  1. No, I did it in a really primitive way. I made hundreds of copies of the candies and animated them dropping into a hidden container. I did it the same way with round candies and it worked perfectly. The only difference I can think of is for the round candies I started with a sphere, but for the oblong ones I box modeled them. I need to figure out what the export and import of the the OBJs does to the models. I'm probably doing something simple in an unnecessarily complex way.
  2. I just have the candies as rigid bodies and the container as a collider body. I came up with a workaround where I exported the candies as OBJs, imported them back into C4D and reapplied the surface. The mapped art stayed put but I still don't know what the problem actually was.
  3. I included what I thought was relevant. I seriously expected requests for what i might have left out.
  4. I'm creating a static image of candy filling a container but when I animate it, the individual candies get distorted. any idea what I'm doing wrong?
  5. I liked Lightwave for how direct the modeling tools were and I had a hard time getting used to C4D's tools, but the rest of it was 20 years out of date. Any time you wanted to do anything different you had to download some guy's plug in that he programmed in his basement. I always owned my own copy but when my company wanted 3D software I couldn't recommend something like that.
  6. Thanks. I'm almost done limping through this project so changing render engine would logically be next. Sounds like Redshift is pretty standard, is that right?
  7. here's a partially rendered version of what I'm doing. I'm rendering life size (the candies are a 1/2 in diameter) so the geometry's pretty dense Yes, I'm using the native renderer. Would changing be enough to speed things up?
  8. Thanks for answering Product renderings. The image is of a large transparent container filled with hard shell candies. Height is about 10000px. System specs attached.
  9. Working on a job right now where I'm going to need faster renderings. the stuff I do in 3D is fairly primitive so speed has never been much of an issue.I use C4D right out of the box, no plug ins or extensions of any kind so I really don't know where to start. The images I'll be creating have a large pixel dimension with A LOT of polys. The very basic setup I currently use is taking about a day per image which isn't going to work with my deadline. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. "Why would it be a mode when Object Move and Object Rotate do exactly the same thing as Model Move and Model Rotate?" I don't get it either but as good as C4D there's plenty of stuff in it that doesn't make sense.
  11. Chester, I'm heartbroken. People like you make asking simple questions on a forum the absolute last available option. You could have answered my question and been done with it but you chose to include commentary as well. So gratitude? You don't deserve any. The toxicity is your fault and now you're whining because I called you on it.
  12. I felt like you were being an a hole. You might as well have said "you must be completely ignorant of the way this software works" C4D is a narrow portion of what I do. I also do traditional illustration, video editing, managing a department, etc. This was an irritating detail that I've meant to address for a while so I came here and asked a question. How about this: you stay off of my threads and I'll return the favor. Man, this board
  13. I don't doubt that it's true. I'm just annoyed at the dismissive nature of the reply.
  14. I'm not a new user and this was never a problem before
  15. It used to be that when I scaled an object to say, .5 It would stay .5 until I changed it. Now if I change the number to .5 or any other number it scales the object but the number jumps back to 1. What am I doing wrong?
  16. I did a few searches on here and couldn't find my answer. I posed these rigged hands I made and I want to freeze the geometry and get rid of all of the joints. I managed to do it by exporting as an OBJ and reopening it but is there something more direct?
  17. My company just got a job for some signage in the Prudential Center in New Jersey. I found a model online but they only have the exterior and the arena. I need the interior of the tower indicated in my attachment. I emailed the creator of the model to ask if they have the part I need but haven't heard back. If anyone has this or knows where I can buy it please let me know. This is for our presentation only and I'd be using it in Cinema4d.
  18. Not the answer I wanted, but an answer. Thank you.
  19. My actual question is why aren't the textures working?
  20. I have the obj, the mtl, and the texture files all in the same folder with no sub folders
  21. I'm using R25 right out of the box with no other software. The files were exported from Maya and they were using arnold.
  22. I was given a bunch of obj files by my client which I've opened before but I don't know what to do with the .mtl files. There's a bunch of textures, as well but I don't know what to do to get these files to work together.
  23. He's under the mistaken impression that he's good at everything. I pay as little attention to him as possible because the most hurtful thing you can do to narcissists is ignore them.
  24. I needed a model of a backpack the other day and my boss, who knows NOTHING about 3D goes on line and picks one. I got an email from him saying "use this one" and he sent another to the account executive saying "show this to the client and get an approval". He then came to me in person and said "I picked a backpack for that job". I replied "that doesn't help me". When he asked me why I said "I need to know what the poly count is, what format, whether it has U.V. maps and if it's rigged". He replied "Well I picked one that looks good and it has polygons and stuff".
