  1. It seems that in S24, I have to manually download each asset we want to use, but I don't have wifi at work. Is there an option I'm missing to download all the content at once?
  2. I have been researching and pricing too. Here's a guide I found very interesting: https://www.cgdirector.com/best-computer-for-animation/#priceTiers In shirt, it says you may get better viewport performance with less cores and higher clock speed. As for GPU, it will depend on your render preferences.
  3. Structural engineer is the proper term for the specific discipline in civil engineering. She specializes in designing structurally sound buildings.
  4. I’m also new to this journey and I must say I’ve learned a lot from Cineversity. I’ve been practicing their tutorials with my wife who’s a design engineer and recently became interested. It’s great to have a life partner interested in learning, but there’s also great folks here who share your passion.
  5. I cannot get my takes to record changes in "auto take" mode, with or without "lock override" mode enabled. Is this a known bug? Rig: MacBook Pro M1 16gb
  6. Can’t wait to see more CUDA vs AMD comparisons on redshift with the flagship cards. I’ve been comparing build costs between the two for a render machine. I can’t believe how far GPU rendering has come and still not far enough.
  7. I certainly don't intend to use my laptop screen, though that may been the case outside of home, I do have an external 30" monitor. I'm hoping to become proficient enough to do some groundwork on the laptop and consider a dedicated render machine. Not sure what machine that will be 3 months from now...Intel/AMD, but I'm paying attention to what people are using in this forum. What do you think about an ITX form factor PC with power x16 card? Any downsides to having a compact render machine with good CPU/GPU?
  8. So I swapped the M1 Mini 8gb for the M1 MacBook Pro 16gb. Rendered the Grapes scene in 4mins, 47sec. I have a few background processes running for audio interface, thunderbolt dock, and network monitoring (my daily needs), but it still ran well compared to the results mentioned above with intel machines. You can see the fans did ramp up quite a bit, the CPU was at 100% as I guess it normal for rendering. I think the MacMini may do a little better because of thermals. I guess this would be a great modeling machine? Perhaps Apple's tower may be more interesting for rendering. Here's the results attached below. The iStastistica screenshot was taken around 4 minutes into the render.
  9. I happen to have an M1 MacMini now (returning it this week though and waiting for February MacBook Pro delivery). If there’s a scene you want me to render I’ll try, but I’m just a toddler in C4D, so don’t send anything that requires expert knowledge. Or maybe you we can do a team viewer or similar remote control and you can control my Mac Mini. I too am interested in the performance as I aspire to be a C4D professional while staying on this entry M1 platform. I’m surprised the big shots aren’t making videos on YouTube about real-time performance, I’ve been searching for weeks. I specialize in music composition and video editing. As for M1 native apps (Logic Pro/Final Cut), performance has been phenomenal. I edit a lot of 4K drone footage and its impressively smooth while applying fx to ProRes format. Certain thunderbolt docks cause kernel panics (I’m using Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Pro dock). Hopefully the upcoming OWC dock will be more reliable.
