  1. My solution to my problem is that I will independently photograph the hand flat; front, back, left and right. Model that first and then rotate it into place and model the rest of the arm from the original photos. I was getting into real trouble with the length of the fingers being out of proportion to the palms working off just one set of images. Your information helped me understand the parameters I have to work within. Thank you.
  2. Hi I am modelling an object which stands at 90 degrees, except for the last quarter which bends backwards, something like 30 degrees. Think of a hand bent backwards at the wrist. Each side of the object has differences. I have take accurate reference photos from the top (back of hand side), bottom (palm side) and right and left – thumb and little finger side respectively. This is a doll arm, standing on a surface. In the top and bottom viewports, the bottom of the arm aline but the tips of the fingers do not. Because in the top view they point towards the camera, and in the bottom viewport they point away from it. I've started modelling the hand/arm viewed flat from the top view – all good. I then go to the right side viewport and bend the hand geometry back the 30, or so, degrees. My problem is that the geometry in the bottom viewport doesn't change perspective, meaning that the tips of my finger geometry are a long way from being inline with my reference image in the bottom viewport. Is there a way for me to work in the top, bottom, left and right viewports whare the changes in geometry moving forwards, backwards, left and right in each viewport, will be referenced in the other viewports with geometry further away from the camera becoming smaller? Thank you
  3. Thank you, I appreciate it Igor. But I know I'm on my own; I am just voicing my journey to help let go of some of this frustration. Only MAXON, Nvidia or the people I bought my machine from can help me. But, from weeks of experimentation, the only constant is R23. I'm going to try and run S22 for a more extended period than before and see if I can make it crash the programme whilst I'm doing some simple modelling.
  4. This morning, at different times, I have removed each graphic card, working only off one card at a time. All that my machine has installed is R23, Windows 10, and Nvidia drivers. No Wacom, nothing else at all. Using only the mouse (which I am now good at), R23 has consistently crashed off each graphics card when being used individually. And also when used together.
  5. I've just crashed again with my monitor plugged into the second graphics card. I am going to disconnect one card at a time and see what happens.
  6. OK. I can help. I have been through everything. in short: R23 crash, crash, crash. I could run R21 and S22 on my machine without crashing. I ran graphics cards diagnostics and no problems came up. The solution for me was to plug my monitor into my second graphics card and the problem stopped. Now I'm looking to get the card replaced.
  7. I've deleted my Wacom drivers. And crashed withing about 20 minutes of using a mouse.
  8. I use a tablet for everything in Cinema. I don't like the mouse. But I am in the process of deleting the Wacom Driver and my C4D preferences. I can't work the mouse so it is back to square one. If it is the Wacom, I'm going to try S22, for me the Wacom is my link to Cinema.
  9. I'm filling out a Wacom form right now. Once my crashes start, they are so frequent.
  10. What I don't understand is that I've always used the Wacom and it has always been OK. The last Wacom update was a while ago, along time before my crashing started. I've got nowhere else to turn though. I've been getting help from Nvidia, deleted and reinstalled my drivers. Wacom next then.
  11. I've crashed again. I've been on other thing this afternoon. Sat down at Cinema and crashed in less that five minutes. I use a Wacom.
  12. MAXON just contacted me. Said someone else had been having the same problems and that deleting the Nvidia Experience Manager solved it for them. I've just deleted Experience Manager and worked for a whole 10 minutes without crashing! More than that, C4D feels back to its old self.
  13. Sorry to hear that. I've had one crash in the last 24 hours. It was everythy five minutes before so a massive improvment. Please do keep me updated.
  14. Hi Dave – I didn't see your post until now. I contacted MAXON and have pasted the solution they gave me in the posts above. Deleting the preferences has worked for me.
  15. It's still early days, but we have a possible fix. I contacted MAXON, who got straight back in touch being extremely helpful from the off. Even though I had wiped my machine and reinstalled Windows and R23 they recommended that I delete my R23 preferences. I followed the instructions below and so far, so good. I will update here later in the week, once I've had a more extended test period. Thank you, MAXON, you make the best programme. And the first time needing it, your support is fantastic too. You can delete your preferences by going to: Edit > Preferences in Cinema 4D When the preferences window pops up, click the "Open Preference Folder" button on the bottom left. Once open, quit out of Cinema 4D (this is a very important step as this process will not work if the application is running). Next, delete all the folders in the preference folder (READ BOLD PRINT BELOW BEFORE YOU DELETE). Finally, move up one level in the folder hierarchy to the MAXON folder delete all PRF files with _20_ in its name (If you are using R21 you would look for _21_, R22 _22_ and so on). Now. When you re-open Cinema 4D it will create all new preferences and hopefully get you past the issues you are experiencing. If you have plugins installed here you can leave the plugin folder. If you have custom layouts set up you can find them in in this path MAXON Cinema 4D R2*_********\library\ layout Make sure to save the .l4d and .prf files in this folder so you can put back once the preferences reset. If you have custom content created you can find them in in this path MAXON Cinema 4D R2*_********\library\browser Like the layout just make sure to save your .lib4d files in this folder to put back once the preferences reset
  16. OK. I'm pretty sure it is the Wacom, which is a large part of my C4D experience, and I expect the two to work together; they did until recently. Wacom haven't updated since 10 June, so it's not like they have changed something. Are you saying that these crashes have nothing to do with C4D? I can't be the only person trying to work in R23 with a Wacom, but at the same time, no other users are on here looking for help which they would be if they were experiencing the number of crashes that I am. What can I do? Reinstall my system again? I'll do anything to get back to where I was with Cinema and my Wacom. I'll have to ask MAXON to go back to R21 – I am losing so much time. And on that note, I genuinely appreciate everyone who is giving their time to comment on this thread.
  17. You mentioned Wacom straight off – do you know of a problem? I would find it challenging to work without it. I was working fine in the initial release of R23 until about a week and a half ago. Then I started a new a new project and the crashing started. Even when I go back and work on a project which was previously working fine.
  18. Yes. I have a Wacom installed and am using: Redshift, X-particles, HB modelling tools.
  19. I've update to 23.110 SP1 and crashed within five minutes of using it.
  20. Thank you, Cerbera. Right after my last message; I went back into C4D, I can't remember the exact terminology, but it flashed up saying that I needed to authenticate my login (which it sometimes does). After that, I have worked until now without a crash. But, based on the last week, I can randomly find short runs without crashing before it starts crashing all the time again. I'm scared to start a new session, and especially switch between layouts! If it carries on I will contact MAXON. But, I've just checked the version I'm using, I was 100% sure I was up-to-date, but it's R23.008. Within the programme I've been going to 'help', 'check for updates', but nothing showed up other than content libraries. I've just gone online and seen that there is an update available! This should be it. Thank you, Cerbera!!
  21. I've just crashed again. What can I do? Crashing all the time between view changes can't be normal? I've reinstalled my whole system and now double-checked the drivers. I have only done a very limited reinstall of the essential programs on my machine. Why can I work perfectly well after yesterdays Windows update and then start crashing again, worse than ever today? When I checked for Windows updates just now, I noticed some text saying: your organisation manages some settings'. The policies set on my device are: Exclude drivers from Windows quality updates (Source: Administrator) (Type: Group Policy). Cerbera, is the SP1 service update something that I can install individually, or if I am up-to-date with Windows, which I am, does that mean that the SP1 service update is already installed and up-to-date? I've tried for more than a week to solve this and am now completely stuck. Everything until just over a week ago worked fine. And since the problem started, I've wiped my machine, but can't shake this crashing. Thank you for your help.
  22. Thank you Hobbyist. After the Microsoft update yesterday; I worked all day without a crash. Start-up this morning, and crash the first time I swith from one view (perspective) to the four panel window. When I opened Geforce Experience, clicked the three dots, Game Ready Driver was highlighted. I clicked on Studio Driver and it instantly said that the latest Studio Driver was installed. I hope I was using the Game Ready Driver and that this will now fix the problem because the current level of crashing makes it impossible to work.
