  1. It seems dynamics don't work with splines...in the example you gave me with those tanks I don't see any dynamics applied to them. Only Xpresso. In the second example, I have the exact same situation...everytime i play I get different results. I am wondering if the animation can be baked into keyframes and how to do it...maybe one of those times I get it right and then having it baked into keyframes will yeld the same result every time I play.
  2. I have a tank which is rigged and has dynamics. On a perfectly flat plane the tank drives almost perfectly in a straight line if I want to (if I want to change direction then I use the controls). But my plane is not perfectly flat, it has some degrees of inclination (H: 4.879 °, P: -7.193 °, B: 0 °). Thus, when I let the tank drive in a straight line it goes astray after a short while, as you see in this video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6obm7jf1kd96xj8/Video%20Aug%2012%2C%208%2013%2057%20PM.mov?dl=0 (and it's not constant...sometimes goes astray to the right, sometimes to the left) I tried making the tank to follow a spline but that didn't seem to work...any other ideas? (I know I can use the controls but it's a pain to constantly adjust the controls to keep the tank driving in a straight line)
  3. My project is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dhwjeyzltrqb7kp/car-test.zip?dl=0 (After Effects file and two images used) I exported an OpenEXR multipass file from Cinema 4D. I imported it in After Effects and used ProEXR plugin to extract each pass. I put each pass as I saw it in Cinema 4D render and set tup accordingly. Yet, I don't see my image recomposed well (you will see it once you open the project - which I made with AE 2020). What m I doing wrong? One note here: to catch shadow, I used the Sky object with an HDRI image as the source of the light (no other lights were used). So the shadow of the car and the man is projected on the plane (which now is white). In Cinema 4D that plane is textured with the default image you see in AE (C0068_00135.png) using Camera Mapping (this image is part of a video which I tracked in C4D). I used the Physical render engine to render all these multipasses.
  4. I am using a Sky object and an HDRI image to light the scene. Also I am using the physical renderer to render out the sequence. And I am using the Shadow Catcher material on a plane to catch the shadow of some objects I have in the scene. The problem is that I don't see any shadows after rendering out...I tried using the standard renderer but also nothing. Why? The workaround is to use the plane on which I use a material where I camera project (Camera Mapping) the video I am using as a backplate. That solved the shadow....but now the scene I am projecting on the plane (which is illuminated by the Sky object) becomes brighter than the original scene. How can I avoid that? (see the example attached - look at the illumination on the left car and on the ground) SOLUTION I think I have solved this...hope you understand what I am trying to say below Exporting individual objects from a scene as PNGs (with alpha), including shadows (where the light comes from the Sky object and a HDRI image, with Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion activated)... - To NOT render the Sky put a Compositing tag on the Sky object and uncheck Seen by camera. - To render the object without the shadow put a Compositing tag on the floor (or plane) which catches the shadow and uncheck Seen by camera. The object is still illuminated by the Sky object and the light will still bounce off the plane because of the Global Illumination (but the Sky object and the plane won't be rendered out) - To render the shadow (and Ambient Occlusion) without the object put a Compositing tag on the object which has the shadow and uncheck Seen by camera (the Sky object will still illuminate the object but the object won't be rendered out). Set the material of the floor (or plane) which catches the shadow to 75% white (or around). This 75% white will vanish when the shadow is composited in After Effects as Multiply (and only the shadow will remain). Thus the surroundings of the object won't be brighter (like in the image above after render).
  5. I reshot the scene several time and I still get the 3D tracker stopping at half of it. You can check yourself, here is the latest footage that is failing (this is the video but I exported it as PNG images in After Effects and then I imported in C4D). I am curious if you would get the same: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fh9k5x571qrj62j/C0067.MP4?dl=0
  6. Yes, it is my footage....and I will try to shoot it again :). Thanks.
  7. I mean in R19 I never encountered this kind of stuff. Although I tracked many shots (but not this one).
  8. I have the same issue and I posted my question in the Miscellaneous section...let's see if someone can answer.
  9. I am trying to motion track about 929 frames (all image sequences). The 2D tracking goes fine until the end. But when I try to run the 3D Solver it stops in the middle of the sequence and says it is finished. See the video https://www.dropbox.com/s/pzie0izc4r11151/Video Dec 07%2C 12 15 08 AM.mov?dl=0 What causes that? I use R21 and I know in R19 I didn't have that problem. Thanks.
  10. Yeah, I didn't mean for you to have my project fixed :). It's not even a serious project file, it's something I am learning on it. No money involved and it's not work done for others. I looked at your file...and what you did I did too in another example. What I have discovered is that I am not working with real world scales and the dynamics seems is not working too well with very small scales. Like the wall I am trying to break in my project file is 142 cm/67 cm/10 cm. That is quite small. When I worked in my other example the wall was much bigger hundreds of cm in height and length. Maybe this, the scale, impacts my little project too... Anyway, thank you for your help :).
  11. I tried to do what you said here but it seems i cannot make it work...or not knowing exactly what you meant. Can you do it in this examplehttps://www.dropbox.com/s/pd9vt22b4cel1yq/explosion-1.c4d?dl=0 (i included the voronoi fracture) and then i'll know exactly what you meant? thank you1
  12. I have this situation... I am blowing up two holes in a building...everything is nice. I used Voronoi Fracture for that, which I made it editable (added Dynamics also) and separate from the rest of the building (see Explosions from Front.face.Fracture). Now, I want that after a while, to make the top of the building partially collapse. The top I want it collapse I also made it with Voronoi, then editable and added Dynamics (see Left.remains from Static, from Front.face.Fracture). I tried using Forces (Force Field and Plain) with Fields (Spherical Field) but I can't make it work...do you know what I am doing wrong? Thank you. See the file here https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pvwt05djztavih/explosion.c4d?dl=0 (hit play to see the animation)
  13. I am trying to track a scene...and when I put Motion Tracker there in the scene I see the Axis being greyed out (if I don't use Motion Tracking the axis are fine). After tracking and inserting an object I cannot do anything with that object (I cannot move, scale, rotate). What is happening? (I'm using R21) I can only scale, move using Coord. data. If I import a scene tracked in R19 the axis is fine (I can movie or scale the objects)
  14. If I change the length of the back legs by modifying the length of the bones rig "Bone right leg" or "Bone left leg" (from "controller hip a"->"Bone hip") that doesn't propagate throughout the animation (seems the animation is baked in keyframes). How do I make it to propagate?
  15. Well, I don't have 3DSMax (but I do have this .max file so I can't open it).
  16. Now I noticed the back legs are also longer than usual, after importing the FBX. How do I correct that??
  17. Seems like it takes a lot of time using the weight tool for smoothing...
  18. After hitting Zero I get this. The bulge goes into another direction. See the first image. If I go to the Autoweight tab and hit Calculate the problem is fixed...but then the rig is misplaced. See the second image. I hit CTRL+Z to undo autoweighting, then the mesh seems ok and the rig is aligned to the mesh. But when playing the animation that part of the body is not animated, stays behind (and the back legs are longer now). See the third image.
  19. I have this model I got from a website. It's an animation of a dinosaur. But after importing in C4D with default settings I see this bulge on its back. See the image. The model was initially made with 3DMax and exported as FBX. How to fix it? You can get the model from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sw8n9ypb7djubha/diplo.c4d?dl=0 (I've used in the past FBX animations like these and it never happened with other models. I am using R19) If I delete that controller "controller hip a" which seem to be creating that bulge and play the animation then the body is not deformed anymore but that part of the body becomes static while the rest of the body is animated, making the body elongated. See the second image.
  20. Yeah, your Mixamo clip is perfect for looping...but mine is not. And most of the clips are like that, not ideal for looping. Here is my clip https://www.dropbox.com/s/9pf9k81ylxpxxty/stegosaurus.c4d?dl=0 ...this is not walk in place (it's another type of movement, walk in line). But when I do motion clips the next two motion clips added make the model walk in place instead of continuing walk in line. Also, Relative Loops doesn't work because it makes my model start over. Frustrating....
  21. Also, my character is already rigged...and I see that to use CMotion you have to use Character first (from C4D) and rig it before adding CMotion. Can I use CMotion on an already made rig (which was not made with Character)?
  22. I tried doing that...by adding a motion clip to the animation (it wasn't motion clipped) and then create a Pivot object. I animated the pivot object but the model doesn't move forward. Still is walking in place...what I am doing wrong?
