  1. That would probably explain it then. My plan was to get the general shape first and clean up after to kind of speed things up...ooops! I'm finding I've forgotten a few things from those CYNCH days and no doubt that is costing me. However, i won't give up and will go in and do some tidying up. Thanks once again CBR 👍
  2. Hi CBR, I have submitted the reports to MAXON each time it crashes which is over a dozen times now over the past week. I am doing my AT-AT and there is no pattern, I could be extruding or adding control loops or anything else, my model isn't complex yet so not quite sure why this is happening. As for the drivers, my Mac is up to date, it has only been doing it since I started my AT-AT, see attached file. Rich AT-AT Walker_0004.c4d
  3. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this but my C4D R21 which I run on an iMac Pro keeps crashing. I am not doing any major modelling, just basic editing points and polys to get the result i need. It's beginning to do my head in, any help or reasons why this may be happening would be appreciated. I can attach a 'bug' report or the C4D file I am working on if that would help. Thanks in advance, Rich
  4. Perfect...especially when you know how. Cheers buddy.
  5. Thanks @Cerbera, I'm sure the video you sent me when we built that CYNCH unit last year had something like I had to extrude out some edges to remove the triangles or something. It's like creating a hole but I'm not making a hole, just want nice topology.
  6. To help refresh my skills in C4D, I'm just creating a Lego mini figure and the bit in question is the top of the head. I appreciate you won't see it but I want to do this the right way otherwise I'll never learn/remember 😉 See attached screenshot... Thanks
  7. Now this a very simple thing that I cannot remember how to fix. How I do make the centre triangles into nice happy quads? I did have a video of how to fix this but unfortunately lost it, sorry @Cerbera Many thanks, Rich
  8. Nice one, thank you. Thought I'd post on here instead of bugging ya all the time 😉

    Golf Clubs & Wraps

Wow, I agree with Igor, seriously next level stuff
  10. Hi everyone, My C4D skills need a bit of a refresh and being a bit of a Star Wars nut, I wondered if anyone here knows of any good Star Wars tutorials please? I'm a graphic designer by trade and haven't touched C4D for a few months and my old brain needs a little reminder and i thought something that interests me would help. Doesn't necessarily have to be Star Wars, possibly something sci-fi, I just need something to act as a refresher before I start my own Star Wars project. Many thanks in advance, Rich
  11. Wow, looks awesome and I love how clean the topology is. One day this noob would like to create such topology, maybe years not days!!!
  12. Nice work, especially the nice detail of the leaves, gives it a more 'lived in' atmosphere.

    Current Stuff

Top stuff, especially love the golden snitch.
  14. Awesome, that's really cool, sure beats trying to animate a plaster being applied to a wound ; )
  15. Thanks rfanoni for that, what about the iMac Pro, or is that what you meant?
  16. Thanks teknow, my current spec is; MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Not being the most tech savvy person, but I think your Mac is more powerful than mine, am I correct?
  17. I currently use a MacBook Pro to do my 3D but now I am working on larger projects, it is struggling to cope. Our studio, which is a Mac environment, has some funds to get a new Mac solely for 3D. Are there any users on here that use Mac's, and if yes, would you mind sharing your specs please?
  18. You make it sound so easy, I am sure with time things will get easier the more knowledge i acquire. Doesn't help that I am a graphic designer and still have to do that role at the same time #notenoughhoursintheday
  19. Are you self taught or did you attend any training courses, either online or at a physical facility location? I ask because I am in the south east too and if you know or can recommend a tutor or training centre, I am pretty sure my company will pay for me to improve.
  20. Wow I am now spoilt for choice. Many thanks for this @Isleofgough, would you mind explaining in 'simple terms, as I am new to C4D and the whole 3D world, almost like a 'step by step' guide, to how you created this version please? As i work for a medical company, I will have to do plenty more of this type of plaster/bandage, or what in my industry we call a 'Dressing', and so having the know how will be massively beneficial. I have only posted on the cafe a couple of times but everyone is so helpful and doesn't seem to judge your expertise level, for me, this is priceless. Thanks again, Rich
  21. Just to do the top right corner bend version please, I really appreciate this.
  22. Hi @deck, attached is a zip file of the C4D file and some reference images of how the dressing has been created in the past; 5ad715abb8659_ScreenShot2018-04-18at10_43_28.png.7ec2de3cb9017873417d27a8d063ed74.png (for the corner turnover) Displacement.c4d (C4D file) Screen Shot 2018-05-21 at 14.44.08 (flat render of dressing generated previously from a CGI company) TIELLE_Essential__Silicone_Border.jpg (other angle that previous CGI company did) And this is for a still image not animation. Many thanks for this, I'll keep this open if you have any questions. Rich Displacement.zip
  23. @deck , this is a big ask but I am still struggling to get this displacement working, if I share my file here, would you mind applying the displacement and sending it back to me letting me know what settings you have used to get the desired result please? If I can see what you have done, I can then play with it and see what happens rather than me blindly trying and epically failing!!!
  24. How long have you all been doing C4D for? I only started at the beginning of the year and haven't really done much, to me its a real brain f@£%!!!
  25. @deck It's just for a still image currently. To all the guys in this thread so far, I appreciate your help, I have done a course in C4D but we only skimmed over textures etc. This is like teaching an old dog new tricks and im checking out 'displacement' tutorials online as i type.
