  1. Hi there, I have heard that baking the lighting from a scene can cut render times almost in half. I attempted to give it a go, following this tutorial and achieved the attached result (which was far from my original lighting set up.) Is anyone able to give me some tips as to what I've done wrong? or if it's even possible to produce a similar result with my current lighting set up? Would be hugely appreciated! Cheers, Mia hdri.exr
  2. Hey! Thanks for this... So it gives me this outcome. close! but not there yet..
  3. Hi there, I am using the volume builder tool to create an object for a project. It was mentioned to me that with VB, I am unable to UV map my material onto my surface. I have attempted to use the node editor to properly map the image with no success. Keep in mind that I'm a beginner so the solution may be fairly obvious! I was hoping to render this with Octane. Would someone be able to instruct me how to map the flat onto my surface? I don't mind if the front is covered and the back isn't as long as there is an even overlay of the image. Looking forward to hearing from you! Mia oddly testing phase.c4d
  4. Hi! Thanks for this. Yes unfortunately for me I am still very new, I can visualise in my mind what I want to achieve but must do endless research and deep diving to get there! But a very rewarding process nonetheless. Anyways. I have used VB before so I will give it a crack. But yes, UV mapping will be an issue. Just some background info for you -- this graphic is for a friend who hand makes glassware. I have modelled this plate and imposed a picture of one of their plates over it. The goal was for the logo to extrude through the plate, with no changes to the texture, other than that it will move when the logo extrudes from the glass. It would be great to hear from you if there is another possible way that I could map this image onto the plate without UV mapping -- even if it means it doesn't entirely cover the back side of the plate (which will be out of view any way) or even if it means there is a bit of distortion. The patterns on the plate are quite distorted and organic anyway. I have access to Octane if this amounts to anything! Thanks!
  5. Hi there! I am experiencing some issues with the collision effect and was hoping for a hand. I am trying to animate this logo to slowly extrude from a plate I have modelled. I was hoping to achieve a liquidy effect, ensuring all the letters are readable when they finally appear from within the plate. I've applied the effect and am having some issues with what I suspect is the topology of the plate itself, which is distorting the logo and creating a large amount of puckering and holes. Any tips and tricks on how to rectify this would be much appreciated! -- just a side note. I joined core4d yesterday and have already received help on a number of tasks, I have found this so helpful and just want to pass on my appreciation!!
  6. thanks so much! really appreciate your quick replies and knowledge!
  7. Hey everyone! Having trouble with visualising how to UV unwrap this plate I have made. Any tips on where to slice to achieve the best outcome? Was hoping for the seam to sit at the outer rim of the plate. Much appreciated! oddly testing phase.c4d
  8. Hi there! I am new to Cinema 4D and the Core 4D page, so apologies if I have listed this question incorrectly, or if the answer to my q is straightforward :P. I have imported a logo from illustrator into c4d, extruded it, and added caps in order to round the logo a bit. It is looking quite lumpy and uneven. I have subsequently turned on ''gouraud shading lines'' and realised that my geometry is off and it's causing my logo to look quite raggedy and not very rounded like I had hoped. I am wondering what the easiest procedure is for creating smooth, even geometry, similar to a sphere. I have looked on YT and have been unable to find any specific resources relating to shapes imported from illustrator. I would really appreciate some help with this issue! Thank you in advance for your time & expertise! Cheers, Mia oddly testing phase.c4d
