I've figured it out, I just need to group the plane and shrink wrap - now I can change scale and height!

Hi there, I'm trying to wrap a plane around a very simple cylinder using shrink wrap but having issues. The plane glitches through the polygons, and I can't find a way to move it up slightly. I tried using a cube instead thinking that the Y height would help, but it just creates an unusual shape and doesn't work. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you
