  1. Right now linked to 3D printing so mostly CAD. But sometimes i am called to do modelling and scene setup for commercials and architecture.

I found it is not good for me to be 9-5 or more likely 9-7 in front of computers, i need to move, do some gardening, work physically. etc.    I am middle age so that is one aspect of it.   Video projecting shows  like the one i posted in another thread are dead since Covid.

  2. I am willing to contribute by making posts about the news and tutorials i find, as i have been making mostly about Blender, Unreal - it would be helpful if the forum  do not force me to put tags into everything, it just feels i am back at the job -  But not financially.

I could see myself leaving Premiere for Da Vinci but I would need to find good substitutes for PS and other Adobe programs, because as long as I have an Adobe cloud subscription it doesn't make good financial sense to not just use Premiere, which I find acceptable for my needs

One of the things i like in DaVinci  is color correction and looks. Here is changing looks with a click of button:

  4. It is still in Beta and apparently with some issues as expected. I also use it but, good and very powerful( compositing- Fusion -, color correction, sound) but the editing experience is overall inferior to Vegas.

Edit: interesting that we have been talking about Lighwave etc, older applications and one of compositing veterans Digital Fusion ends up inside Resolve. That must have been a great piece of engineering by Blackmagic integrating Fusion in Resolve.

Edit2: one of the things i also like is that even in free version when i encode to mp4 it is super fast and get my Nvidia+CPU to 100%.

  5. Yeah Mentalray was killed by Nvidia, At time i did not understood why Nvidia bought it in first place, it was already losing by mid of first decade of XXI century.

Also my opinion that XSI being too much linked to Mentalray was one of the nails reason for its ultimate demise.

  6. Yes, i was having same conversation on Blender forum. Mograph and Particle Flow - i don't know Maya's MASH - are the kind of setup that Blender needs to do with geonodes or risk geonodes being just a niche.  While i know i'll be capable of using geonodes - i made several compounds with Softimage ICE , i don't have natural way with it and the work i do which varies a lot  do not make it worthwhile to develop geonodes. Another problem with geonodes - like it existed in XSI - is that many node names don't explain its function. So you need to live with geonodes daily or more than 1 day per week to be able to go on.

  7. Applications like companies are linked to people age. How many generations have passed trough Maxon?  I think C4D might be one of applications that had less change, its founders only a couple years ago downgraded. While Alias Maya, Kinetic 3DsMax how long their founders went?

And many companies collapse as the founder get old.  Seems only Beretta the gun company found the secret sauce to company longevity, they are over 500 years old...

It is also common to say that a company with +50 years old median age managerial force is rip for takeover.
