  1. Agreed. i will be running tests to see where it falls when doing cross platform rendering I will turn on for example CPU and GPU but NOT “Hybrid rendering” for example.. though I might be thinking octane.. if it is RS then yeah that WAS Slower.
  2. I have also managed to get TeamRendering working in the same fashion…. Also with Cpu/GPus all happy with the Mac Studio and RTX 4090 PC in the corner.
  3. Well. i’m seriously not gonna renew forester i don’t thing.. … waiting to see where this is going. - I also realized that now Redshift is up on the RNDR network.. one less tic for Octane in my book. why fight city hall and have to convert materials etc.. when i can still get all the scalability advantages now. Also Timed Releases.. and not waiting weeks for octane to update with C4d etc. its less elegant of a render node system an costs me about 20 bucks more a MO.. Come one Maxon give us some cheap-ish render nodes!
  4. I went with octane.. no need to use team render or install all kinda stuff on the render nodes just Octanes sand alone render daemon. takes min or so to do.. no copying over plugins either… so i’m sad they won’t give us other render engine materials.. Octane gives you 10 render nodes with your sub.. meanhwhile RS you need to buy a full bloody seat for each node!…. wtf..
  5. It would seem anyone with Maxon One will have access to the entire catalogue … now named Redshift Trees. I’m happy and sad.. what you wanna bet they only give out Redshift materials! BOO! https://x.com/maxonvfx/status/1876645083652464661?s=61
  6. I figured i would attach this here… i had it over buried in otoys forums. I am one that despises PCs but “for the moment” 3d rendering on the GPU is in the hands of “nvidia” sadly… I managed to put together a great “HYBRID” setup that lets you have the best of both worlds. For similar reasons why i love C4d for its consistency and elegance.. i’m also a Mac user for a lot of the same reasons. If i didn’t need an RTX card on the PC i wouldn’t own a PC at all. (I suspect once apple gets to the M5 M6 era this will no longer be an issue) But until then.. here is what i came up with. Cinema 4d on Mac Studio with a PC (over in the corner no screen) acting like a DUMB EGPU for the mac to use both for Final Frame rendering as well as IPR previews. all over a 10GB cat 8 cable. using Octane Render. NOTE: if you buy octane you get 10 free render notes.. (put them on all your PCs.. LOL) - Redshift on the other hand.. Maxon is bloody greedy and you need to buy a FULL RS seat and they don’t have render notes.. ALSO you need to setup either OLD team render or..something complex like Deadline.. both UGGGGG! - So after running all those previous solutions…i settled on Octane.. and never looked back! it was sooooo easy to setup and you only need to install the render node daemon on each PC..and enable Network rendering in the octane control panel for both final frame and under the settings for the live viewer. (Mac render node in the works) - this way no copying plugins or full C4d installs no licensing bs.. with octane!… Also octane live viewer will ALSO make use of your network node machines as well not just for Final Frame rendering! This setup very very scaleable.. if you need things faster… its practically now a single one button push to upload your scene or c4d file to the RENDER network! This allows for hundreds of GPUs to render your project in like 15 mins. LOL If you have questions let me know.. see Attached PDF. Mac PC OCTANE Network node setup and hardware.pdf
  7. Reminds me a bit of all the hard work William Vaughn did for the Lightwave / Modo communities over the years.. again .. its about community and growing the user base.. Get C4d into the hands of kids and classrooms.. be a bit less greedy and grow your userbase.. it worked very well for asshole companies like AD and Avid
  8. yeah if you want AD like adoption do what they and Avid did.. get it into the classroom!.. get it into the hands of many… you will then Grow your user base.. DUH…! come on Maxon.. be just a “tiny bit less greedy!” and you will grow much faster.
  9. This is why i chose C4d as well and tried blender and ran right back to C4d despite its price!.. however.. i much prefer OCTANE Render to any other.. not only is is pretty friendly and looks great out of the box but its way more scalable GPU wise.. I can use the Mac studio i have along with a PC in the corner running “no screen” and it acts like a giant EGPU for the mac with just loading on one of my octane render nodes..*NOTE you get 10* its one quick software install with no loading of cinema or plugin etc.. none of that hasstle!.. just works… also if i need more power i just click a button and shove it up to the RNDR (Render Network) can’t argue with that!
  10. Well remember it was those same people that built lightwave originally… its only when they moved on and others took over LW development that things changed and re did the core and got it to be a great program.. which even to this day is now being reborn again.. its a friggen phoenix…
  11. I would like to just see a modern PTex plug-in that works…. (Apple silicon & windows please! ) fir c4d 2024…that I can then pipe & bake it over into use for redshift… can anybody make that possible??
