Its probably never been a better time to at least try it out. SideFX doing more an more to simplify thigs and its doing it well. If everyone is keen to learn nodes, then Houdini is only logical choice due to its simplification of nodal system. Dont forget that SideFX doing nodes for 3 decades now. Its going to take a long time for others to catch up, if ever.

    Here is something from me...

I am eager to see what kind of modeling improvements they did and also viewport. They are still on OGL, so maybe they also have been preparing DX viewport.

Very cool IGOR! I'm slowly working my way through some vellum/grains tutorials at the moment but you've peaked my interest in their modeling tools.

so you‘d be fine with not having fields and  volumes,

you‘d be ok with the shitty UV workflow and algorithms,

you‘d be fine with rudimentary auto weights, you‘d be happy with broken f-curves with no proper auto tangents?

Yup, I've never used fields or volumes.

Yup, I have dedicated UV tools for this.

Yup, I don't do any character animations.

Why are you so angry? Some studios have different workflows...you need to be more inclusive!

Thanks!  Yeah it’s fun seeing things come together after long nights of work.

and I’m super into 3D printing and bringing projects into the real world.  So fun to bounce in and out of reality.

I like The GOONIES too! It's one of my favorites 👍

  4. @DasFrodoVery cool stuff! I haven't played around with Meshroom in a while and I agree it is a bit complicated and slow. My iPhone just took a dump so I picked up a 12 Pro with built in LiDAR which is amazing. Along with the free app Polycam I've been scanning everything in sight!

  5. I'll second the vote for Photoline. It fills in the holes of Affinity Photo for me and even has a few features that are superior to Photoshop...and you can't beat the price to OWN it for life!

  6. @AHVEN - Start laughing as I prefer Blender's UI over C4D in many ways...especially after the R21 debacle when they moved everything around! There are threads on Blender's forums where people dislike C4D's UI so the moral of the story is beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

BforArtists is available for those that prefer a different approach to the look and feel of Blender.

What a total dud WWDC was and no new hardware at all. I had my credit card all warmed up. Do people really want all those "features"? I don't.

Those aren't features, they are innovations! 🤣

@LonchaneyHa! Actually, if you were really designing stuff for print, QuarkXPress was where it was at...

So true! But before Quark was around all my Mac friends were using Pagemaker which wasn't much better than VP (BTW, I still use QuarkXPress 7 for a few clients, lol) Good to know I'm not the only old timer here!

...going back to the old days of DTP (Desktop Publishing) where it ruled!

Not in my office, it was IBM's Ventura Publisher! We never had any of the type conflicts all the Mac guys were having, lol.
