  1. Haha! That's it exactly! Thank you so much BEZO! Really appreciate the speedy response and your kind help! Such a ridiculously simple error for me to overlook! 😳 [noob! lol]
  2. Hey thanks Bezo, sure please find enclosed... Appreciate the help. I want it to only rotate on P axis, none of the others. I was thinking of using a constraint tag, but that seems silly for such a simple rotation? Example File.c4d
  3. Hi community, I'm hoping there might be someone familiar with Xpresso who might be able to help me with a really strange problem I'm having... I've set up User Data sliders many times with no problems, sometimes on quite complex scenes, but this extremely simple setup is just not working?? I simply want to rotate an object around its pivot 360° using a slider. The object is banked (B) by -10° and no matter what I have tried, every time I rotate using the slider, it seems to completely ignore the -10° bank and rotate it without, causing the rotating object to look wonky? I have input range and output range set to "degree" and unit set to "degree" in the User Data. So ridiculously annoying! I've used sliders so many times on other projects and never had this problem before. I don't remember ever having to account for an initial rotation on another axis? I usually just plug the node into a single rotation P and it rotates only on that axis? Thanks for reading and for your help...
  4. Thank you @jed, I appreciate the feedback. It was actually already resolved as you have mentioned in a previous post by @digitvisions
  5. Related to your answer @Cerbera, I was wondering if you know of a solution to losing all phong breaks after optimizing the points? I have found that if I optimize a bunch of points, when the points are welded together the resulting edges lose their phong break data? Many thanks
  6. Sure, the difference that @Cerbera had highlighted is that when ctrl-click-dragging nodes with the mouse within the Xpresso window, despite them appearing to have been copied, they do not possess the same characteristics (they didn't work in my example). When using the keyboard shortcut ctrl-C (copy) and ctrl-V (paste) to copy and paste nodes, all of the characteristics are retained and the copied node(s) correctly work as they should. I have no idea why the two processes are different and suspect that it may be a bug?
  7. Whoa!!! Mind blown! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge @Cerbera, that's incredible and I would have never have thought that ctrl+click-dragging would be different from ctrl+c/ctrl+v??! That's got to be a bug?! Although, I think (and I might be wrong) that it doesn't change the fact that the individual doors still have to be contained with a null for them to work separately from the "Both Doors" version? Definitely a power move though to know that that copy|paste needs to be via keyboard shortcut rather than ctrl-dragging! Thank you for your help and for moderating such a great and helpful forum! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  8. Thank you DigitVisions, your solution worked! I completely understand your example. It's a weird concept that Xpresso cannot use the exact same objects for variations of movement and that the exact same objects can be used as long as they're inside a null? Slightly strange workflow, but if that's how it works then I'm happy to adapt! lol Thank you for your kind help and solution, I am very grateful! Enjoy the rest of your weekend @digitvisions and @bezo
  9. Thank you very much for your continued help bezo, I really appreciate it! You're absolutely right when using both doors as a single slider. The problem arises when you try to add a copy of the node tree for a single door. I've enclosed what I mean. door_opening_xp_Problem.c4d I think digitvisions found the solution. It appears that the doors cannot share the exact same objects or null objects, they need to be slightly different. For example. digitvisions put the individual doors in a null of the single door object.
  10. Thank you for your reply. I think you mean this don't you? I've tried that and it doesn't work. Strangely, even if I copy the same Range Mapper and Door Left as a duplicate (to test) and try adding it to the "Doors Both" control, that doesn't work either?
  11. You could just render out a separate AO pass using C4D's Standard renderer as you mentioned and then just add it in post as a multiply layer (in Photoshop)? So have your beauty passes|renders from Corona and then add the AO pass as a render from Standard. I haven't used Corona on C4D, but I would be very surprised if there wasn't a way of rendering out a separate AO pass? Corona for 3DS Max, but it might give you some ideas of where to look in the C4D version... QUICK TIP: Ambient Occlusion Pass
  12. Hi Cinema 4D friends, I am just starting out trying to learn Xpresso and have managed some very basic success so far. I have looked everywhere for a feature that I need to learn, but am really struggling to find a solution. I have set up a user data controller to be able to control different parts of a car. I have managed to set it up to have a slider for the left and right doors to open independently with a slider using the Range Mapper node, but I would like to be able to create a slider to control both doors opening together. I have tried most approaches and nothing seems to work? I have even tried to copy the existing "left door open" node tree to a newly named user data slider, but that doesn't seem to work either? It seems that you can only have one control slider per null object? If there are any kind folks who know a way of me solving this, I would be most grateful. Even if it is just pointing me in the right direction to find a good tutorial or something. Thank you for reading!
  13. Wow! Thank you jed for such a quick and useful response! I am extremely grateful for your help and am glad that I signed up to such a great and supportive community. I look forward to trying to help others where I can... Thanks again and have a great day/evening

  15. I’m hoping someone maybe able to help with a relatively noob question to what seems to be a very specific problem? I have looked extensively for a solution to this and found nothing even remotely useful... I have a very basic scene with multiple objects (simple planes) in various different positions and rotations. I would like to be able to export the data of the objects as either a txt or csv file. I have managed to accomplish this with 3DS Max scripting, but there is another requirement that Max can’t seem to do. I need the resulting data to have a level of decimal precision (e.g. x:123.123456) The end result would ideally be a txt file with all of the objects listed something like this: object 1 position x:123.123456 y:123.123456 z:123.123456 rotation x:123.123456° y:123.123456° z:123.123456° Object 2 position... I have tried to export an .obj and inspect the results in a text editor, but it only provides the positions for the individual vertices which is not what I need. I suspect that it would be a Python COFFEE script? I’m amazed that something that should be relatively easy is so exceptionally difficult to achieve?? Thank you for reading this and hopefully someone can help?
