  1. sorry guys, thought it might be a general thing with alembics that they just don\t work with dynamics. here is the scene when I export, the alembic either has a few random animations in the beginning, or is missing the last 25 frames or so of animation. 1398921210_alembicbug.c4d yes!

Trying to export a simple cloner with a dynamics tag to alembic, for use in blender and I can't get it working properly. sometimes most of the animation is missing, sometimes most of it is there but missing a few frames at the end. very random. I've tried caching the dynamics, nothing works. even converting to alembic inside c4d goes wrong. HELP!!!! c4d 2023 latest version
  3. I'm trying hard to figure out Blender, coming from c4d and one thing that seems to be missing is a workflow like c4d's "take" system. I've been looking at view layers and trying to set up something similar but hoping some more advanced user will know of a better way to set this up. Is there a way to have the abillity to switch (for example) shaders on an object but keep it in the same project?
  4. Following this topic hoping for an update on the layer comps status... Actually the ONE thing that makes layers so unuseable, is that new onjects arent added to a selected layer, just that function would make things so mush better. Or at least to have new objects added to a default layer. is there a script for this?

  6. I too am suffering from a very slow asset browser. I need to go grab a cup of coffee every time start it up. My Database is not huge, just the default cloudbased stuff from maxon and some redshift material presets. Also my database is sitting on a local SSD to read/write shouldn't be an issue. Any plans on the MAXON end to look into this?
  7. Hi all! Wondering if anyone has any tips on how to create a translucent rice paper with redshift. Like in the image below. my setup is a semitransparent "glass" without reflections and lots of translucency. But thinking there might be a better approach.
  8. Hello all! just a quick question. What's the best site for buying models with proper uv's and redshift shaders built in? Poliigon is great, but lacking in the modle department. Turbosquid is really expensive. CgMood is great if your'e using corona, would be great if there was a similar site but with optimizations for redshift and c4d.
  9. Hi all! Nearly every project these days needs several output formats 16x9,9x16,4x5, 5 seconds, ten seconds etc etc. I love the take system for having a master project that contains all different versions but there's always one very big limitation: Whenever there is need for dynamic simulation with slightly different settings per take the system gets shaky. I've been avoiding baking simulations for this reason, but whenever there's farm rendering involved or even the render queue it becomes necessary to use caches. Since we are now able to use the mograph cache for dynamic sims, and using different cache files for different takes the problem should be solved. I'm currently on a project with five takes with a different cache for each take, and everything's cool in the viewport. But when I add the different takes to a render queue to render overnight I get a big fat error message (missing files) and the resulting renders are hit or miss... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone else with this problem? solutions?

  11. The problem is, everything is bound to change in this project, so I need to be able to easily modify the splines. With the amount of points I would need to project them accurately adjusting will be too time consuming Thats interesting., so for every frame the tag looks at every point? no wonder it lags. Will try this.
  12. I'm currently working on a project with some very simple geometry animated using align to spline tag in combination with a clamp constraint. This is to first move the object along my chosen path and also have the object align with the surface it is moving over. Problem is, once I introduce more than 4 such objects animation becomes really tricky because my framerate in the viewport drops down to around 4 frames per second. My current workaround is to have turn all tags and expressions off for everything except the object i'm working on. But I'm hoping you lot know of a better solution to this. Something with priorities perhaps?
  13. Converting lib4d's is no problem. The asset browser is just not functional when it comes to adding user assets like textures(bitmaps). There seems to be no way of adding an entire folder from windows explorer. Then you have to revert back to the content browser. I guess maxon has a different view of what "assets" actually are. To me any bitmap used in a project is an asset, not just the shader using said bitmap.
  14. Hey All. It seems to me that the new asset browser is pretty limited. Or maybe I'm missing something. In the old content browser I can add entire folders of textures as a favorite or add to a catalog, not so with the asset browser. In the asset browser I have to manually create a folder, then add each texture map individually. C4d then also seems to copy the file to a separate location. why??? Is the asset browser really only good for storing presets and lib4d files? In that case the content browser really isn't legacy at all.
