  1. Ah, yes, Point Cloud seems appropriate!
  2. What do you call an object that has only points, with no polygons? I don't know, but I do know it can be a useful object to control placement of plants using a Cloner set to Object mode with Vertex distribution. Makes spreading plants around pretty quick, and the use of a Cloner makes mixing plants together, changing plants, and fine tuning placement a cinch!
  3. On Mac, with an object selected, you probably know that holding Option/Alt key when adding a generator adds the selected object as a child. Well, if you're specifically adding Instances, hold the CMD key instead and the instance will take on the object's axis as well as add it as the reference object without the need to pop the original back out.
  4. Wow, 14 pages spanning 2 years! This thread is kind of a head-scratcher. Going in circles, indeed. Never will one product be the undisputed champ, just like there isn't just one tool in the proverbial toolbox. There are many tools for different needs. A master-craftsman will learn to use the tools that apply the best to their work in multiple ways through either modification or ingenuity. Maya may be the software platform of choice for big Hollywood animations, but it's a fact that those animation studios use highly specialized and proprietary plugins and scripts tailored to the specific production being created. Game engines are the same way. Most games that simply take the Unreal4 engine and make a game within it's standard parameters aren't usually engaging games because they don't push any envelopes. It takes modification to mold the engine to do fancier or specific mechanics beyond the norm. Perhaps I miss the point of this thread. If so, please excuse my ignorance!
