About Me
I found out about Cinema 4D when I saw an advert in the local newspaper about a C4D course. I was thrilled by the thought I could make some 3D myself one day. At the moment I applied the course was full, but the people who organized the course where willing to give me an illegal version for a whopping 300 euros
I bought a student version of R8 a half year later and started exploring the world of 3D. I remember the date exact the 28th of December 2003, my life has never been the same since. (I celebrate the day!)
I worked through some tutorials at a dutch community site cinema4d.nl (not there anymore), but found out that clicking on things myself was the best way to learn something. And forums has always been an important factor in increasing my knowledge.
Over the years I stopped working with cinema 4D quite some times, but after a month or 2 it was itching again and I couldn't resist picking up c4d again. And I am glad I did!
I began as a moderator for a dutch community site c4dnexus.nl in 2006 to help other people and to give them the same opportunity to develop skills and interest in c4d as I could when I started. I like solving problems in c4d and do that a lot on community sites, mostly because I learn so much myself from it.
Nowadays I have my own studio: Spot Design Studio and I am working together with the best 3D artists Groningen has to offer at Los Digitalos. I love working with c4d and I better have to, because I am working with cinema4d 60+ hours a week and after I get home from a long day at work I find the urge to make some hobby projects in my spare time.
2 of my best friends are Kingcoma and Marcvz, 2 incredible talented persons where I learn a lot from, and hopefully they also from me
Recently I have adopted Unity3D to the pipeline and just realized that I made my first game. It's funny that when you ask a random person what profession they wanted when growing up, they almost never have become what they wanted to be. I must be living the dream as I always wanted to be a GameDesigner and by finishing this last project I technically am
Still no saving the earth or collecting coins but running around a house in realtime can be considered a game.
As you can see I like 3D a lot and spent most of my time working with it. So there's no time for sunbathing, drinking beer or girlfriends. But hey, you have to give up on something in order to become the best. And I don't have the illusion that I'll ever be the best, but I can't help trying
Thank you for reading,
Cheers!
