  1. sad situation that discount is upgrade only. im many years waiting good discount from camtasia. this is expensive for me. if anyone looks a alternative, at this moment im using movavi and obs+adobe premier. movavi on steam is cheap and useable for simple-mid tutorials. obs good at record and premier good at cut.

    R25 Expectations

    i love c4d but yes, price for c4d is insane if you compare it to others...... because maya have particles fluids and render inside of it.. c4d not have this. if you want you should pay pay pay pay. lot of plugins there. houdini. also have lot of features far beyond from c4d. for example houdini engine. fire, cloth and others. and this software uses in multiple industries... in other side c4d just want stays in motion graphics... not cared about painting, sclupting, modeling, baking, simulatons .... so for c4d, if you want normal dynamics particles and other features just should pay.. maxon knows it. for this reasons subscription is cheaper versus to others. if you ask same money for much less features... sory but no one give you that money. so they do it cheaper and tells it " affordable". but there is lot of missing important features like normal renderer. sory but its not affordable. for paying annual subscription i take credit debit. and paying it to back as montly basis. its not cheap for normal solo person. i am always looking for extra jobs for paying c4d subs. in this year, if maxon not does good offers for: sclupting, painting, rendering (free redshift of huge gpu update for standart-physical renderer), or industry grade modeling pipeline and tools i will give up and dont pay for next year. so than switch to blender. i am already slowly learning blender. soon comes v3.0 when it comes, lot of c4d users goes to compare it with c4d r25. for myself, dont know which one i will choose but i am very nearly to lost hope for c4d. and blender seems more n more bright to my eyes. love of c4d or blender brightness. who whould win?
  3. another area that c4d not cared. when i hear about scene rebuild in c4ds tracking module, i so hyped for future photogrammetry usages. but maxon forgot about it. today, this is nearly a independent sub industry of 3D. and maxon miss this train. its fate so similar with bodypaint. maxon forgot they and dont cared. and there is now big customer base and companies that rules in that areas. substance for painting, realty capture for scan. sad for maxon they cared only about motion graphic industry.
  4. i think we should dont worry about it. ever given biggest biggest money to i from epic games and seems like they will continue to do this when period is ends. also there amazon, nvidia and amd. adobe is huge company but other ones also not small. to making money epic chose free usage up to 1 million income per game. also amazon lumberyard becomed opensource. so there is so big companies supports or on the same side as blender. also blender have huge supporters. their youtube have 850 000 subscribers. maxon has 250. so love and support of users is huge fundament to blender is rising. also there very big companies. i think blender unstopable. also ton rosendal in case of dead (he was sick) already choosed who will continue after him. so there is future also save for blender. blender is tons baby. and looks like he does everything for bright future for his child. just only this does big respect in 3d world i think.

  6. mr. igor, probably i not explained myself righly because of my english, sory. i know about houdini , downloaded learning version, but i am not about procedural modeling. or sculpting of 3dcoat. its about traditional way of game asset modeling.like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS6gI1bAvPA anyway, i love c4d and using this and my opinion/wishlist is not a critic, just my opinions/wishlist for c4ds future. c4d have some tools but they are outdated or missing some important features for game prop modeling. c4d has very outdated and limited UV tools and updated this. now its much more modern and capable. like uv tools situation, c4d has some old tools or missing tools.with some improvoments and updates c4d can much more attractive to game industry. much more than now. for example my opinion list contains texels density calculation. since i learned or used c4d i never used this and dont cared about it. because all my materials was procedural. and never calculated any texels. also never listen about it from grayscalegorilla or other c4d veterans. but when i started learning about modelling for games for making money with some freelance modelling, there was texels. anyway its important theme for gaming industry. than i saw how maya users using it and doing uv unwrap, i cant found how to do this in c4d. how i can calculate texel density in c4d ? . maya does it: https://youtu.be/iL2iXizf9xM?t=303 again, i am not comparing programs or not saying maya is better or c4d is bad. i am just saying: " there is gaming industry that c4d missing little bit. beause of some missing features." again, this is not a criticism or comparing topic. its just my opinions that can make c4d more effective (i think) for game asset modeling, unwrapping, baking and texturing.
  7. hi, last months, im interesting with game industry and doing some works and want to share my opinions for c4d on game ready modeling. in game ready modeling, artists are have very own requirements and pipelines and tools. %90 uses zbrush for sclupt. marmoset for baking, max/maya for modeling and animation. also sometime rizom like uv softwares and also painting programs like substance. this shocked me they they used lot of programs. they also fixes baked normals in ps for betters results. they calculates uv filling percentages and lot of other details there. so, i watching tutorials, courses and some timelapse videos about game modeling. there are lot of useful and important tools that c4d not have or have very old tools not comparable to todays industry standarts. i know c4d is not targetted for this industry but i think c4d not so far from this industry, just needs some improvoments and than can will be much more attractive for game industry. anyway, after some works and experience, i want to share my opinion about some potential improvoments for c4d for better usability in the game modeling tasks. i hope c4d staff members here can notice this. and i hope all this small improvoments and tools will be added on r25-s26. c4d needs: - vertex normal control tools. VNT plugin is a alternative but not works always and not covers all areas. also this is a third party plugin have problems. c4d needs own tools for vertex normal editing. its very important for lowpoly shading of game models. - c4d needs more uv tools. for example texel calculator, UV used area % calculator, overlapped island movement tools for better baking. (we should move overlapped islands and keep just 1 for baking. after making move them back or heep on side tile of uv. now moving overlaped islands is ok for manually work but it should a command for more easy usage and faster handlig all overlaped island. -better handling for smooting groups/phong breaks. its ok for now but will be better like maya tools -game engines calculates phong break, uv shell border and dvided vertex normals points as a 2 vertexes so we see in c4d different count of vertexes than game engines calculates. c4d should allow to see total vertex count as it calculates on game engines. (game models are always have poly/vertex budgets depending on engine or studio) - industry mostly uses marmoset for baking but its have own price and some artist uses maya's and max's built in bake features. about max is good working and have features like cage. c4d should update baking features for better results. also should add skew paint like marmoset does. for now c4ds bake is old and slow. baking is really pain and lot of artist buys marmoset mainly for baking reasons. so this is a good area to grow i think. lot of artist can choose c4d if c4d gives that level of baking tools. - matcap and other shading checking tools also welcome. there is lot of things will be do modelers life much more easy. in previous versions c4d changed color profiles of viewport and lot of users really not liked it. because modelling proccess is affected badly. of course colors changeable but im just saying, instead of color profile changec c4d should give better shading tools like, matcaps like blender, normal, vertex normals and other visulizeable datas. with them, modeling becomes much easy/better. - triangulation also will be better. - mesh cecking is good now but also can contain some addional features for game modelings. -better symetry tool and better boolean also will be good. - year 2021 but we still need scripts for "points to circle" . Commands like this should be native tools. not thirt party tools. maxon should take care about this simple but powerful tools. but wee waiting for some users scrips and plugins. noseman do good things like edge to spline plugin. maxon should give us tools like this. at least will be a retopo patch tool like blender addons. we know comes sclupt improvoments to c4d and retopo and bake will be much bigger issues for after sclupt proccesses. this small list is what i experienced in this year. most of game modelers uses maya or max. both are does good works and nearly industry standarts in game making. but c4d nearly does everything they doing(expecting this list). for me, c4d is much better for fast drafting and concepting of game models. but after my experiences i cant close eyes for listed features above. they are looks very smal things but for game modeling they are very important and can attract lot of artists from game industry. i hope in one day we can see this improvoments in c4d.
  8. disable it in preferences/redshift. and welcome to club. i think all redshift users hates this nodes thing. i not see any tutorial or screenshots of nodes interface usage with redshift. from noob to masters everyone prefers xresso interface.... and maxon not cares about it.....
  9. i removed texture and preferences and now is much better works. but okey, i will try remove picture viewer too and adapt to use as windows.. but for me sad to see those limitations. c4d it is best interface in the industry and this is one of the reasons why i prefer c4d.
  10. new viewport is tooo bad to use if docked/tabbed with other windows. my interface is docked most of windows seen in screenshot. if i select lot of objects. for example 200 300 sphere. its waits some seconds. when selection is ok, than i cant move resize or scale with placement tools because works too laggy.i think when i clicking wo viewport c4d cant understand wich windows i clicked. viewport like a transparent sheet and i clicking all windows under viewport. or something like that... so if viewport have docked in tabs it makes problem. i hope it will be fixed in r25.

RBarrett i converted my content browser data. 1.5 gb. there was my per render engine folders. each containing some files studio and mats. also there was my render settings. for example low medium or animation or for particles. different render presets i do. i cant see render settings presets in asset browser? its not supported?
  12. pls anyone can help me? i dont understand. why MAXON broke content browser and tries to some asset browser? . it was good module already and. can browse files from pc. can contain render settings ... now i converted my content browser 1.5 gb pack to asset browser. 1. question: where my files stored on pc? on folder i choose when converted, can see just a some 1 kb files. not my 1.5 gb data. whey visible on c4d but i want to backup manually they like lib4d file. 2. where is my render settigns????. i have different render presets for different render engines. for example: cycles low, cycles high cycles trail render .... also for redshift and octane too. so all of they gone. in the converted folder in new asset manager cant see any of my render setting presets....other files like studio rigs are there. but render settigns gone. cant find... also a question how to browse my computer with asset browser???? content browser has direct access to file explorer so i can see all exr or hdr images as thumbnails. windows not shows exr2s so c4d browser was lifesaver for me because of it shows all thumbnails. now asset browser... cant find how to add a folder or browse my computer. too confused... i should ad 1 by 1 select and import lot of textures hdrs ?
  13. anyone uses nodes interface with redshift? it still not supports c4d shaders for redshift. i am still using xpresso interface for redshift mats. still all tutorials i see all shows/uses xpresso interface... 3 releases before MAXON buy redshift. and still not integrated fully... also on the features page, lot of videos from r14 for showing features like sclupt.....its weird only for me???? you release s24's and features page contains a old videos about features. videos from r14..... yeah very innovative way to tell customers: " hey look at that. still same since r14 its like lada niva: goes ages but never changes..."
  14. sooooooooo.... again.... no bp, no sclupt, no uv (cant handle high poly at this moment), no xpresso, no redshift, no old renderers update, no bake tools no no no no no. lot lot lot of "NO" versus some placement tools and lıbrary content? yeah also remember. no particles, no dynamics of no fluids updates.... i hope this video is small part of whats coming... in other way sory but blender does much more in .01 updates on every few months.
  15. we can wait for sclupt. because they buy this. also they buy uv tools. and we get it. im just seeing that: MAXON do not developing anyting excepting motion graph things. they think, world is 3d and 3d is motion graphic. there is no game industry no architecture or other industries. MAXON have body paint. but in today, a company like allegoritmic takes whole game industrys instead of MAXON. i remember beowulf movie ads and breakdowns. it was first serious full cgi film and paint works was done in bodypaint. MAXON can be king not only in motion graphics, also in texturing-painting too. but they refused-lost this chance. now there are substance for game texturing and mari for films...also 3dcoat or quixel. bodypaint? no one cares.... also you cant find some normal tutors for it. so i think MAXON is interesting only with motion graphhics. maya and blender does moves to this area and i think MAXON have fear. scene nodes are just blocking blender and last character improvoments says to autodesk/maya, "if you come to my area, i will come to your.." and there is forger app for same logic about blender. we will see it in c4d as a upgrade for sclupt, but its just for blocking customers to moving blender. i think if blender goes just little bit non destructive like c4d, MAXON can lost lot of customers to blender. so i think we can see some good motiong raphics tools or finalised scene nodes. also there will be little update for particles because of scene nodes. will be some sclupt improvoments. if MAXON buy or lisenced a another tool also we can see it as "news" or update. also epic game granted MAXON some money in previous year. so we can see epic skeleton in c4d or or some another pipeline for unreal. and last one, we can see realtime render. because of fear of eevee. at least i think if we look at blender, we can see what comes in next releases of big 3d softwares. because of they have fear. because of they have industry and dont worried about loosing customers. because they are kings in own lawns. like c4d in motion graphics. but blender comes.it rises and its now a danger for kings of 3d industries. so in every area blender does move, others does moves too in that areas... its what we can see in next releases. a blenderized c4d.

  17. houdini indie is 270. okay if you want red giant and redshift. add it. goes price is 1370.. lets calculate what the price of xparticles????? because of c4d not have particles and xp is more than 700. lets add 1200 dollars +700 is 1900 dollars. other side is 1370..... i think houdini still more effective.... also remember please. you pay MAXON one and it not gives you full lisence of redhsift. is just for 1 year. and c4d only. but other side redhsift 600 dollars and its your forever. with all plugins.. so houdini 1 year + redgiant 1 year+ redsifht forever = 1400 dollars. than c4d 1 year + redgiant 1 year + redshfit 1 year + xparticles forever =1900 dollars. so what? its cheaper?? also if you want normally working smoke/fire just add 400 dollars for turbulence. i am really fan of c4d but i cant offer it anymore and its sadly situation for me. now need spend lot of time and efford to learning a new app and plugins. blender or other any app. its anyway pain to adapting to new software ecosystem.
  18. i am a freelancer. small freelancer. any of those indie lisneces covers me. and i can buy 1 year 3dmax and fFULL redshift. its costs nearly 850 dollars. 1 year of redshift and c4d is 1015 € i think 3dmax alternative is much better. because of full lisence of redshift and in total still cheaper. also blender+ substance designer+painter+rizom+3dcoat+ some other tools + rtx 3070 is still cheaper than c4d+redshift. of cours i can buy redshift too instead of 3070. anyway c4d is expensive.... due pandemics i waited a indie lisence. at least most dcc's have indie. but MAXON not give it. so im just moving out. because of not more money. ilove c4d but life sweet sometimes.. anyway im selling my xparticles and cycles 4d. 650$. if anyone need pls. pm me.
  19. MAXON one is 1200 dollars on toolfarm... i think MAXON lives in parallel universe and there is no blender. no pandemic. MAXON is the only program in the whole universe and they setting prices as they want.... but hopefully in our universe there is blender. also 3dmax indie 325 dollars. houdini indie 270 dollars. and other indies too around this prices... i cant belive. c4d+redshift 1015 €. for this money i can buy 1 year of houdini+3dmax+ full lisence of redshift. or full pack of zbrush, substance, rizom and other programs and use they with blender. and with remained money can buy a 3070. well MAXON, bye bye. im out im selling my xparticles and cycles 4d lisences. 650$. who interesting can pm me.
  20. yeah, yesterday on r23 announcement i asked to myself... but answer gived me MAXON... instead of indie lisence they say MAXON one for love price....this low price is 1200 dollar. really i shocked. 3dmax indie 325 dollar. maya indie too around it. houdini 270 dollars... for me there is no more confussion. im moving out from c4d
  21. thank you for answers. for now i have 2x gtx1060. from cycles4d switched to redshift early this year. doing freelance, stock model and images. i can say i am a self influencer -freelancer. most of works i receive are product visualization works. i want do more motionpragph things but coming freelance works mostly on side of product visualizations. also as a user of cycles4d i think on 2.91 blender can be fast as redshift. or nearly to this. but also if i buy new gpu it can be not problem. for side of stock models ans images can be done in blender same quality as c4d. as a alternative i thinking another dcc's indie lisences. maya or houdini. so i really confused. heart says c4d. loving it. usage, logics, interface procedural and other things. yes some tools outdated but, love is love. but sadly in other side money reasons.. pandemic is hits to my work and income is down. and logic kicks me to cheaper side. my MAXON subs ends on feb. for now im %51 for blender. but if MAXON announce something like indie lisence i can stay on c4d. i want it but money is money and income downs/crisis waits on next corner:( im looking for indie alternatives too. as blender they are too looks affordable after selling my plugins. anyway i have 5-6 months for smooth switching software and for now most logicial candidate is blender.
  22. hi, i want to ask to cafe members about my confussions. i am very dissapointed. here is new hardware comes. i can spend my money to 1 more year to MAXON subscription or can buy new card and switch to blender. im fan of c4d. love it, use it. blender always confused me about usage and possibilities. but last 2.9 version is looks nearly "ok" versus c4d. and in this reason i am really confused now. because blender upgrades very fast and have a roadmap. there is 2.91 and .92 comes with render performance improvements and its good versus redshift. in otherside MAXON just buyed redshift, merged with redgiant and lisenced uv tools. so versus blender, MAXON just money spending company. and have lot of very outdated tools. c4d is not cheap. redshift is paid. and also there is no any indie.... in otherside, blender is free and also new gpu's is very powerful and nearly same money as 1 year of MAXON. and forgot about plugins. i can sell my xp and cycles4d lisences and can buy 1 addional gpu or can spend for blender plugins. so, my logic and wallet says blender. my heart says c4d. what yours opinions?
