  1. Wow Jed... it seems to do the trick! I'm gonna test it and get back to you later on Ok so now I want that the final spline keeps growing up (companies love to see that there's always growth in their history ) for this I think I can simply use a "Math node" to add a constant value to the y position of the "Y_amplitude" null object. Do you think it can work?
  2. Hello guys, I'm working on a project that requires a 3D timeline to grow in space and I was planning to build it procedurally via Xpresso. The first main obstacle I encountered is the possibility to "freeze" or "slow down" the time node that drives the Z-position of the null object (that will be traced to produce the 3D timeline). The "freeze" node seems to do the job, but there are two main issues: The switch option of the "freeze" node is an on/off button, I need to modulate it so that the time will slowly reduce its speed and then get back to it later. Once the pause is ended, I want the value to be the same as before putting on hold the time. I will attach here a screenshot of the Xpresso setup I have.. if you can give me some hints or suggestions I would love it. There is also the c4d project for you to test. Thanks a bunch :) cavolfiore Test_timeline_v02.c4d
  3. Thanks guys! I solved it buy import the texture in cinema and render them out with the distortion, it was not so time consuming as expected
  4. Hello everybody, Guess you can help me with this. I'm creating an opener that includes some geometries with glass shader; I was planning to put some cards behind the glass elements and show them just through the refractions. The obvious issue is that the textures I have to apply to the cards are not ready yet (they should be pictures of a crew) and I was wondering if it's possible to export from C4D the displacement map generated by the refractions and subsequently displace in post the texture that are gonna match the perspective due to the external compositing tag (applied to all the cards behind the glass elements) Let me know if it makes any sense to you:) Thanks guys cavolfiore
  5. ops sorry guys :) thanks for Your indulgence!
  6. Hi everybody, I am trying to resize a fbx scene exported from nuke. it includes some reference geo I have to follow in order to place correctly the actual model I am building. The point is that the size of the fbx scene is way too smaller to model in that size range, but if I try to scale up the scene, I loose the camera animation. I basically put the reference geometry and the camera in a null and I scaled it up, the geometry stays in its original position, but the camera loses its original position. My goal is to maintain the original camera animation, but in a more useful size range. Any ideas to fix this? Thanks in advance!! Cheers
  7. Thanks to everybody for their help... I've finished my project, now it's time to show it to the client and it will be even more painful, but I'm glad to have added some new knowledge to my backpack! :D
  8. Hi @Jed! Wanna thank You for Your support... I almost completed the animation and strangley I'm learning something new! Just a quick question: Right now the cycle of the cylinder is fine, but obviously I want the molds to move just in one direction and if I like them this setup they basically "cycle". Is there a way to tell those elements to move just in one specific direction following the cycle dictated by the cylinder? Thanks again Federico
  9. Ahah... all right then! I am a comp artist, but I reinvented myself as a junior 3D generalist to sell this animation. Did You watch the reference video I uploaded on facebook? Can You imagine a possible way to connect the rotation cycle of my cylinder with the movements of the moulds? I have no idea... guess what?!? I've correctly remapped the events! It's a big yey for me! How did You learn xpresso btw?
  10. @Jed that is really helpful! I'm currently animating the first cylinder and try to use another range mapper for the indentations. I find difficult to operate on the spline editor inside the range mapper node, I don't see any correlation with the timeline, I have a pdf document that tells me when the element should rotate and how much, but the graph editor plots just the range from min to max without telling You where You are in the timeline. Tomorrow I'll add one more challenge: Drive the molds!!! They have to slide and then move up towards the machine.. that will be funny!! Sarcastically funny! For now thanks Sir for Your support!
  11. Thanks so much @Jed, I'll take some time to study those! I don't get the meaning of the divide node, I guess it linearize the range as You explained me in the remark, but I'm a bit confused! Again... thanks for the amazing support! Have to start studying python in general, also for nuke
  12. Hello there HSrdelic, need to bother You for another thing. Is there the chance to set the first cycle of animation via keyframes? I need to tell the cylinder to rotate at certain angle and then loop it. For instance: the cylinder starts at 0°, then rotates to 60°, then rotates to 120°, stays there for some frames and then get back to 0°. Is that possible via Xpresso? Is there a way to set the animation and then loop it out? Thanks a lot!
  13. Thanks so much HSrdelic, I really appreciate your help. The question now is: Can I separately control the movement of the indentation? Unfortunately they don't move in synch with the cylinder. Let me rephrase this: Once the cylinder starts to rotate the indentations stay in place and just when the cylinder has reached a certain degree they start moving, I guess it's not a big deal, but let me know if it's possible! Btw: Do You know any valuable training for xpresso, I'm a nuke artist, I generally work as a comp, but this time I needed to get some 3D skills to finalize this project. Thanks again Federico
  14. Hello guys, I am trying to fix an old animation I've done. You can check the youtube link I attach here, I had to downres the animation for exclusivity rights . This is the basic concept: The machine You see it's supposed to dose chocolate into molds, the big cylinder You see is filled with chocolate and it rotates around its z axes, those white indentations rotate as well and push the chocolate into the molds. My first goal is to set the keyframes for one cycle of rotation of both the cylinder and the indentations and then I'd like to loop those via Xpresso if possible. The second goal is to link the rotation of the cylinder with the movement of the molds; you can see in the video that the molds move horizontally and once one of them reaches the bottom part of the machine, it moves up to receive the chocolate. Back to the first time I made this animation I used keyframes and plain effector to lift up the mold, but now i'd like to understand if it's possible to make a procedural animation so that if I change a value for the rotation of the cylinder, the rest of the animation would adapt consequentially. Hope I explained :) Here You have the link to the reference video: There's also a .c4d project where You can play around if You want to, I couldn't use the real 3D model since i can't redistribute them, but the point here is the animation and how to gain a better control over it. Thanks for time and kindness guys! :) Cheers :) Federico Animation_Setup.c4d
