I've just paid the 5 Euro's after getting the email. You can cancel recurring / automatic payments within your Paypal account. BTW thanks for the couple of replies following my earlier post. Nigel / 3DKiwi

Just catching up with Core4D / C4D Cafe as I haven't visited in a while. Myself and Crew Reynolds started C4D cafe. We were both trueSpace users and both into animating. We could see that truespace's days were numbered so moved over to Cinema 4D. In fact it was about 10 years that we then later me on my own ran the cafe before I sold it and moved on. I'm not actually doing any 3D these days and only have Blender installed on my computer and that's just to view a couple of model files. People may recall that I was modelling Lego motorcycles in 3D. That's developed to actually modelling them for real. I currently have about 55 Lego Technic motorcycles and now design my own. I exhibit them at Lego shows here in New Zealand. Getting back to the topic. I would be fine paying a small contribution to keep this place going. I know I had to dig into my own wallet a few times to pay the bills. Running and maintaining a forum on its own server isn't cheap. Cheers Nigel / 3DKiwi
  3. I would suggest Disturb's "Sound of silence" for the closing credits.
  4. Hi Dave. Thanks for reminding me. I had a lot of fun making that tutorial. Image attached. I'm not doing a lot of 3D these days. I haven't renewed my Modo subscription this year. They've gone a bit like Maxon with mediocre releases of late. Any 3D stuff I do is designing Lego motorcycles using a free online Lego modeller Mecabricks. So I've gone from making 3D Lego models to actually making real ones. I was doing this before but now I'm a bit more serious about it. Attached is my latest creation finished yesterday. Not quite finished as the exhaust hoses are wrong. I'm waiting for some different length hoses to arrive in the post. This is based off someone else's design but I had to deconstruct it based upon some photos they put online back in 2015. 90% their work, 10% mine. Lazareth LM 847. Has a Maserati V8 engine. I've now got about 50 Lego motorcycles in my collection. Glad I'm not still waiting for the Bodypaint / UV Editing updates promised years ago in Cinema 4D. Apart from the interface changes and a couple of small enhancements to the UV tools, nothing much has changed since I jumped ship with the dismal R17 release. Cheers Nigel / 3DKiwi
  5. Sorry, I closed my Vimeo account so the videos are no longer available.
  6. LOL. I think my moderating days are over. Good luck to Igor and thanks to Hrvoje. Good to see the cafe or whatever it's now called still going 🙂 Nigel / 3DKiwi p.s. the "favicon" needs updating to the new name. It still says C4D Cafe.
  7. Well done everyone. Some superb work.
  8. Happy New Year everyone 🙂 Nigel / 3DKiwi
  9. Make sure to enable the "Render Instance" option on the cloner. This should speed up performance.
  10. I don't see a yellow bar.

    Lego Plug-in

My suggestion is to use the free online Mecabricks Lego editor https://www.mecabricks.com/en/ you then export in obj format to your 3D app. Also a Blender exporter available as well that generates realistic materials in Blender for the imported model. Can also add edges bevels as well.
  12. Personally I would much rather use the latest Blender version than Cinema 4D SE5.
  13. Although I don't post much these days I check in several times a week. Yeah I watched the Neutron preview and it looks awesome. Had MAXON released this while I was still using C4D I would likely still be here. In my opinion Neutron is a lot further along in development than what they may have hinted at. They've been working on it for many years. They were certainly working on it when I was a Beta tester but we were never shown anything. Hope you are all doing well. Life is good here in New Zealand with no Covid-19 and the only cases being people caught at the border. New Zealander's returning home all have to go into managed isolation / quarantine. Those of us that still have a job are all back at work and life is pretty much back to normal. Yeah still riding my bike a lot, still using Modo and modelled a number of big Lego models when we were in Lockdown 2 months ago. Modo's core is being upgraded like C4D's. Development isn't as fast as what people would like but they are making progress. Stay safe everyone 🙂 Nigel / 3DKiwi
  14. Select the boundary edges making up the outer shape of the logo and run an "Edge to spline" command. The command is found on the Mesh > Commands menu.
  15. Not that I'm aware of. To be honest if you're wanting your models to be accurate just getting the lengths of elements correct is pretty much all you need to do. If you want to change the length of an edge say, that isn't aligned to the 3 world axes then you can temporarily align the workplane to the edge. You can then type in the correct length in the Attributes Manager to correct it.
  16. I always found measure and construction tool rather clunky to use and didn't bother using it. As far as I know it never received any further development.
  17. Here's a tutorial that some joker made a few years ago. This may help.
  18. Yes you can. Here's an example where I measured the angle on a cube. I then typed in 105° to change the angle. I could also have changed the length of the edge by entering a new amount. Hope this helps.
  19. Sounds like the guy using Modo needs to watch some tutorials and learn how to use Modo properly. I would suggest watching tutorials by Richard Yot. I use the procedural modelling tools in Modo all the time. They're great. Re Bugs. The latest versions are far less buggy than older versions. Not really an issue now. There's a few bugs in the current 14.0 version. An update will be out soon that addresses most of the bugs.
  20. Glad I jumped ship when I did. I would expect to get S22 if I had an active MSA. There doesn't seem to be a lot of goodwill extended to existing and longtime users. Out of interest I looked at how much it would cost me to get back into Cinema 4D on a subscription plan. From the Australian Adimex site that covers my region for an annual subscription plan price is 737 Euros or $798 US. Modo's annual subscription plan is $629 US. They also still sell perpetual licences which is what I have. I pay $419 US per year for the maintenance plan that gives me all updates. That's recently gone up from $399 US. Nigel / 3DKiwi
  21. No one wants speed improvements? Part of the reason for the core rewrite was to make C4D handle more complex scenes and be a lot quicker. As far as I know you're all still waiting. So for me, not that it really matters since I no longer use C4D my top 5 would be: Faster / handle more objects Bodypaint / UV tools replaced. Unbelieveable that the UV tools still haven't been replaced Modelling tool enhancements e.g. proper symmetry modelling, Bridge tool enhancements, modelling fall offs. Thinking Particles replaced. Alternatively admit defeat and remove TP and make X-Particles the default particle system. Do some sort of deal where users can buy X-Particles at a reduced price Lower the price of monthly subscriptions. Given the world we currently find ourselves in with Covid-19 things are going to be tough financially for a few years. Unless the price comes down those charging hefty subscriptions could struggle. Blender is starting to look mighty attractive at the moment.
  22. Yeah I stocked up the beer fridge a week ago in case I had to go into a 14 day self quarantine. Didn't want to run out 🙂 From midnight tonight all people entering New Zealand except a few close by Pacific Island are required to self quarantine for 14 days. Cruise ships are banned. Certainly some interesting times ahead. Stay safe everyone and wash your hands, a lot.
  23. Cinema 4D allows you to have multiple UV's. Just matter of having multiple UV tags. Things work left to right so UV tag 1 followed by materials that use UV tag 1. Then UV tag 2 followed by materials that you want to use UV tag 2. Hope this helps.
  24. In Windows settings check your power settings and what happens to the display / monitors. I never put my my computer into sleep mode. It boots up in a matter of seconds so isn't an issue.
