  1. Thank you for responding. I gave up and started over, but I thought I would upload the project just in case (for next time) and I have a feeling I know why I was stumped (I noticed a bunch of weird tags that had inadvertently been added to that geometry) So, case closed. Thank yhou
  2. I am working on a model that I will eventually 3D print. I'm a relative C4D noob and its time like these that I get so confused and frustrated - trying to figure out why a simple task is not working the way I expect it to. I have a cube and need to build out some geometry on the inside. I bridged two lines on symmetrical polygons on the inside to make an inside plane and now want to split it into exactly two. I select face mode, select the polygon, right-click to find Loop/Path cut.....and no matter what I do, I don't seem to get the loop line indicating where I want to make the cut. https://imgur.com/ZgKsLic Frustrated, I start a new project and try to re-create: Create a cube with, say, 10 subdivisions, make it editable, bridge two lines inside to make a plane, select the plane, right-click Loop/Path cut....and it works exactly how I'm expecting it to. https://imgur.com/heCIVHx So, what the heck is going on with my original model that I'm having a hard time with? I tried comparing all of the settings and modes between the two projects, but for the life of me can't figure out why. This is the sort of painful noob experience that get's me so frustrated. Is there something obvious I'm missing here?
  3. Hi all, My son is watching me learn C4D and wanted to know if he can make simple 3d models online somewhere and then pass them off to me for me to manipulate in C4D. After searching online I thought I'd try out TINKERCAD with its quasi kid-friendly interface. 1) I export model as OBJ from Tinkercad. 2) In the Mac finder, preview shows the OBJ model how I expect it to be. 3) I import OBJ into 4CD. (I want separate materials to be separate geometry) 4) I see the objects in the Object manager but don't see them in the viewport. 5) When I select the view as lines, I see a bunch of vectors that I don't understand. Thinking this is something to do with normals, I've tried futzing with all the different parameters of OBJ import but always end up with these same results...... Can anyone explain to me whats happening? Thank you
  4. Oops - figuring out how this forum works. I guess i don't have a way of manually flagging the topic solved without adding a comment? Thanks again.
  5. NICE! THANK YOU! Total noob here, so just out of curiosity - can you explain the logic in why you need that extra layer or Field for it to work? Is it something in the way the Sample node looks at the object for it to parse the data maybe? Anyway.... Regardless, I thank you!
  6. I would like audio to affect the speed of the rotation of a matrix object, much like what's discussed here. From my research, it seems like in Xpresso, you take the Object Output of the Sound Effector, pass it through a Sample node to get the Strength, and then pass that through a Remapper to suit whatever parameter you're trying to affect. As I'm trying to figure out how to do that, shouldn't I be able to see the "result" being passed through, even before what I decide what to do with it? In my setup here, I'm expecting a value of 0.627 to be passed through Xpresso so I can do whatever with it to affect whatever parameter I want to: Why is this not working? I thought if I take this value and multiply it against a time node and connect it to rotation, it would produce a cool sound/time effect similar to the above post, but even before I play or experiment with those affectations, I can't seem to access the values being ouputed from the Sound Effector.
