  1. thing is the awnings are made like that and I can't modify the modeling so that's quite a black box to open.. Did you manage to get the arms closing on plane surface? Still its hard to make a plane surface, they originally aren't.. another question is: must I consider the last joint on the tilting end or just the line between FOREARM and elbow?
  2. now basically I put the things so to have complanar stuff... lets see what can happen now
  3. Hi Cairyn thanks a lot for your time. Yes there is some disorder between the geometry but as they are in a group with correct transform this doesnt make problems right? At least for rigid things moving like parents (IE: ARM2FrontRight ARM2RearRirght and FRONTALE) I tried aligning joints with the align tool. My rule was to keep Y up aligned with mechanical Y vector, and have Z pointing to next joint. I am still confused about considering or not the last tilting thing on the FRONTAL. Because yes, they need to be in same planar space to correctly calculate... but this is a real thing, why is it so hard to make an IK and block only certain rotation axes to make it "mechanical"?
  4. Well we don't really know that, but sure you need salt to cook it better sir! I put before boiling 👨‍🍳
  5. its literaly days i'm after this, doing and redoing. At least the cloth part doesn't look bad in the way. ANYWAY If you download project, you'll find 2 different joint setups (right and left part) for the rig: - the first is simplified with only the 3 joint nodes and expected to work very quickly even if not really precise - the second is realistic and it does take care of how the system allows the awning to close such perfect: the the tilting joint at the end and at the beginning of the arm
  6. hey @Cairyn thanks for reply.. that was how i expected to solve this crp.. maybe i'll animate it but it should work with pole... but NOPE wherever you put it and however you animate it
  7. this looks like the old internet... few peoples around, slower but smarter (maybe) conversations.. nice
  8. PPS been working in big studio VFX and now back to Italy where is hard to have a concept.. still looking forward to improve new skills in new unexplored fields
  9. Hi Hope to find my ansers here, looks like the right place to be.. cheers PS pls put salt in boiling water before before drowning the pasta 😁
  10. Hi guys I'm working on such a simple but tricky rig. This is a folding arm awning, seems that IK in cinema doesnt work as expected. As soon as I lock proper axis either via tag or via joint limit, it simply doesnt really care. Video explains, but I also attach project file. This is givin me solid headache .C4D : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vAalHmJ1iivyl9fSECkAj0M7UOGzbvxE/view?usp=sharing 2222.mp4
