  1. Yeah I was wondering about that, should’ve put it there, but I’m always open for feedback. Haha yeah I went a little to crazy with the overall color grade at the end. It’s interesting that frame didn’t end up having much motion blur because the ship settled there for a bit, before zipping around. And technically I just noticed there are people in the shot, and they are tiny compared to the ship so the scale is way off, that’s OK. Lol
  2. haha, I was trying a few things, I even tried the embed copy, seemed logical. that was way easier. I thought those links were the same, live and learn! thank you!!!
  3. So I found a cool shot from PEXELS.com for the BG, tracked it in cinema with one click, wow it worked, put some shadow catcher ground planes down and added the ship. I super cheated and made the ship a child of the camera then just animated it around. This time I really tweaked the textures a bit more, before and after below. I also tried using aces in the revised look, and went crazy with the color correction a bit. I'm really gonna try to embed the video, if this doesn't work, I'll need to ask how the heck you do it, I've seen a few different examples online. TO-DOs still want to add some little rocks and dust bouncing out when it hits the ground. I'm considering adding a military jet chasing it and shooting as it dodges them. then at the end he goes up and the jet flies underneath. Just not sure what part of the script I want this to take place. Could work as just the fun romp section without the jet, haha. Old ugly textures first. Not sure I did the ACES right, but it's a start.
  4. Wow went through your sketchbook and its phenomenal work and extremely clean. Love the colors you used on your recent stuff. And that sword is sick, super detail work.
  5. haven't heard of them, but I'll have to check it out. I use turbosquid if I want to grab something fast.
  6. Oh, what a great idea. I did the opposite. I turned my huge coffee table into a workshop space along with the kitchen table since I figured no one was coming over for a few years. Ate ice cream and worked on projects. Lol. Got a lot of things done but also gained 90 pounds! Haha Dobt!
  7. Haha, sounds like when I jumped into vrayforc4d. So incredibly complicated nothing worked, until you it finally started to click, then things got a lot easier. You’ll get it! Sounds like a worthwhile path.
  8. Wow, never heard of Clarisse, but now im Super curious. Probably hard to change pipelines partway through projects though, haha.
  9. Fun to experiment with. Like checking off the bucket list.
  10. @3D-Pangelyes I love all of that. And those 80’a movies had some special magic. That made me want to dream. When I originally moved to California in 95, I wanted to make models and animatronics but was told that industry was dead, so I decided to look into the CG side of things. but I still love the old ways and want to learn more which is why over the pandemic I built that for miniatures for a title sequence for explorers 2! Lol. Still compositing the live actors into the shot.
  11. for EXPLORERS FANS. another project in the works. https://youtu.be/RqWpxifXSJU Here's my multicade with all the 8-bit games and more. I had a midlife crisis a few years ago, lol
  12. yeah, I can definitely see that. just need to add that bump!
  13. yesssss I totally agree! I couldn't put my finger on why the chunks didn't quite feel right. I'll mess around with the settings to try and get more of a concrete feel. thanks!
  14. Haha, wow , yes you guys caught the johnny 5, 3d printed. I’m a huge 80’s kid adventure film nerd. I started writing a script for a movie I wanted to make 7 years ago, and it took 7 years to get a design I liked for the ship. Cute but still could look like a serious scifi ship. It was absolutely inspired by Batteries not included, Flight of the Navigator, explorers ( I built a huge miniature of the explorers junkyard over covid), Short circuit and iron giant. @3D-Pangelthis was all done by me and Gene and background plates from the PEXEL.com for testing. I do have some people that will be helping make the movie once we shoot a full trailer then do all the effects. The teaser was a proof of concept of how much could be done by one person. Shot1 1) Stock footage, and I motion tracked in after effects along with the bad compositing, haha. Don’t look to close. 2) All after effects Shot 2 The bird I animated from a still image using after effects and lots of blur. The BG is just a crappy HDRI with a shadowcatcher for the road. Nothing fancy. Shot 3 That was a still photo, I just cheated all cloud movement in after effects. And just comped it in. although the animation is not good, I was gonna fix it, but only had an hour. Shot 4 The little boy I stole from… Super 8! Test movie trailers trying to get funding often take from other movies for placeholders, but we are now looking to shoot the actors for the full trailer. Shot 5 thanks! Fun shot, super easy of course. Did all the ship lighting effects in after effects. Shot 6 The bg was from PEXELS.com as well. The truck is CG from turbosquid. I just had to texture it which for me is super tough. All light done by HDRI. I made the truck trailer a bit shaking back and forth, not that you can notice, but you can really tell when it’s not there. The chains I used a spline and the object cloner, made it way easer to deal with. Sound I did myself. I’m an editor by trade over at WB animation. You guys are way too kind. Thanks! And always looking for advice. Sorry if I’m overloading on this text. Trying to cover the question haha. oh here's a pic of adding a weld around the sign patch. no one will ever see it, but it adds a tiny bit of realism. In the story, kids a re rebuilding the ship and patching it up with old street signs.
  15. Haha thanks, really what I did wasn’t very hard. I did not build the forest, it’s a free video clip from pexels.com. I just tracked the camera move in after effects. Imported that in, put some shadow catchers down on the ground. Then comped the sucker back in after effects. That’s pretty much what I did for every shot. To see CG semi truck at the end carrying the ship was the toughest shot. im definitely no pro, but if anyone still wanted a tutorial I could try something. I will say, I’m sure professionals would do it differently, haha. I’m all fake it till you make it!
  16. Thanks! Yeah it’s fun seeing things come together after long nights of work. and I’m super into 3D printing and bringing projects into the real world. So fun to bounce in and out of reality.
  17. So I’m working on getting the little ship to break the wall. Trying to make it a bit more realistic. See if I add the video correctly. 🤞 sorry, haven’t figured out how to embed properly, lol https://youtu.be/1xwrg6wGRCI
  18. Found some fun BG at pexels.com to do some tests with trying to add my little UFO character and work on some character animation. Really trying to make this thing into a film with a few friends after we film a full trailer. We shall see!
  19. This turned out great! Love all the attention to detail.
  20. Haha, you’re probably right. I do my best to keep things clean from the beginning because I hate doing things twice. Sometimes, you just need to retool, haha. I would upload an FBX, but he would probably want to jump off a bridge. When I made it, I made it in hopes to be 3D printed and turned into an animatronic as well. Things got a little messy, but the print worked! Lol. I’ll have to post the project once I figure out the proper spot. I read the rules, just gotta learn my way around.
  21. The road is just a texture via cubic, I do most everything cubic. The lighting is completely from the hdri. Part of my testing in Arnold. Oh and I love questions on the details, makes your a better artist I feel. Instead of the, looks great…. From friends and fam, does it though? Lol. And thanks for the compliment, really appreciate it. What’s funny is, this was the first time I sculpted something in actual clay first, brought it in the retopologised. I imagine retopolgizing that thing would not be fun. 😭
  22. hey guys, glad to meet you all! Haha good to know who the quad police are, @Cerbera , lol. I do quads as often as possible. this little guy started out with all quads, but it took me a while to figure out a good way to separate the panels. I eventually just used booleans, which of course created messy edges, haha.
  23. I’m not sure what this is, but it’s awesome! I like the feel of movement from the weight. Just makes me want to see what it does, haha.
