  1. Hello I am working with the latest version of Zbrush. When I select a rectangualr area (when in an elevation) using the rectangular mask brush and then scale +- Y I get the geometry distorting as seen in the jpg. I have tried increasing the resolution and the distortion is just more detailed as a result. The tuition video that I am working from cleanly pinchs the rectangles thickness with no distortion. Is there something that I am missing? Many thanks. JakS
  2. I think this idea will solve it. Thank you. I will need to investigate the ways of increasing the resolution but I have just tried Geometry Higher Res and have yet to experience the same issue.
  3. Hello I am new to Zbrush and experiencing erratic brush behaviour. I have a x64 Windows 10 laptop with 16GB of RAM, plenty of HD space, an Intel i7 2.6GHZ processor and a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970M graphics card. Looking at the minimum specs, the machine should be powerful enough but the graphics card may not be enough? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. 612838424_NewProject.mp4
  4. Thanks Bentraje. I am assuming that it has been through a number of iterations so was hoping not to have to fork out £800 .
  5. Hello. I am keen to investiagte Zbrush for character modelling. I have been working with Cinema 4D and am starting to see the advantages of working with Z Brush - for at least some of the working pipeline. Does anyone have a perpetual licence for Zbrush that they are wanting to sell? Many thanks. JakS
  6. Too quick to respond. Isoline editing doesn't appear to achieve this. This is what I get with that option selected.
  7. Many thanks Cerbera! I should have elaborated! The image is from a training video and the tutor didn't explain how to achieve the setting they were using. Great to now know how to achieve this.
  8. Hello Can anyone guide me to the short cut that allows me to work with my geometry while it is directly on the subdivision surfave - rather that the default which is away from the surface? Many thanks.
  9. Thanks Dan. And Bobby - I will check out Rocketlasso for sure.
  10. Thanks Cairyn. Not entirely sure where to find the settings for the move tool. I have simply been switching between World or Object and that has sufficed so far.
  11. Thanks Bezo. That was the vibe I was aiming at.
  12. Many thanks for the replies. The polygon pen is a joy. Thanks for that. CTRL did the trick used in the video. Great to have options. Cheers Bezo. I will get onto the profile.
  13. Hello I have been following a Youtube modelling video that is video only ie no voice over narration. The modeller is pulling new polygons out from edges with a tool that I can't locate. Can anyone recognise the cursor symbol from the attached jpg? Many thanks in advance!
  14. Many thanks for the warm welcome!
  15. Hello all Over the years I have tried getting the ball rolling with 3D - first trying Maya and then 3DS Max. I didn't get on with either application. During lockdown I jumped head first into Cinema 4D and have not regretted it. I am focussing on character modelling and using mocap data to bring the results to life. I started with an introductory course with Greyscale Gorilla and then moved onto a couple of Mograph Mentor courses. I am now making may way through a course with Motion Design School alongside various Youtube videos. Zbrush is the next target and it is great to know that it has recently been aquired by Maxon. I have attached an image of a character I made at the same time as following the training from Joey Judkins' Mograph Mentor course. Looking forward to talking all things Cinema 4D on this site. Jake

  18. Hi. I am a relative newbie to Cinema 4D but am loving it. I started an online course at the beginning of the first lockdown and am now 3/4 of the way through a character modelling/rigging and animation course. Today I hit various issues - tools behaving in unexpected ways. One I eventually resolved but I will be asking for assistance via the main forum shortly! It is a fantastic app and I am looking forward to testing out what it can do. All the best.
