  1. You simple add it onto your background..screen mode is probably the way to go but experiment. To do smoke AND fire separately just render twice with one or the other switched off and composite the resulting renders.   2. With Redshift becoming integrated..well at a price, into C4D I was wondering what most members would like to see. I have a major scene tutorial on the go and would like your input on whether I should be doing it in RS or AR/Phys ? I may well do several versions perhaps a version bundled with my full tutorial set ? I will of course include a TFD overview. Redshift seems the way to go but I am sure there are many who are sticking with AR/Phys..your views ?   3. Good to see someone appreciates the effort made..it really was painful.. each tag took ages to kill. It was maxing out at 63 GB RAM and having to page. Still kept me off the porn sites for a while.

  5. Just managed to delete a 3rd tag..not looking good..will persevere for a bit more but I may have to give up.
  6. Maybe more than 5 mins..it takes 5 mins to remove each tag !! It is peaking at 63 GB with loads and loads of paging !!

  8. In the mean time I find "save project with assets" finds and relinks the textures
  9. You could use displacement on geometry such as sphere. Pyrocluster would do a fair job but best go with a fluid simulator like TurbulenceFd or X particles. I know TFD well so give me a shout if you need any help
  10. Thanks Srek. Just been testing with Resolve and Optical flow and it does a good job at slowing down a 24fps to 5 % but that is all with static models. I shall do some tests with animated models. It may well be, as I am no Hollywood mogul, that I can get away with that...but I doubt it..not sure if I will live long enough to render at 450fps so I may have to try 60fps if 24 causes problems !! Death by spell check..it decided that I needed to do some more testes.
  11. After a bit of advice. I know many pros suggest all footage should be shot / rendered ? at 60fps and this will help i slow mo. If I have say a 30 sec render at 24 FPS and want to do a slow down to 5 % for 5 seconds of that footage could I get away with rendering the bulk at 24 fps and just the 5secs to be slowed down at 60 fps? Does anyone actually render out their footage at 60 fps ?
  12. Been experimenting with RS and have hit innumerable issues. Firstly and the most worrying RS fails to render a fairly simple TFD image claiming it has not enough VRAM…the bcf file is about 1 GB and I am using a 12B Titan and an 8GB GTX1070. Load times for that frame are around 6 mins then it fails. In fact load times are generally very long The other issue is noise…I can crank my settings to way high 4096 + on all settings but still there is noise. And I just cannot get the sharpness I am used to in Advanced render. I enclose a scene file for testing. You may have to or want to lower the resolution…it just fits in the Titan 12 GB I got AR to render the last frame in 9 mins on an i7 3930K at 3.2 Ghz 64 GB RAM hohoo.zip

  14. Could be an issue with "education" in the path name, try to manually direct it it or rename the r20 folder
  15. IPB is a nightmare to update configuring the add ons is cat kicking stuff. Keep at it !!!
  16. Rough test render. I need to work on the edges. Render Time 1 min a frame at 1920 x 1080 on I7 3930K 6 Core/12 Threads . I was experimenting with render times so baked out a model. Thing is render mem usage suggests i could have a far higher detailed model but this is the limit of subdivs I could get inside the program. Perhaps I could adjust some prefs to get the RAM usage optimized..or is it a GPU thing ? I don't think so as the GPU has only 12 GB RAM and this model is far more than that. Quality is bad embedded watch on YouTube !! Why model it ? Well the processing time for high detail sub ploy displacement is the issue without a render farm.
  17. I have been playing with the demo of Octane and though it does seem fast I have yet to really get into it but it does seem very blurry. The detail that shows in advanced render and Physical render are just washed away. Is anyone using Octane and getting sharp crisp results ? If so ca you post some examples
