  1. Tried very quick in 3ds max with corona render but easy to achieve in C4D too. Just a couple of noise shaders and combined with the illumination/coronalight material Edit: Uploaded the wrong image..
  2. I think you can get pretty far with some layered noises and the illumination tab. Not behind my pc atm so can't make an example.
  3. Made some clayrenders and combined them with the final render as well 🙂 On to the next project!
  4. Thanks for the nice words Cerbera! That's actually a good point you've got about the uniformity of the colour, never thought about that! I'll take that bit of advise with me for the next projects, thanks! I'm actually happy with the sky as it is, not much going on there indeed.

  6. I always struggle to know when to stop or how to improve it further with post production but I think I've got the result I can be happy with (for now lol).
  7. Thanks Alexander! The sky was turned of and is just the HDRI which the scene is being lighted with. Agree that the tree looked a bit off, I comped it in instead of included it while rendering, there's a slight DOF on it and wanted to speed up the rendering. A branch and foliage would be a good idea to add some depth! I'll add that too, though the vegitation start a bit higher up with these trees. This model is only half a tree from Megascans though lol. I still need to add some fences and trees in the background and maybe a neighbours house too! This is the update from last night, looking a bit better already.
  8. Thanks guys, For once a project that I'm really going to finish, lol. Still not 100% happy, really striving for realism (who doesn't haha) but still missing something and can't put my finger on it. Probably a combination of lighting and texturing, but it's not finished yet anyway. Will post the final in a few days. Have a nice day!
  9. Hi everyone! Want to show of this arch-viz WIP I've been working on for the past two weeks. Looking for a new job so I try to add a new visual to my portfolio every two weeks or so. Rendered with Corona and yes, the owner really needs to mow the lawns lol.

Awesome, I have a weak spot for everything black & gold.
  11. Man respect. How do you even do that, I'm not even a person before 10:00 in the morning 😂
  12. Yeah man but too much watching from the background unfortunately. Hope to find some time to produce some CG art again but work is draining all the energy 😕
  13. Thanks! I plan to cover most of the meshes with some sort of texture or pattern. The leather wristguards will have the same texture as the shoulder parts but the chest, side and back armour will be much smoother than the wrist and shoulder guards so I think I'll stick with the wrinkles there instead of small texture details. The whole question is how visible everything will be when printed. If it turns out there's not enough detail I'll have to solve it with the paintjob. Very exciting stuff.
  14. Made some progress last weekend on the wrinkles in the leather and added some primary details on the armour as well as some extra damaging. I also added more of the metal rings and rope on his sides, which you can't see on these renders.
  15. Ha that's great to hear!
  16. Thanks Igor, I will certainly finish it. Always nice to work on something that involves other things than only digital work and sitting behind a screen. Really looking forward to the printing and paintjob.
  17. Hi fellow artists! Just sharing some work in progress pics of my latest 3D print project which is going to be awesome! Years ago I made a 3D model of myself into a knight using Cinema4D, Zbrush and Substance painter for the textures: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Ok6P8 It wasn't fit for printing since the parts weren't watertight. So I've been working the past couple of weeks on making it solid, adding a ton of extra details and textures. Still need to add most of the metal parts like buttons and buckles, rope and leather straps. The polycount of this is 120 million at the moment, completely overkill probably (and surely not fit for the 99 poly challenge, lol) since the small textures won't be visible but I want to see what my system is capable at the moment and how many detail my MonoX printer can achieve. After that, the lower body, the sword and redoing my head and add all the facial hair. The figure will be around 40CM tall without the base, which will most likely be ruins and rubble. First I have to figure out how to split everything up so all the buckles are able to interlock. For now I think it will be made out of 6 parts: -Upper body -Arms with shoulderguards -Gloves -Head -Pants with boots -Sword Having a lot of fun and getting quite some positive energy out of it as well which is really important since I'm having some tough times at work and personally. Hope you all have a nice day!
  18. Looks great! I use the Cosmos library with Corona and 3DS Max for work and the objects are of a really high quality. I love how easy it is to use too.
  19. Really nice to read how folks from abroad experience this city (we call it a city although it is a village since Hilversum never obtained the rights to call itself a city). As you said, we certainly speak about hills around here (we often call it Hillywood), but nothing compared to the south of the Netherlands (or New Hampshire, had to laugh about you "enhanced speedbump" comparison haha). Around 10 years ago there was quite some criminality and a lot of shops closed as well. It didn't feel like the cosy city we were used too and even unsafe when going to the pubs in the weekends. Fortunaltely that's all in the past and there are quite some new shops within the renewed "Hilvertshof" mall. The Cinema's where torn down and there's a big one on the marketsquare with a very populair sort off food hall place right next to it. The city feels alive again. I'll stop hijacking your thread now Christoph 😉
  20. I currently live in Hoogkarspel but switching to the Hilversum area again next year. Everything is much nicer around Amsterdam right?... except for the house prices that is. Haha thanks, took some time to make up a nice artistic name😂 You've got some cool and colorful work on your website!
  21. "I think people (myself included) get too caught up in micro details without laying in the bigger picture first" This. I know that's the way to work but my brain tells me otherwise haha. Add more details and tiny changes in material roughness Jarno, it makes you happy. 😂
  22. Thanks for the feedback Igor. I'll probably end up removing it completely and add a small radiator instead 😄
