  1. Im on 2.93, rock solid, no bugs thus far... oh wait....
  2. I keep wondering how is no one else has been able to replicate Meshfusion. I do think Nitro 4D has a similar plugin, but dont think is at the same level.
  3. I wouldn't advise to a beginner to purchase so many specialized apps without knowing the basics its just a waste of time and frankly quite a lot to learn. At the same time, I wouldn't advise any professional or studio in the field not to purchase so many specialized apps, even if he is working with Houdini, just because specialized = less time = more profit
  4. Im sorry I quoted but forgot to expand my answer to the quote.. Autodesk did discarded Maya sculpting plans, not really sure if Mudbox was EoL, but they did realized they could not compete against Zbrush. Also Houdini, they do baby steps to improve modeling, but is not a top priority over Sidefx. Sculpting is just a node with some basic functions like the one Maya had before they introduced sculpting. Instead of doing Maxon take on cloth or particles dynamics using the same principles, what I would love for Maxon or any other DCC is to see new tools instead of the same old solutions, EEVEE is a great example of innovation in DCC field, using game capabilities to render the viewport. So was Mograph or Bodypaint twenty years ago. If I remember correctly, before MAsh Maya had this really old school of duplicating instanced objects and C4D found an elegant and simple solution. Right now for example, anyone who can buy or replicate Embergen can have its DCC at the same field of innovation as EEVEE does, pretty much almost instant FX with little to no cost. Just imagine having a viewport with EEVEE capabilites, and simulations in realtime with Embergen inside your own DCC without the need to export to fbx -there are some videos of Blenders doing that already- Maybe you wont make Houdini sweat, but that could get a lot of artists atention.
  5. Usually what they do is buy the plugin / technology that works, like Maya did with Unfold / Mash / Bifrost / Arnold etc. The problem with Maxon, is they bought Redshift but didnt add it for free into Cinema 4D, so in reality, they only did it to keep milking us money. Imagine if Autodesk would still charging for all the plugins they have bought, and not just for batch rendering with Arnold.
  6. Im a big fan of motion source clips in Cinema 4D and the motion system, to reuse animations from Mixamo into clips for quickly drafting storyboards for production. Do you guys know if Houdini has anything similar?
  7. Your reasoning sounds accurate Jops. Faster development could lead to a lot of issues. Ironically, us C4D users, cant really tell. For all the love most people have towards Blender because of its fast development, it is one of the worst offenders when it comes to different versions and support. Too many small plugins developers and too many Blender versions leads to a lot of drama. If you guys need to install Blender, use the LTS version instead of the alpha / beta versions so you can avoid plugin incompatibility, driver issues or addons that simply wont work. For me, the worst offender has to be Adobe After Effects, it just crashes every often regardless if its the only software installed on my PC. And it happened around several years over different machines to pinpoint the issue to a driver or hardware. Working at home has not have major impact on driver issues for me (just this one time with Houdini). And C4D without plugins always have run without issues. The problem I had with C4D over the years is when plugins start to crash it.
  8. I really don't blame anything to drivers, like I said, it is how it is. I am literally too old to say things like "this is 2021 and this shouldnt happen" like young people like to say. I also wipe clean my OS every three to six months, so Im pretty much used to install / reinstall everything. I do have a second PC I used to work with (Dual Xeon) and a couple extra monitors, but as my son needs my office to remote pre-school, Im working behind the stairs until next year, hopefully. Im from Peru, we got hit by covid really, really hard, so school is still closed today. Cheers.
  9. I cant say about Flima, but I constantly update drivers because as I do remote working because of covid, and I use the same PC for 3d and gaming.... is not like I have a choice. Updating gives me more FPS, and if things go south I just rollback.
  10. Is not exclusive to C4D, last driver update made all my Houdini objects disappear from viewport, only the outliners were visible. It is what it is, sometimes you need an update or you think it would run smooth, but sadly it doesnt, so I only update drivers if I'm not in the middle of a production. Beta testing is cool if you dont risk crashing an ongoing project.
  11. Artistic take: If Xparticles were node based, but keep their modifiers as if, it would be awesome because you could see all you connections from your original emitter if you want debris, smoke, etc instead of having everything in a mess inside your xpsystem.
  12. It really depends of the workflow, Blender has everything Modo has and more (boxcutter / decal machine), except for Meshfusion, wich is excellent for printing but creates geometry unsuitable for animation, so you need to retopologize them. Its also kinda slow to work with. If you dont have it already, I think Zbrush is a better addition than Modo, and supports more polycount than Blender, and it doesnt seem like Pixologic would EoL or Sell it like Foundry could. Plus, you can combo Zbrush with Blender, to clean up assets for game engine.
  13. Modo is great but having tutorials behind a paywall was always weird. Other apps like C4D / Houdini doesn't suffer as much because there is a lot of free tutorials available, I hope they have changed that. The other thing that droves me away from learning Modo, is the lack of official support for 4K monitors, the shrinking userbase, and for some reason they actually encourage the idea of Modo being a "shoe modeler" . I hope they can find a way to overcome it, because its a great modeling software. Maybe they should start doing some animated movies done in Modo, like Blender Foundation does, or like C4D used to do to advertise a new version.
  14. It does make sense moving axis in tools menu from mesh menu, given that you can change the axis of a spline which isn´t technically a mesh.
  15. ohh I finally see the bug !!!! I zoomed out at first by force of habit.
  16. I can only "replicate" the bug If I turn OFF graphics tablet on Preferences while dragging it with my graphics tablet pen.
  17. well, not exactly lazy per se.. but as the question was using only rigid body and collider body simulation tags? I kinda have my hands tied up, hehe cheers
  18. I think I forgot to change bounce / friction noise on the box im using to shoot them straight down, so it was kinda noisy at the end. Im kinda lazy so I went for the easiest answer. Deck answer is better because you can art direct it. zxxxx (1).c4d
  19. sorta like this, also change sphere collision to box, as nothing else is needed zxxxx.c4d
  20. from the top of my head I guess you could put a box around the sphere, scale it on Y, add a collision tag, invert the normals, so they would not deviate from their direction, but I have to test it if it works later.
  21. aloso change landscape collision shape to static mesh Stickiness_0002.c4d
  22. You can sorta hack it turning angular damping all the way up and animating linear damping the moment they touch the landscape Stickiness_0002.c4d
  23. tools > axis > axis center
  24. I really cant follow this logic, you know your way around cinema yet you are doing this because of the new users? I really wish you the best, as far as I know all DCC have changed interface, even UE4 to UE5. With all due respect, I also am a customer, I had Cinema since R9, I used it along XSI since R12, and switched around R14/15 because of my work. I never ever, had a problem following tutorials from old interfaces, not even when I was looking at Blender 2.8 and learned from 2.79 messy UI. The only time I had issues was when I was learning Houdini and they changed Vex or Point node (Houdini has some major issues, you often see tutorials updated because of deprecated nodes) I started in this field of work with 3dstudio 4.0, Parallax Animator* and Softimage 3D, Maybe cinema users are different but I´m really glad we are not using the same interfaces from 30 years ago, just because newcomers will have trouble adapting. *edit.. I think it was Called Parallax Matador? Im too old to remember, it was on Silicon Graphics... oh boy.. I had to learn Windows from Irix too?
  25. 2015 EOL vs 2021 WIP.... I'm pretty sure the comparison wouldn't be fair towards Maxon. Sidestory, as an anecdote I do remember Noseman accepting an XSI challenge with Cinema 4D of replicating tons of bolts on SI-Community when Autodesk axed it, and that drove my curiosity into Maxon land. I do a lot of Motion Graphics, and Mograph was incredible at the time, It also caught my attention MoText tool with the ability to edit the text, which may surprise many people this days, but ten years ago, Maya dint really cared about that, and XSI text tool wasnt very good either. Many thanks to Noseman, If he ever visits this forum.
