  1. Love it, good job again. Though perhaps the eyes could benefit from some pupils..

Nice, even the triangle has quads :p
  3. Thank you! I used a technique were i projected a displacement texture of a face onto the model. I haven't begun on making the big shapes non symmetrical yet but the result is already nice so far.
  4. The tropical island one ks really nice, love the colours!
  5. Tiny update on my character! Oh and for those who were wondering what that thing on his head is. It's a Force Field contained Medical Explosive Device :D he he he Have written a small background story for this character and will publish it when finished!
  6. Ha! Seems that I got one too for my alien I uploaded this evening ^^
  7. Ah fame. Well, you better get used to it ;P Ever since I got featured here with my Mass Effect alien things have been going crazy! Nah just kidding, though it's my biggest online achievement to date haha
  8. Even for a placeholder, shame on you dude ;P Nah seriously, amazing job man. I keep repeating myself haha
  9. Great one again, saw this this morning on Reddit and had no clue it was posted by you :)
  10. Tip of the week: maybe start an own thread instead of posting this in mine ;)
  11. So basically if I extract an area from the combined texture and make it greyscale it functions as just a normal alpha right?
  12. Right, XYZ is where I bought them too! I was seriously impressed by the results of those maps. On their site there where some tutorials with projection in Mari but I don't have that. I already combined the maps in photoshop. How did you create the detail forthe rest of the head, since the texture is only of the front of the face? Was it Hand painted details Or did you extract parts of the image and create a tilable texture?
  13. Been working on this for a couple of weeks on and of now. I want to approach this project different than creating skin detail through hand painted methods. Instead I bought a high res facial displacement map with micro, secondairy and tertiary details to project on the face and extract it, Not really sure yet on how to approach this but I want to learn these techniques they use in vfx or game studios. The idea was to make a sort of half human/robot head so I'll probably apply some metal tech to the head. As a base mesh I used the retopo'ed C4D mesh of my head scan I made a while back and spent an evening reshaping that and get the right proportions.
  14. Wow, guess I missed your last reply! But yeah The witcher takes ages to get through and you need to spent a couple of hours every time to really enjoy it. I understand that that's not easy with a familiy, hell, I've a girlfriend and I hardly play anymore xD I've given up on AC a long while ago, nothing new to be seen there unless I'm completely mistaken with the new one.

These looks great! Seem pretty realistic to me :)
  16. I've read somewhere that Pixar actually modelled a bunch of sand grains and the beach you see are exist out of billions of grains. Imagine the power needed to render that. Anyway. I think realflow would give the most realistic result but pretty heavy to simulate indeed. Can't give you any advise on that since I've never worked with that...
  17. Ha Menno, thank you! This is the first time I've heard of it and wish I've known of it sooner but unfortunatley I've already got other plans. Nice oppertunity to upgrade your network there I guess. If you're going, let me know how it was! Ps: Eindhoven is not around the corner for me either, moved to Medemblik a couple of months ago :p
  18. Ah I see, I'll be waiting patiently then ^^
  19. Was wondering, did you ever finish it? Would have loved to see it fully textured :)
  20. A female!? You liar ;) can't you make it a female monster then? Haha good luck!
