  3. Oh! Erm, right, in that case, I really did misunderstand him. Sorry @Igor
  4. Because I do this for free anyway, and don't want to build a website or even just a download section just for free open source plugins. The download section of GitHub is functional, why would I want to invest extra work? Cheers, Frank
  5. Hello, just a short notice: FlockModifier 0.7.8 also runs in R23 and S24, and you can now download builds from GitHub.com: https://github.com/fwilleke80/FlockModifier/releases/tag/0.7.8 Still free and open source. Greetings, Frank
  6. Hello, since Cinema 4d S24 has now been officially released, I can now announce that Terraform4D, the art-directable terrain generation system for Cinema 4D, is now available for S24, too! Your existing activation key will continue to work, as long as S24 is installed on the same machine. Just download the S24 build of Terraform4D from the website: https://terraform4d.com Best greetings, Frank @Terraform4D
  7. Hello, Terraform4D 1.1 has just been released! Version 1.1 is a free update for Terraform4D, and comes with many exciting new features: Solid Terrain Optionally add a solid base to the terrain, giving the impression it was sliced from a larger landscape. Texture the base separately from the terrain, and use UV mapping to create sedimental structures with ease. 5 new Blend Modes Five interesting new blend modes that combine operators in interesting and detailed ways. * Overlay * Negation * Screen * Soft Light * Hard Light Erosion Operator The new Erosion Operator simulates the effects Thermal Weathering and Coastal Erosion on the terrain. Quantize Operator Quantizes a terrain in as many steps as the Count attribute dictates. This creates hard terraces that are suitable for a non-photorealistic look. If you apply a Blur Operator to the output, you get more realistic results. Terrain HUD The terrain HUD displays information about the active terrain(s) and operator(s), and can be customized in the Terraform4D preferences. Improved Distortion The Distortion feature for Noise and Gradient Operators now has the ability to stick to the operator object. Additionally, it can be offset manually. Don’t leave your random variations up to chance! Difference Map for Filter Operators Filter Operators now provide a Difference Map that can be rendered with the Operator Shader, and is available in the Bitmap Export as well. Improved Adjustment Operator Enabling this option will make the Offset behave like in previous versions. Offset is defined by a percentage of the altitude range of the input terrain. Disabling this option will change Offset to absolute values. Now you can even offset a completely flat terrain, and use the Adjustment Operator as a Generator. Improved Filter Kernels The reworked filter code provides higher quality with potentially shorter calculation time. Here's a detailed list of the changes: https://www.terraform4d.com/terraform4d/whats-new-in-1-1 The new version can now be downloaded from the Terraform4D Website. If you're not a Terraform4D user yet, you might like the discount coupon that will grant you 18% off for the next 10 days: **SPRINGTIME21** Terraform4D Website... Enjoy, Frank
  8. Hi, I have quickly updated my old TrainDriver plugin to work in R20 - R23. Chain up trains and let them drive on splines! Also great for roller coasters. https://github.com/fwilleke80/TrainDriver/releases/tag/1.2.1 Builds for Windows and macOS. The Mac builds are notarised and support the M1, too. Cheers, Frank

    Terraform4D released!

Just released another one: The Shader Operator In this video, we'll use Terraform4D's Shader Operator to create a terrain from a shader or from real-world elevation data, and integrate it into a procedural landscape. Cheers, Frank

And another short video, this time about the Group Operator:
  11. Haha, you guys, why didn't I just post this on the beta forum? 😅
  12. Hello, since many people asked me for it, I have updated my old PointProjector for newer C4D releases: https://github.com/fwilleke80/PointProjector/releases/tag/1.4.4 Non-destructive projecting of splines and polygon objects on surfaces, with support for weight maps and falloffs / fields. Enjoy, Frank

    Terraform4D released!

Hi, Here's a quick tutorial about Terraform4D's Adjustment Operator. This underrated operator can do many things, especially with Fields masking, and it'll grow on you once you use it more often. Local adjustments, mountains, lakes, plateaus, even filled spline shapes. Greetings, Frank

Awesome, thank you! I'll link this on the website, too!

    Terraform4D released!

If you separate basic landscape and detail structures into separate Terraform4D operators, you can already export the detail operators in high res, then decrease the terrain resolution and use the exported maps for displacement. Automating this wouldn’t hurt, I agree 😉

    Terraform4D released!

Displacement is already possible. The Terrain Object, as well as every single operator, can export their own results. I thought about a normal map, but it's probably not much use to just export the terrain normals, is it? I guess people would rather want to bake the normals of a high resolution terrain against a simplified polygon geometry? I must admit, I didn't dive too deep into the baking topic yet, as there's so much other exciting stuff in the pipeline for Terraform4D 🙂 Will put it on my list of things to look into, tough!

    Terraform4D released!

Haha, great! I also used TrainDriver a lot for a GE project (GE Transportation), about 13 years ago. ^_^ That is one of the next things to add. While it was easy to put into a little bonus object like SPREADscape, it requires some more thinking to get it right with an extensive system like Terraform4D. But it is in the making and will, once finished, come through an update. We thought about that during beta. A generator that creates/changes vertex maps in the scene would have some implications, regarding threading and undos. Therefore, it's recommended to use the Operator Shader (for all renderers that support C4D channel shaders), or export the operators' caches for everything else (http://help.terraform4d.com/content/obaseterrainoperator.html#TERRAINOPERATOR_EXPORT_MODE).

    Terraform4D released!

Chances are good, that was me 😉 SPREADscape was the first terrain generator I wrote back when I made SurfaceSPREAD, 13 years ago (or so). It has some similar features, but Terraform4D offers so much more. * Completely multithreaded and far more advanced algorithms (I did learn something since then 😉 ) and sooo much faster * Allows unlimited number of layers that can be sorted, blended and grouped * Offers more different terrain operations The two plugins do not share any code, and are very different, regarding performance and usability.

    Terraform4D released!

I am very happy to annouce the release of Terraform4D, a modular, layer based terrain generator for Cinema 4D! Terraform4D brings art directable terrains to Cinema 4D, allowing you to generate terrains of almost any complexity with its intuitive operator system. Build terrains layer by layer from noises, shaders, textures, splines and gradients! Take advantage of the many available blend modes, and constrain operators using masks. Shape your terrains with a range of filters, and shade them with the help of Terraform4D's operator shader! The plugin can be downloaded from the website, and everybody is invited to generate their own demo activation key that will work for one month. The price for a perpetual activation is €59.99 for an introductory two weeks. After that, it will cost €79.99. Terraform4D will receive free point updates later on. https://terraform4d.com
  22. Hi! Thanks, I think it turned out really nice, too. Actually, release is imminent 😉 I will record more video tutorials, definitely. I don't own U-Render or Octane. But since Terraform4D is a generator like other Cinema 4d objects, too, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. It was used with V-Ray and Corona during the beta test, that worked fine. If U-Render and Octane support Cinema 4D channel shaders, you can even use the Terrain Operator Shader in your projects. If those renderers don'T support C4D channel shaders, you can still export operators' caches to 32-bit TIFF and use them in your materials like any other texture. Cheers, Frank
  23. Yeah, I'd like to have Curve as the default Contour Mode, too. The thing is, that Fields are created by the FieldsList UI element, which is a standard in Cinema 4D. I cannot change the default attributes of what it creates. But I might look into that, maybe there is a way around that. The default Blend Mode is a question of how you work, really. Usually many people would want to layer some noises (or other operators) on top of each other to create the terrain. In that case, Add is the best way to go, as Normal would simply overwrite the previous operators with the last one. When masking with Fields, Normal is in deed the mode most often used. EDIT: I thought the "Set as Default" option in the Attribute Manager should do the trick. But it doesn't work. I've opened a topic in the MAXON Tech Support forum about that 😉 EDIT 2: While I did get the stored "Default Object" to work when adding new terrain operators, it does not work with fields created by the Field List. Confirmed Cinema 4D bug.
  24. If you want to have an early peek at the workflow, here's a video tutorial I recorded. Complete with "cherman akzent" 😂 Terraform4D :: Creating a landscape matching a concept sketch
