  1. All our assets and scenes are still discounted, and we are also adding Vray 6 lessons to the Essential course! https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/store/
  2. A quick solution can be the spline modifier, but there are tons of other options to do that.
  3. I think that for this kind of model you can also use some basic technique like simple booleans, if you take care of the topology and add n-gons where needed you can also use bevel like on a CAD software, here is a very quick example. Of course you can go for quad modeling but IMO for this specific object made out of plane surfaces and simple curves it may not be the fastest way.
  4. It would be nice to have this kind of interview, and yes, I feel that C4D just target motion graphic artists but it can do sooo much more... I'm an architectural visualization for example and I can tell you that with the current toolset and coupled with a proper render engine C4D is an extremely solid platform, but in this regard it's still neglected by the management... I mean.. never see anyone from Maxon posting about this field, only Mograph and little else, and because of this archiviz plugin developers and users are often looking elsewhere. Of course this is only my personal experience as an archiviz, but I'm sure many other fields are neglected as well.
  5. I know for sure that Corona and Vray can render Pyro as well, I think that any engine that supports VDB files should be able to use it. The interactive render from the Octane video seems to be too slow and results are not that good, maybe there’s something wrong there.
  6. First of all.. that's crap... second, I enjoy modeling very much, if you don't enjoy what you do for work probably you have made a bad life choice.
  7. I made a quick test by blending a metallic shader and a transparent shader with a swirl texture inside the self illumination, I do not have enough information to build it correctly though..
  8. You can set the C4D hair to generate geometry, then you can render with any engine
  9. Uploaded the files! Everyone who has already purchased the product will receive the download link in a few hours, those who have not yet purchased should harry up because the discounted price will end tomorrow 😉 https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/...rugcollection/ I’ll post a tutorial very soon!
  10. The collection is ready! Here you can check the online catalogue: https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/store/pdf-rugs/ And here you can download a free sample: https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/store/rugcollection/ If anyone is interested we are offering a special presale price until July 11
  11. there are several ways, even without using volumes there is the spline modifier, otherwise you can keep using the volumes and use the remesher tool to get nice topology
  12. I've already recorded a video about my workflow, from creating the maps to the final render, I'll upload it in the upcoming days;) Depending on the rug model render time for a 2K image is between 5 and 20 minutes on an average CPU, RAM consumption between 5 and 15GB (only one model required more than that, but it can be easily optimized if needed). System was always responsive running the interactive renderer for tuning the look of the fur. Here is an example after 60 seconds of rendering (with and without denoiser), time to first pixel 3 seconds, LC 5 seconds (is a 2K render but I think quality and resolution are reduced after the upload):
  13. Hi, for many of them I took inspiration from real world rugs, I use Procreate and PS to create custom texture for diffuse, bump, bending etc. For other made out of coconut fiber I mostly use real geometry.
  14. A few model made in the last few days: Mix silk/wool rug, render, specular and normal channel:
  15. Hi everyone:) I'm taking advantage of a few quite days to build a collection of high quality rugs for Vray for Cinema4d. Some of them were super fun to do so I though I'd share the work in progress with you, hope you like them and if you have suggestion on how to improve the look let me know! This is the latest one, made using Chaos Scatter,Vray Fur, and C4D cloner for the seams, almost 3 Billion polygons rendered using less than 10GB of RAM:
  16. Hi everyone, I do not have access to my PC right now, is there anyone that can convert this small Max file to .obj or .fbx please? RH Modern Luke Leather Chair.max.zip
  17. By adding a couple spline modifier you can get more control and still have full procedural geometry:
