  1. OOh now I understand it. ok so at least that could be an easier way to pose the chains on mannequins or people 🙂 I'll need to dive more into rigging and find a fast and easy way to rig chains made of hundreds of links without going crazy!
  2. usually I have around 50 or more links, does it mean that I need to place 50 joints? I tried that solution but then I'm having a hard time moving the necklace using IK.. Am I missing something? Unfortunatly rigid body is not an option as the scale of the objects is very small and the mesh are quite heavy. Also as you said if I would like to animate the chain as it was a snake that wouldn't help. Actually being able to make the neklace moving like a snake would be something very interesting...
  3. Hi everyone! I've been lurking around this forum a lot and finally I decided to ask you a question regarding a matter that always makes me struggle. I usually make renderings for the jewelry industry and when they ask me to make bracelets and necklaces/chains I always struggle in finding a way to easily place and position all the links they are made of. I'm attaching an example of a kind of bracelet I usually work on. For this kind of stuff I usually make a single link and clone it on a spline. The issue is that when I adjust the spline, the single links move and I always need to adjust the cloner parameters to make it so that the chain starts and ends are positioned and oriented in the way they should be. This is especially painful when the chain has elements like opening/closing clasps that must be connected to the links chain. Whenever I can I build the chain in a linear way and then use spline wrap to place the chain, but this way only work when I don't have tight bends and usually it becomes a real mess with the banking if I fiddle around too much with it. What could be a convenient and fast way to make this kind of stuff? I would like to be able to model the bracelet in a flat/linear way, then position it easily with some kind of easy to make rig. Even better, I would love to be able to animate it. I hope I've been clear with my problem, and that some of the guru here can give me some new advice, I searched around the web a lot without success!
