  1. Thanks again Happypolygon. I'm more familiar to that kind of modelling, however I don't seem to fully understand some of your pointers. I'll start modelling and then come back if I run into a problem. I know @cerbera, he/she has helped me a lot in the past. Can't wait to see if he/she comes up with a different approach.
  2. Hello Happypolygon, I don't know why I didn't get a notification about your response. I even went into this browser tab and didn't see it updated up until now. Thanks for your answer Happypolygon I will work it that way. I've never used 3D paint but I will certainly give it a try. Would you use it to create the "well" of the follicle? That's, at this stage, what I find more challenging.
  3. Hi Happypolygon, sorry for the belated response. These few days have been awful and busy. Thanks for taking the time to go so thoroghly into my post and for the references. What I meant when talking about 3D demos not looking professional enough was that there are plenty of them on stock footage platforms but very few look really well done. Not taking into account accuracy just looks. My reference is Tv advertising yes. I'm sorry I wasn't specific in this particular subject but I just assumed it was understood the TV spots demos are what everyone has in mind when talking about skin/hair care 3D animation. Mmm they have plenty room for improvement which is my goal. I'm not a well experienced 3D designer but I want to create nice 3D pieces. No, we're after the usual TV ad demo look. This is a very small house, there is the boss, a manager that does some postproduction work, one in-house post-production specialist and two or three freelancers that come and work in the office when needed. So I'll be the art director and also in charge of the 3D creation. As for the details of the look of the demo, those are great points you mention. I believe the approach will be a cross section of the scalp on pastel colors with semi-realistic skin layers. They're not looking for realism, there will be no glands, artheries, or anything that isn't related to the script. About the script, it's very simple. The idea is to show a cross-section of the scalp showing the insides of a hair follicle with spheres depicting the DHT hormone sticking to it, debilitating the hair. I'm not sure if we're going to need to show the hair thinning and getting loose but it's a possibility. Then there's a second part when we show how the product is absorbed by the skin and fortifying the follicle. I hope I was clear enough this time, thanks again.
  4. Hello, I recently joined a production house that makes a lot of skin and hair care videos which include 3D demos. There are lots of demos like that out there but very few look professional enough. I wonder if anyone here kwows where I can find this kind of work to use as reference both for project planing with my boss and for the work itslef. Also, since this is a very specific type of 3D work I'm constantly stuck as figuring out where to begin the scenes. For the next project I need to create a scalp with hair follicles that show how they debilitate over life. My first challenge is to model the scalp with the pores where the hair grows from. I'm thinking creating the vault with a boolean of an sphere inside the box that makes the scalp. Then using the clip plane feature to cut the box and make the insides visible. I know there are lots of really experienced artists here and I'm curious if that's how you'd approach this, I guess not. 😛 Thanks a lot. Sorry I didn't notice I posted in the wrong category. I don't seem to be able to change it.
  5. I got you!! Thanks a lot my friend. I'm the one you helped about the Baseball jersey some weeks ago btw. It went great. There's always room to improve of course but I'm happy with it. Thak you for that too.
  6. Wow!! That's awesome!! Thanks Cerbera I'll work on that. But maybe I'm missing something but you didn't mention how to deal with the inclination of the bleachers. I tried extruding a simple spline and then bringing up a selection of the outer edges of the bleachers and it worked for the tilt but then I failed to give it the subdivisions needed to make the steps. I tried sliding the edge inwards but it kept bringing the polys up on the ends of the blwacher object.
  7. Thank you for taking the time to go trough this so in detail Cerbera. Unfortunately I can't say I understand your explanation completely. To be honest I'm lost ahahah. What do you mean with center bit? Also, I'm assuming this method you are suggesting is a completely different approach to what I was having, right? I'm assuming I'm starting all over. In this new approach what use would my shapes from illustrator have? I basically drew the general shape of stadium from above, including the field and bleachers. I'll attach an image of that.
  8. You're right I forgot to mention I'm not looking for an exact model of the actual thing. In fact I'm after a less detailed model of the real stadium which is the Oakland Coliseum. I'm looking for a model like they used in the MLB Ballpark Empire game. They created iconized kind of cartooned versions of the stadiums which I find great. But now that you mention it modelling a real life version wouldn't be that bad either. I'm attaching references to both the real life stadium and references I could find of the game I mentioned above. The game has been discontinued for years now so there's little out there.
  9. Thanks for your reply Cerbera. As I said I'm not an expert modeller. I used my limited knowledge in modelling to create this. I still haven't gotten into thinking about performance of the 3D scenes I make. I get like really focused on how to solve things with what I know and youtube tutorials. But performance is certainly as important as the look of the finished model. I will try to keep it in mind for now on. What method would you use to model them? Maybe creating a section of the seating and repeating with an array? What about the field level seats? That section should follow the field shape. Having skills to approach this differently should be great. I would love to hear your suggestions. Thank you.
  10. Hi there, I'm an intermediate user of cinema and I'm stuck with this issue. I'm modelling a baseball stadium. For the bleachers I created the profiles for each deck in illustrator and then put them inside sweep objects with an arc for direction. It worked fine for the 2nd and upper decks but not too good for the field level seats. They should follow the shape of the field which obviously is not circular. I tried many approaches but none have worked out so far. I tried extruding another spline imported from illustrator with the shape of the field and then lifting the outer line of segments to create the tilt that bleachers have but when sliding the edge inwards to create subdivisions I could use to create the steps the geometry got messed up on the ends of the object. Tried creating a disc with many segments and cutting it with the shape of the infield and then extruding but didn't know how properly create the tilt from there. So that's why I come here asking for help on how would a more experienced user would approach this. I'm attaching pictures and the project in case anyone feels like helping. Thanks a lot!! stadium.c4d
  11. That's totally fine. As I said I hope I won't face much trouble since this should not be a too complex cloth simulation, let me stress that I HOPE!!! Sorry fot the caps hahaha. I forgot to answer the UV maps you talked about. I do have a customized UV map, it's placing the patches right where I want. One again friend, thank you very much. I will get back at you in case I run into something weird which according to my experience with 3D it's a very likely scenario.
  12. Yeah I missed the baking the sculpt step. I'm lost at the technical deficiencies of cinema's handling of cloth simulation since this is merely my first project involving that. I hope I don't get to know it fully here. You've been of great help on this Cerbera, thank you. Oh btw, they told me a workaround on Redshift displaying the front map on the back when Cloth Surface is involved. You have to give it a negative value on the thickness.
  13. Yes, you're right. I took for granted it was clear what I wanted to do but it isn't . The good thing is I do intend to have the jersey be worn by an animated character but he will be invisible, I just need the shirt to follow his movements. Also the idea is for those movements to be really simple. Just so the shirt is not stading there still. This will be a pseudo ad for the jersey. So, I would need to sculpt, simulate and then add the thickness?
  14. Hello, I'm sorry you had a crash and lost data. I've had a few of those so I know the pain. I went on and followed your advice on adding control edges near the armpits and then redistributing geometry. While I'm not 100% satisfied with the results it's definitely closer to the look I wanted. I remembered why I needed the cloth surface to remain unbaked. I need to sculpt the cloth to give it a more natural look and I was told that baking the CS would not work well when sculpting after. So, keeping in mind I need to add the buttons to the shirt and simulating cloth again, what would you recommend the procesure to be? I thinlk first I sculpt, then the buttons, then the simulation. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you very much friend.
  15. Thank you very much for your help Cerbera. From what I see in the picture I think what you did works fine. When you talk about redistributing the loops you do that sliding the edges? Can I get the project back and maybe start from there? The intention of the model is to create an ad type animation and I can't remember why I was told I needed the cloth surface to be editable. If I remember correctly it had to do with the next cloth simulation I must perform. Regarding the extra level of subdivision provided by the Cloth Surface, I was experimenting with that. When I have the cloth surface providing more subdivision I turn off the SDS. I wasn't sure about the hierarchy too so it's nice to have your input. I will post it in the redshift forum to see if someone has a workaround for that issue. Thanks again for such a detailed help.
