  1. Hi Im using a 16 bit albedo file that I've imported as a diffuse colour map for a material texture. C4D has automatically assigned the colour profile as sRGB, but I need it to be Linear. How do I change the colour profile on an image by image basis within C4D please? Many thanks!
  2. Hi Im new to C4D and am following this tutorial - at around 7:25, he says "we can collapse that connect [object]" - he them gets a single poly layer. How do you do this please? Could not find anything about collapsing objects in C4D help/google. Many thanks! At
  3. Hi I have used Slicer to create some splines from an animation imported from Mixamo. I've extruded the splines to form slices, and I'd like to ideally have pool of colours that get randomly assigned to each slice - how do I go about this in C4D please? I know how to do this in Modo, and could get access to V-Ray for C4D - Im looking for the easiest route - please could someone point me in the right direction and Im happy to take it forwards? Many thanks!
  4. Thank you for that. Please excuse my noob-y-ness, where could I have found this info in help? Also - when I change back to Polygon Area - it seems to remove all the guides I just added to fill in the gaps! How can I retain my edits, but still get the hair to render?
  5. Hi I was near the end of setting up hair for a project, and wanted to add some more guides to fill in some gaps. I used the add guides tool set to interpolated and thought that would be it. However when I do a test render in C4D, it seems to only be rendering the guides, even though I have 50000 hairs set. It's just the adding guides change that has caused this to happen. How do I get the hairs to render again please? Thank you
  6. Thank you very much for this! Im slowly moving over more and more of my workflow to C4D and great to know that the standard renderer does such an amazing job!
  7. Thanks for the nudge- I've updated my profile 🙂 Im exporting into Modo - the only reason Im not rendering the whole scene in C4D is just because Im still learning C4D and only have V-Ray for Modo at the minute. Thanks for the explanation which makes total sense - seems like things might be a lot easier in C4D. Thanks for the pointers...much appreciated!
  8. Thanks for the quick reply - Im feeling about in the dark on this one, but after looking at a sample scene I sent them, VRay support have said "It seems like the hair object is not exported [from C4D] with information about the UVs and therefore this cannot be used to map the material [using VRay in Modo]". Is there any way I can export from C4D (as an alembic not geo) to include the UV info for the underlying obj file that I 'grew' to hair on? I know from the Chaos forums that people have done this with Maya and it's all worked out. Thank you
  9. Hi I've been exporting a hair alembic file from C4D by using the following steps: 1 Hair Object > Dynamics - turn off 2 Hair Object > Generate - set type to 'spline' 3 CTRL + d for project settings Project Settings > Cineware > Turn on save poly cache, save ani cache and save material cache 4 Right click on hair object > Bake as Alembic It generates an alembic file that I can import into Modo and render with VRay. The only thing is that I can map a Texture to the alembic. VRay support say " to get color from diffuse to vray proxy and alembic, you'll need to setup correct UV maps from [C4D]". Does this simply mean assign a UV material before export? Apologies - Im a noob to C4D and to using alembics.... Any help very much appreciated! Thank you
  10. My model is above the origin, but it seems that if the origin is in the view the guides show, if it's not, they don't!
  11. Hi I've got a mouse model that Im attempting to groom, and I need to zoom in to do this properly, but if I zoom in too close, the guides disappear from the display until I zoom back out again. Is there a setting somewhere to manage this please? Many thanks!
  12. Thanks buddy! Im new to C4D, but great to know the plugin is working correctly, and thanks for the links for the docs - I'l work through.
  13. Thanks KBAR. I've just bought the plugin and have started experimenting. Please bear with me, as Im new to C4D! I've exported the model as an OBJ from Modo with UV's on UDIMS - please see attached image. When I import it into C4D by dragging it into the viewport (and using the default import settings apart from changing the units to meters, and not importing the material), when I use Texture View, I don't see any UVs at all. Please could you help? Many thanks!
