  1. Could get the outline of the spline with this technique and then fill in the rest?
  2. Hello all So I am visualising a sign that will be made up of beer caps. ATM I am manually placing these in C4D, using a spline of the logo as a guide. I was wondering if there was a better (quicker) way to do this? I could clone a bunch of times and then fill in the gaps, but thats the only thing I can think of. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  3. Sounds like a fun project, I think this would take me over a year to get this to look nice! If I were to approach this I would initially block out the scene using primitives to try and get the composition right. Once happy, would focus on one small piece at a time until it was complete. The thing I think would be difficult is this is a flat image and therefore you can't see details on the back of things. If you wanted to view this at different angles, you would have to invent and design quite a lot of the scene from scratch.
  4. I also love how on their page under 'Tutorials; they have a recipe for Stuffed Bell Peppers.. One of the most random things I've seen in a while :)
  5. Just chipping in with a question as to why you need segments divisable by 2,3,4 and 9? (the 9 makes sense and it makes sense why you would need enough segments to start getting in the detail) I'm sure there is a perfectly logical answer :)
  6. This is the drinks bottle challenge? I'll give it a go!
  7. Thank you! Ill be sure to check that out later today :)
  8. Thanks for the speedy reply! I don't believe there are any Ngons (but please let me know where in case I've missed them).. The Boole (inner part) could be an exception, as I'd already mentioned. The Triangles, I know about and will elimintate. These usually occur when i'm trying to close a hole and I guess I got lazy with these parts, sorry! Is there any more specific info you can give me on points 3,4 and 5 ? ...Like I said, I want to be great at modelling one day so these are all valuable lessons! :) Mark
  9. Hey all and happy Saturday!..A bit of context. By day think in 2D (as a graphic designer). I'm fairly new to Cinema 4D. My favourite thing to do is to model and I would love to be an 'expert' modeller one day. I'm also interested in other areas of Cinema 4D but for now most of my energy, when thinking in 3D, goes to 'how would I make that in C4D?' .. I was walking through the Tube Station in London and saw this industrial plug and its form interested me (attached photograph) I thought it would be a challenge to model but just about achievable for me to work out. I'm fairly satisfied with the result but know my next model (whatever next catches my eye) will be a bit stronger. I tried to make the model all quads. The exceptions are: When I made the boole for the inner section and when I closed polygon holes. My problem is perhaps the bad distribution of the polygons and also how there is a large build up of geometry at certain points. I was wondering if any of you modelling experts could cast your eye on the model and mesh and give me some feedback. (Also I know there is a bit of a weird thing going on on the inside lid, since sorted) Also you can see a test animation of the Model here on my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mark_yonson/?hl=en Thanks all and have a good weekend! Mark
