  1. @CerberaThanks for all the help! I managed to get to here. I just have to finish it by creating the hole on the bottom. I did the mesh checker and optimize. I had no idea there was a tool like this in C4D. That was really useful to know axe3rdtryisthecharm.c4d
  2. After doing it, I got this. Is this an actual triangle? If so, how do I fix it? It's on the top and bottom Oops. I forgot to upload the c4d file axe3rdtryisthecharm.c4d
  3. How do you zero-scale them flat like that? How do i make it perfectly flat like you did?
  4. Ciao Stefano, benvenuti. Sono un ragazzo americano e ho origini italiane. Vivo in Italia in Lombardia da un anno e sono contento che ti sia unito a noi. A presto! Hi Stefano, welcome. I am an american and I have italian origins. I have lived in Italy for one year and I'm happy you could join us. See you soon
  5. Ok thanks for the feedback. I gave it another shot. The end came out a little weird again. I'm trying to mess around with the points to get rid of the misaligned edges . Posted the c4d file axe3rdtryisthecharm.c4d
  6. I really appreciate all the help i'm getting here. I started over since I accidently did everything in the right view instead of the top view and I wanted to get some extra practice to get some more XP. After making the shape of the shaft again I ended up getting these triangles. How do i properly resolve triangles and make them into quads? I watched some videos online but I'm not really getting it. I tried cutting a line but that wasn't effective it seems like. I uploaded my c4d file Axenew.c4d
  7. And then I did one with and without loop cuts/inset and got this result. Thanks for the tips
  8. I did a little experiment to see the effect of caps and no caps before and after subdivision. Here was the result
  9. How did you get the object to be in a nice black background like this pic?
  10. I just realized I had the reference picture in the right view instead of the top view this whole time 😳. Gonna fix that
  11. I tried following what you said. When you say SDS object do you mean the green subdivision surface things or do you mean something else? I noticed mine has more polygons than yours after doing the subdivision
  12. oh ok. It was supposed to be the blade of this axe. A very poor attempt lol.
  13. Ah, thanks! It seems like I have a lot to learn!
  14. Ah thanks! I appreciate you taking your time to give me advice. This helped alot. Yes maybe I went a bit over my level here. I just started 3d modeling a few weeks ago. I attached the file, but I think i'm just gonna delete the whole thing and start over with an easier approach for my level. I have a question though if it's not too much to ask. Do people ever start out first with the polygon pen tool when starting to 3d model or do they start with objects like the sphere, cube, or plane? I am confused because when I want to start to model something I don't even know how I should start. I think "Do I start with the polygon pen tool? Do i start with a cube? Do I use the spline tool?" It seems like you said it would be better if I started out with primitives. imbadatmodeling.c4d
  15. What does it mean to have good edge flow?
  16. Hello i'm a cinema 4d beginner. How do I bring out the edges like I did, but at the same time I can bring out the other part that will fill the object so it will be just wider instead of having this gap? Am I just doing this wrong or something? Should I just use a cube instead of starting straight with the polygon tool?
  17. What are some of the most common mistakes people make when modeling that make the model clunky, unusable, or flat out bad? I was thinking of selling some of my models online but I wanna reduce any of the bad mistakes I could make.
  18. Ok I figured it out. I just cropped the images in a nicer way, then rotated the top view, then resized the image. Thanks for the tips!
