  1. Volumetric modelling seems great but now I can't work in to it or export it to anything workable? Is this just for special effects? Thanks
  2. Hi there I was wondering if I understand and am using deformers properly... For the record I ONLY use c4d for modelling - not animation. A problem I am having is that when I make objects editable or export them as models to use in other software the deformers disappear. For example: If I am using the spline wrap on a cylinder - when I export it I just get the original cylinder and the spline - not the cylinder wrapped around the spline. - Is this because the deformer just creates an illusion of different geometry for rendering/animation purposes? Is there a way to make this a permanant modelling change so that I can use it in other software/turn into tech drawings etc? Otherwise this makes many of the cool functions that make c4d worth using a bit pointless? (Rhino is calling louder by the day, uhoh...) Thanks for reading :)
  3. Also, I am using this account not the other one but they are registered with the same email address... I will not be using the other one. It could be one is with my email@gmail.com and one with email@googlemail.com by mistake? No spam intended honest just tryna get some help lol... If you delete the other account will it also delete this thread? Can you just deactivate it instead? 🕵️‍♂️
  4. Thank you! Late to the party but I'll have a look at that now!
  5. Hi there, after a quick bit of help but its pretty basic stuff... It seems that the orange control handles for scaling disappear after the object has been made editable... - Is there a way to get them back - or how else can I just scale in one direction (eg Y)? Would this be by making a null? - I made the objects editable because I needed change the point of origin, however it seems rather like rasterizing an object in photoshop - once it's done you lose a lot of the control and cant change it back - so surely it's something which should be avoided until final stages - is that right? - If so is there a way to change the point of origin on an object WITHOUT making it editable? Sorry for all the questions! Ella
  6. Thanks for your reply - my problem was that I find when doing a second point you can get locked in to doing a particular angle etc and don't have control over changing this because sometimes it won't allow me to edit the control point handles on a spline point I have made until AFTER I've added the next point if that makes sense - however I have worked out that AFTER adding the next point you can then go back in and use the control point handles to adjust it to exactly how you like. I'm not sure if I am just having trouble selecting it or what but this method seems to be working okay. I'm still not finding it that intuitive yet but I am sure that will come with time... Can I also join splines on to other shapes like say a semi circle or do these have to remain separate entity's? Thanks for your help Ella (on other account - I accidentally made two)
  7. C4D crashed when doing something farely basic... I think I was trying to make a spline a child of a lathe extrude ting Anyway that's not important, what is important (and this has happened before) is that I tried to recover the file from my bugreports folder and although there are files in there none of them will open instead I get an error message (see attached). This pops up after trying to open one of these files. As I said this has happened in the past as well so I would really appreciate some help on fixing this - is it a software issue - do I need to reinstall? Luckily I was just working through a tutorial because if this was for work I would be f*cked... really putting me off the software tbh
  8. Hi there Just wondering if anybody has found a decent work flow to turn C4D models into tech drawings?! How do C4D models import into the following software: Rhino Sketchup 3ds max Can I bring the models into one/any of these programs and maintain the models geometry? Will it come in clean enough to create a drawing from. These are quite complex organic models. For more architectural stuff I wouldn't bother modelling in C4D to start with however it would still be great to understand how well these programs talk to each other when looking at what software to incorporate next. Many thanks in advance Ella
  9. Thanks for all your help guys, I ended up bringing the model into a new project and the crosses have now disappeared. This solved it although doesn't answer why they were there in the first place... If they come up again I'll be sure to take note and look into it further. Thanks
  10. Hi there Any idea how I got all these green crosses in my model. I was using the Measure and Construction tool to create specific angles but it seems to have filled my model with these green crosses which I now can't delete. Anyone know how/why this happened and most importantly, how do I delete them? Thanks Ella
  11. It was more for when wanting to design using angles precisely rather than lengths... Of course one could work out the other but this could get very time consuming, I am now thinking better to do that in another software and bring the different elements together. Thanks so much! E
  12. I've been getting round it by extending the measure and construction distances until they align with the curve, that's the closest I've managed but I will check out the other options you mention. But perhaps it would be best to do this kind of model in another software such as 3ds max and then create the more organic shapes in C4D and then bring the two together. Thanks very much for your help!
  13. Is there a good plug in or alternative you know of at all? Many thanks
  14. Thanks. I have managed to snap to the arc (spline) now but I do need it to follow that path. It is frustrating that you cannot extend a line through snapping, seems completely absurd if there is no way to do it at all.... Is there no extend tool either to draw the line out longer? It seems like such a basic control that many other programs are able to do? If that is the case then perhaps C4D is not the best program for more architectural design work/models that need to be mathematically correct....
