  1. this is just awesome and will change the whole production in Film making. I just ask me in what kind on resolution you have to render out the CGI content? An open sea for example. IMAX resolution or bigger? 16K,32K,64k or even bigger?
  2. Wow, Vue still exists? I used Vue 4 long times ago. And I also used the integration plugin to use it with Cinema 4D. I remember that it was never a stable workflow, and I stopped using Vue. I also didn't follow the development of Vue anymore. It works now? Is it worth giving Vue another look?
  3. Well well, Unreal.. I remember the time when Unreal 4 was released. new GI and lightsystem, more realism in realtime and so on. Now the same thing for Unreal 5. Unreal 5 looks very stunning, but just think that all the presentation Scenes are optimized for presentation, meaning everything works perfect and looks great. The reality in daily work looks different: Lots of crash, lots of textures that are not working , the framerate is way not stabile and so on. But the most important point is even the new Unreal 5 light, GI and render system don't comes close to the offline renderings quality. On the other hand a VR scene for the Client needs a stabile framerate, so you have to drop / optimized the texture resolution, mesh resolution to keep a stabile framerate. Unreal 5 should handle HD textures and the Polycount is not limited enymore. But even than you can't send the Client a 100GB file 🙂 . So optimation will allways be needed, and that trops the quality. Unreal 5 looks very promising and we will see how it works in daily professional work.
  4. Well, this discussions are all over the place and on all different Software forums every time when a new release comes out. here is my point. Three years ago I was on the same part that MAXON and Cinema 4D loose the track to the Industry. I heard a lot from Peoples " aa Cinema 4D, yes it is a Mograph Software. And yes a lot of industry standards and tools was not in Cinema 4D for a long time. So I switched to 3DSMax, also because I need it for work at the office. Specially for Architectue Visualisation 3DSMax is the standard with the most tools and Assets focused for Archviz. 3DSmax is great on that but there is so much pain and stress every day working with 3DSMax. short: Now three years later I canceled 3DSMax at home and switched back to Cinema 4D. And it was a coming Home. Today the best thing of the day is turn off 3DSMax at work and start Cinema 4D at home. What a great feeling to work with Cineme 4D. About the Update to R24. for me it is a great update and I feel that MAXON has found the way and focus back into the whole industry not only focused on Motion graphigs. So thanks to MAXON for this Update and keep up the track.
  5. ACES support out from a 3D Renderer is via OCIO. ACES System is in NUKE ( fully supported) , Davinci and other post programs supported
  6. rec709 was the most used output for TV. the output for PC screen is still sRGB. but you can output (render out) as rec709 and in the post make the color grading in rec709 and than use gamut back to sRGB for PC or stay in reg709 or reg2020 for TV. so in you case the input is sRGB and the output is rec709. in Postproduction the input is rec709 and the output whatever is needed for.
  7. actualy it is simple, ACES is just the System. a kind of an universal converter. So you can bring every color space from every camera into that system and the color grading is the same dosn't matter what input you bring in. ACES the System is only in Postproduction. Renderings is ACEScg or ACEScc. So it is a great system for 3D and VFX stuff. In the Filmproduction you film with different Cameras and the output is HD, SHD or UHD so the Color space of that cameras is very big . So ACES is not a must go in the Movie production. for CG it is a game changer for sure.
  8. well ACES is a great Color system. ACES is just the system. the colorspace is ACEScg, ACEScc, RAC709 and so on. The only two renders that support ACEScg are Arnold and Octane. Redshift work on a full OCIO ACES integration. There is a work around in Cinema 4D and Redshift to output ACES (sRGB) ACES (reg709) yet but you need a convert node between the color and the material input.
  9. Yes I can confirm that. Corona Render Output is awesome in Stills. I can't recommend Corona Render for Animations. It's not about the quality, its more the time to render it out. Redshift is great for that and in Redshift you can render out the animation in different colorspaces for more control in Post. In one of the next Updates of Redshift the ACES Workflow will be supported, witch makes Redshift even more powerfull.
  10. I saw the message that the name of the Forum will change. Why? I like C4D Cafe. It shows the root of the community here and it is the name that most knows and can identified with.. So why changing the name?
  11. Hi, well it looks like you use a sunset HDRI, It is darker because the HDRI has no strong sun. Try to use different HDRI with different sun positions. On the other Hand try with the Redshift Sky System, it is quite good for outdoor scenes. That the HDRI or RS Materials turn black into the Cinema 4D Viewport its an issue that is still here.
  12. Congrats, Igor, and thanks to Hrvoje to keep the c4dcafe up and running
  13. We work at Raumgleiter 100% with 3DSMax. currently we work with 3DSMax 2020 and we will update to 2021 in the summer break, during the small downtime of client work. I must say that the stability has improved a lot and getting better slowly. They are the typical Max bugs yes. Sometime MAX just get closed without any error. On a Network or via remote 3DSMax can become a bit laggy. 3DSMax 2021 has more improvement.
  14. The redshift Material Node editor has the same Nodes like XPRESSO. so you also can use XPRESSO to drive the Redshift Nodes.
  15. Hi, I don't know what you mean with Node Materials. Are you asking for the PBR Node Material from Cinema 4D to work with Redshift? That will not work. The PBR Node Materials is a different system and will not work with third party renderers. In that Quicktip it shows the Redschift Node Editor and the shortcut to connect a node to the output. I don't see the Cinema 4D PBR Nodes in there.
  16. Well, I will not open a C4D to Max competition here :). For me the stacking of modifires, effectors and modeling steps are a big plus. but yes if you remove all the plugins from MAX, that is another story. But something was in the last years different, specifically in Architecture Visualisation. The output from 3DSMax looked better than the output from Cinema 4D. I don't know what it was. It's the way how 3DSMax and the render engines handels materials, shaders and light. they was a differents compare to Cinema 4D. Now this days Corona Render for C4D is identical with Corona for MAX. This was not the case some time ago. I talk about Archviz. Even today if you compare Cinema 4D outputs and MAX outputs, they are different. and as I sad I don't know what it is. But here is the main point. Cinema 4D is a allround 3D Software. you can do everything with Cinema 4D. 3DSMax is limitet in some parts ( Motion Graphics) but it is speziallzed in Architecture Visualisation, Film and Games. So Max is more focused on parts of the industry and can improve that tools that are needed for this parts. Btw: I switched from 3DSMax back to Cinema 4D at home 🙂
  17. Hi, This post is older but maybe it helps other with the same question
  18. It is not possible. The Architecture Grass is not a Material. it is more a tag system with embedded attributes. But you can use Hair to make Grass.
  19. Hi, looks like the topo is not the same on both mesh. so it will not be easy to combine this two. what you can try is to use the Volume Builder and Volume mesh.
  20. ok I checked you scene. It renders normal but it took way to long. First your render settings are not right. too many samples, but that is not the issue. the issue is your BG_Green Material (the black one). it needs very long to load. My Cinema 4D crashed tree times by try to open that material. I deleted that material and the scene renders normal with normal speed.
  21. Well a great one is Digital Production. It is the biggest German Magazine that covers the whole industry. I would say that every german speking Artist know that. https://www.digitalproduction.com/
  22. Well 3DSMax may be not so stable and in some parts not as good as Cinema 4D. But here is where 3DSMax shines. I work since 3 years with 3DSmax in Architecture Visualisation. And that is where 3DSMax is golden. 3DSMax is the industry standard for Architectual Visualisations. Every professional Studio in that market works with MAX. And there are also some great Plugins for 3DSMax. the best one are Itoo Forrest Pack, The best tool for natural environment and Itoo Railclone The Output that can be realized with 3DSMax and Corona Render are just on the top. If you like to work in Architecture Visualisation you have to know 3DSmax
  23. yes, that is true. the workflow now with that conversion node is a mmmm ok solution but not right. I'm sure that it will be integrated into Cinema 4D.
  24. Node setup Cinema 4D and Redshift for ACEScg render output. The Node sRGBtoACEScg is between the sRGB Texture and the material input.
  25. ACES is a new inbetween standard. ACES is just the System. Try to not mix things together. There is ACES the System and ACEScg or ACEScc and ACEScct. Inside that System. What for 3D Artists is important to know in the system ACES is ACEScg. ACES cg is very similar to Rec709. In Cinema 4D and Redshift you can use OCIO and a Node that converts the sRGB Diffuse texture to the ACEScg colorspace. Its more an work arround but it works. Now starts the System. So you export an open EXR rendered out with OCIO profile and inport it into your comp software. Now the input is ACEScg and that goes into ACES the System where the colorgrading happen. After that goes to Rec709 or what ever Outputformat you need.
