Hello all. Just like a lot of you, I am also quite disappointed at MAXON and the way they are handling business from now on, specially the lack fo care and options to former perpetual users like me. I have the studio license for R18, and I wanted to get the Full R20 upgrade, and tried to contact MAXON in several ways to see if it could happen, even paying for the R21 upgrade, and downloading the previous version, but they have no interest in offering this option... I like the things that R21 is offering, but the features like offline help and having to log on to use the software is a big no no for me. The upgrade price alone is 1.500 euro more or less, but I saw some people selling their full R20 licenses here at this forum for 1000-1200.. I am planning to move eventually to blender too, but right now, and for at least 1-2 years, I need to continue working with C4D since most of my clients overseas works with it, and we need to exchange files, etc... What would be the best thing for me to do? Try to buy a second hand license from someone? Is this a legal/safe way to acquire a license? Im a bit lost, so any advice in my situation, would be a tremendous help.

Man.. I have the full license for the R18.. and I am thinking of buying yours, since it would be cheaper than paying the upgrade. But can you explain to me why are you selling?

I appreciate the announcement Rick. But out of curiosity, where is the option for upgrades, for perpetual users of previous versions. I am still trying to decide on the upgrade, but I cant see to find the option anywhere. Thanks!

I will try that 🙂 Thanks for sharing this. Have you used blender for a long time? As for tomorrows update on C4D R21.. I decided to wait and not upgrade 😞 Even though I am using still version R18, which is stable with the tons of plugins I've bought... and at the same time, I will keep trying to use blender, since their character animation with 3D and 2D combined seems quite interesting. I will wait to see what people has to say about the improvements in R21, specially when it comes to character animation, and not including the whole mixamo thing... but its core.

Not sure if it was already mentioned here, and at this stage, it doesnt make much difference to people who already bought the update to R20 few months ago, etc... But in my case, I own the R18 still.... and before, each upgrade, if you skipped one version, it would add up around 500-700 USD. Example, Upgrading from R19 to R20 = Around 995 USD From R18 to R20 = 1695 USD And after speaking to a MAXON representative, he told me that there wont be any addition to the R21 upgrade.. the price will be the same as I would pay for the R20 upgrade, around 1600 USD. Which is kinda good I think...? But yeah, I am in the same boat as most of you... a bit unsure of the future with C4D. I've been using it since 2008, so I am proficient with it... but these new subscription models, and how they are trying to push people for these new plans, are a bit worrying.. I've been trying Blender too, but it is not the same 😞 Not a great intuitive interface, and having the prompt each time I want to delete a single vertice come up.. is super annoying 😞
