Hello guys, this character has a different kind of shape that I'm not sure if the topology is optimal for rigging and animation, could you tell me what I can change or what's wrong?

Hi, I rigged my character using the Character tool on C4D, it's a basic biped. The problem is that when I try to click on the controllers to rotate or move them, I cannot easily do it, check the video to have a better idea.
Hi guys, I'm new at modeling and this time I decided to make a shoe to keep learning. I'm having some progress but I'm stuck in something. I have a couple of doubts (find attached the c4d file)
1. What would be the best strategy to make this smooth (1 in the picture)
2. What would be the best way to add inner thickness to the shoe's upper?
