How do youtubers record their speedpaints/speedmodeling ? Allowing a recording app to record on hours would require a lot of memory and HDD space which would burden a system running C4D further. So I assume there is some kind of app that either snapshots the desktop in regular intervals like most timelapse apps in smartphones or there is an option to snapshot the desktop upon clicks and keypressses or there is an option to record with very low framerate. None of those methods where available on any app I've met (including OBS)...

I think this could be a real-time effect without the use of an AI. What makes it more "real" is the occlusion of detail and making the lighting less saturated. This is an effect that relies on how we are used to see the real world through a dashboard camera. It's not that the AI makes the footage more real but out perceptive expectations of this kind of footage. For me it looks like a late 90's dashboard camera. In other words it looks like a "real dashboard camera footage". The only thing that AI done really good (in my opinion) and can't be faked with post-effects is the removal of the road erosions (but I consider this an artistic intervention because the AI was dependent on the training footage which contained only good looking german roads, if Rockstar wanted smooth roads it wouldn't put so much effort on road details) So if anyone has the knowledge and equipment please post a small experimental footage edited with AfterEffects with the following setting : The output video resolution must be half of the input. Add a LUT or colour filter with reduced saturation and a shift towards green (like the MATRIX trilogy) Optionally add a smart blur or slight softness or a lot of antialiasing.

So, they intentionally delayed the shipment just for the pun ? Is it worth it ? (purely from the point of view of a VFX professional not a movie fan) Did it contain info about the amount of memory, scene file sizes, render times, software used, time of production, technical problems they faced and how they overcame them ? I started with 3D graphics at the age of 11-12 with Bryce 4 the last version belonging to MetaCreations Image's for Cerbera I wish C4D had those fractal shaders.

This is a WIP from my MTG recreations in 3D series. I think this will be one of those projects I will never be satisfied enough to publish as final. All is vanilla C4D except the far background trees and shrubs that were imported from VUE. Also the creature and foreground trees were textured using Substance. Problems I want to solve: The main reason this will remain forever a WIP is the unbearably long render time. Proper lighting is essential to make this project sufficiently worthy publishing. But I don't know how to cut render times when it comes to foliage. Any geometry that has an alpha texture for leaves takes too long to render, for example the shrubs next to the creature took almost an hour to render for a region about 30x60 pixels. (Total render time 10h) I really cannot unsee the d*ck. No matter the changes to length or width I make it still is more prevalent than the original art and I can't understand what makes it so subtle in the original. Transferring 2D artwork in 3D has taut me a lot. Inner working of brain perception and interpretation: The 2D artist uses splotches of color and brushstrokes with ease and portrays forms that are interpreted by the viewer as numerous flowers, tree brunches and intricate foliage and rock textures. I can't reach that level of workflow in 3D. I have to model every single element with a lot more steps than just a simple brushstroke. It's one thing building the information of a form in pixels and a totally different building it in polygons. I see a 2D art and I never get bothered that a leaf or flower is not well defined. I see a 3D art and if that flower is not a flower a get instant triggered. Perspective: 2D artists have so much freedom with perspective. Most 2D painting have a ton of perspective faults even if the artist was getting help from horizon escape guidelines. Those faults no matter how big, the average viewer will never be annoyed by them. Try making some perspective tricks in 3D and it's so obvious. Credits for the original: Daarken

Purely for inspirational and technical reasons. Anyone who thinks a movie, tv commercial, music clip or game (be it cinematic trailer or backstage) is worth looking for its technical feats or because a scene was made in C4D (or not) should post it there. This way there will be a special topic for people to be informed about : new movies related to CGI movies that were made with C4D (or other Maxon products) games (or assets) that were made with C4D (or other Maxon products) commercials and music clips that were made with C4D (or other Maxon products) and have a topic were people can analyze and discus how some effects, simulations, scenes were made. We could even make a topic to list all movies where C4D was used (it's good to know what C4D is capable of for the big screen). I don't know... I'm new here, I don't know how often people post movie/game topics, but in a week I saw 2. And I don't know how to find other posts like this if there isn't a dedicated sub-forum.

@CerberaMy hardware is very low specs and my patience for long renders also low But for this particular render (more than a year old) I think I had set a very blurry reflective floor and background, so no matter the settings there would always be a grain. Somehow the grain for this particular render gives me the impression of a more realistic depiction reminiscent of old photographs and that effect gets more justified with the low lighting giving the center object a more jewel-like character on display which I wasn't intended for but rather intended for an abstract object.

My intention was to create a simple fractal-like snowflake but with curves. So instead of using the classic Turtle mode I used the MoSpline inside a MoSpline inside a Cloner. The Object manager got a bit more complicated than I expected but now that I think of it It could get simpler using Instance Objects ala shapiro500 (video) -

I've never understood how that license works... What prevents the owner from hiding earnings from SideFX ? Even if SideFX compels the user to submit to them any kind of state-acknowledged legal financial reports it doesn't prevent fraudulence... I guess the evidence are submitted via email (so they can be photoshoped). Unless they do it by postage. And what if that amount is exceeded ? Is there a kind of penalty depending on the extra earnings ? -

I've had the same idea for an indie version a few weeks ago. But what would a good price tag for that be ? And being an indie version implies that it will have some kind of limited functionality compared to the full Studio Version. What features are most likely to be ignored or less used by an independent user to compensate for the lower cost when removed ?
