1000's, can't really justify that, but if it was £100's then perhaps we could chat. Long shot, but can't blame me for trying... Thanks Alex
  3. morning @Cerbera very true, i've added a stripped back file to use as a demo. The end goal is the have the text deformed across a surface using a z-depth grayscale created separately. I'm using the gradient as a way to visualise that the gradient displacer is effecting each letter individually, rather that across the whole word. I could I suppose use texture displacement, but I feel there must be a way to do it this way too? Any pointers most welcome Thanks simple displacer problem.c4d
  4. I have a text object i want to effect with a displacer (gradient). All fine if i want to effect each letter with the same gradient, but how to I effect the whole word with a single gradient? Pretty sure it's because i'm tired.. is the answer staring me right in the face? Thanks
  5. @deck I tried your latest suggestion, but couldn't get my head around it... however. Incase anyone has this problem in the future, i found another work-around that was more in my comfort zone and allowed a fully editable workflow. Each jigsaw piece was an extruded spline which was then cloned in various ways to create the middle section, edges and corners of the jigsaw. To get the semi-broken up look, i used small plain effectors with sphere FIELDS which control individual jigsaw pieces all of which were in a clone of some sort. About 12 looked right, so not too bad. I could then positions these 12 scatted pieces as i wished, whilst still having fully editable geometry. Changing the texture changed the image and 'art directing' the scattering was simple The extrudes allowed some nice detailed control too with the jigsaw photo textures on R1 and C1 and a third on the rest for the grey paper edges.
  6. Hi @deck Ah I see! this does work... i've added in a 'push-apart and random' effector and get pretty good results. If i want to arrange the fragmented pieces one by one to give it a natural feel? Is there a click and drag approach? I saw something about using the cloner ID and Formula, but that seemed long winded... thanks Alex
  7. @cerbera - I've just done 5 min on the naughty step. I won't do it again and i'll eat my greens too! Shame there isn't a non-editable way... I'll have a play later Thanks
  8. Hi New style cafe! I have a jigsaw model, currently built with a series of clones although it can be made editable if that's easier. I'd like to apply a texture, but then fragment the puzzle and move the pieces around so it looks kinda half done. Obviously the texture needs to follow this movement. I then would like to be able to swap out the image and for the texture to be mapped appropraitely. kinda thought id be able to work this out but a few hours in, i'm turning to the cafe Any pointers? Thanks
  9. Awesome It was a close race! @bezo@jed Sorted with a back-up plan to boot! Cheers Alex
  10. @CerberaLike an eagle pouncing on a typo! ... very good I feared that might be the way... no biggie, thought i'd ask. Thanks Alex night night
  11. Hi cafe'er I have a sequence of fonts which degrade in a really lovely way, that i'd like to use in C4D. So there are 10 different separate fonts. I'd like to have the 10 fonts change over 10 frames in the timeline to show the same word degrade over time. I was surprised that there is no radio 'animate' button on the font selection box in Motext or Spline Text. Any thoughts how this night be possible? Mucho appreciated Alex
  12. @jed The link for your repaired arrow-maker is down? Any chance you can repost? Keen to have a play cheers
  13. Evening. I'm trying to create or translate the built in C4D Multi-shader with Index Ratio mode in Redshift. The goal is to have text from Motext that always has individually coloured letters in the same order. So let's say the colour sequence is Red, Green, Yellow, Blue. The word Yes would be Y, Blue, E, Green, S, Yellow The word Nope would be N, Red, O, Green, P, Yellow, E, Blue Seems like it should be simple but all i've found so far either rely of editable elements (which i don't want to do) or some very complex mapping of rays Any thoughts ? File of the C4D Multi-shader attached Tah Alex colouredletters_cafe.c4d
