  1. 😭 Those videos would still be relevant even today. IE BodyPaint hasn't changed in a long long time.
  2. @IgorWhat happened to 3DKiwis BodyPaint tutorial series? The links no longer point to anything.
  3. Hi @Tread Unfortunately my remapping solution is not working as well as I would like it to so I can't remap your textures for you. However depending on what you actually want to paint on your models my painting tools may help. I could send you a copy if your interested. Although your model looks to be very heavily broken up in the UV space, so the pixel resolution available to you to paint on will be quite limited. Especially since a 1/4 of your texture space is not even utilized at all. core4d_4dpaintdemo.mp4 Cheers, Kent
  4. I have my own plugin that can do that. But I am not selling it at the moment. I will check with some of my own megascans later tonight and see how it goes on something like this. It requires UV mapping your object again however and ensuring their are no overlapping uvs. Then doing the texture transfer. If my solution works well then I will let you know and you could send me your c4d file and textures via Dropbox or something. I can then UV map it and do the texture transfer for you. To see what my system does you can watch the video at the bottom of this page. https://plugins4d.com/Product/TextureRemapping But you could also just use the Projection Painting system in C4D itself though. You don’t need to worry about the UVs or how the textures look then.

I think what would help for a lot of hobbyists or people just wanting to get started (ie not an already established company with a budget) would be to include a very low cost Indie version of C4D. Otherwise how will MAXON attract new customers just starting.
  6. For S24 you need a 900 series or higher. You should try R21, which you can still get access to if you are on subscription I believe. Requirements for S24: https://www.maxon.net/en/requirements/cinema-4d-s24-requirements

I am curious to know what features, from S22 upwards, would you really liked to have had? I would not call R21 crappy at all.
  8. I am not personally seeing any development jobs being taken away by AI. But when you start to think of a new idea for a product you do have to seriously consider what the best approach would be now. Whether you go for the algorithmic approach and develop it based on the well defined knowledge, research and logic, or if you instead should see if there is a large data set that you could instead create a model, using machine learning, that would be able to produce a "good enough" result instead. Most recently I have been thinking about painting software for creating new materials and textures etc... and it almost makes no sense now to do it the "old" way and instead create a model based on real world photos and have it generate the texture you want. The creative feeling of painting is what I enjoy, but if you are after an end result for a production then getting to the end result as fast as you can is more desirable. And this will eventually apply to many cases in 3D, as shown by the work Nvidia are doing right now. I should probably start focusing on tools and workflows to integrate GANS into C4D. This site here is absolutely nuts. https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/ Just keep refreshing the page for new generated faces.
  9. The same thing goes for us developers as well. We are moving away from developing something that is understandable from a code/math perspective and instead are now just feeding in parameters to a black box and blindly using what ever pops out the other end, without gaining any insights or knowledge about how the results came to be. Almost feels like a dumbing down of science. A bit like just going to Wikipedia and trusting the answer is correct with no references or info how that answer came to be. Off topic but in another crazy use of AI... this company used an AI to scan users behaviour on their networks and anyone who wasn't blinding typing rubbish, sending un-required emails or creating meaningless Jira tickets was deemed "unengaged and unproductive employees" and then fired. https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/386534/Xsolla_lays_off_150_after_an_algorithm_ruled_staff_unengaged_and_unproductive.php
  10. Open the license manager (under the help menu I think in C4D) and release then activate your license. Or log onto my.MAXON.net and release the license from your machine. Then start up C4D again and it will grab that license again.
  11. Finally found the post here on the forum. Was incredibly hard to find. It doesn't seem to be under any navigateable section anymore for some reason.
  12. This might do what you need. https://cairyn.gumroad.com/l/colliesymmetryhelper
  13. Only workflow I can think of would be to divide your model into two, throw away half of it, then use the Symmetry Object.
  14. The sculpt symmetry tools will transfer sculpting detail across symmetrically on your model. But your base mesh must be symmetrical for this to work. It sounds like your wanting to make a non-symmetrical model... symmetrical. You can not use the sculpting system for this.
  15. I wrote their GLTF importer and store content browser plugin for UE4. I like to feel that I contributed to this buy out. 😀

If you’re already familiar with git workflows then you could also take a look at achorpoint. Also made by a ex MAXON employee. https://www.anchorpoint.app

No he did not create XPRESSO. Sebastian was the one who brought Python to Cinema 4D, among many other things.

Sebastian no longer works for Maxon. After an incredible 11 years he is now off on his own creating a very cool artist friendly version control system called Snowtrack. Worth checking out. https://snowtrack.io

There are lots of legal and tax related issues if you are to set up a store. For these reasons I would only ever sell plugins via a site like GumRoad or FastSpring.

Kent what do you mean by this? You guys never had more exposure than you have now. If you have any suggestion, well I was always open to hear them and implement. It might be that I am on my phone but to find it I had to click the hamburger menu icon->Browse->Forums. Then scroll down the page for a while to find the developers section. A while back there was a item right on the main page. But this got removed. I am not complaining at all. I know how hard it is to prioritize what gets shown on the main page.

All the devs at Core4D here are all great. Check out their work in the developer forums here (which is pretty much totally hidden from the site now unless you hunt for it). https://www.core4d.com/ipb/forums/forum/345-programming/ But let’s get back to R25! Very keen to hear what you would all like to see or expect to see…
  23. Scroll down to the Notarization section. I will add more comments here after work. But this can all be automated with a script. It isn’t too bad then. I don’t touch XCode at all anymore. There is no need to even open it once you have it scripted. But setting it up takes time and effort. And costs about $99 a year. https://developers.maxon.net/docs/Cinema4DCPPSDK/html/page_maxonapi_dev_macos.html

Sadly this is the truth now. I also know many developers who have left C4D plugin development. With the cost of subscriptions and the fact that nobody wants to pay to help develop a plugin to its full potential, the number of C++ developers will go down to almost 0. The C++ plugin development market will disappear completely. - The cost of C4D for one reason. Developers now have to either pay a monthly subscription or be eligible to join the registered developer program. If you are a C++ developer then please reach out to support and ask about their developer program. You may be eligible. - Ongoing SDK changes means throwing away lots of code. Anything for R19 backwards needs a re-write. - Every new version of C4D requires building and maintaining a new version of the plugin for customers. - And since Catalina for macOS it is now much much harder to build and release a plugin for OSX. Unless you do it right the OS will block your plugin from loading. - Equipment issues. You have to have multiple machines to be able to build and test these plugins. - Taxes. If you are running a proper registered business you have to do it properly. You can't sell your plugins anywhere legally unless you collect and remit tax to all the different countries in the world. GumRoad and FastSpring do that. But that takes a 8% cut of the sale. - Business costs: If you are running a business then that costs as well. Very hard to break even selling things cheap or giving them away, - New License System: In R20 developers had an easy way to lock to the serial number of C4D. But since R21 onwards every C4D developer now needs to roll their own custom built licensing system. Every Single Developer needs to do this. Reinventing the wheel over and over. It is not easy to do and takes so much time to develop and adds zero benefit to the plugin you are actually trying to sell. - Making C++ plugins for C4D is increasingly become much harder as well. They have a brand new way of doing things that will eventually mean you need to update more and more of your original code. Possibly leading to the inability to have one code base for all version of C4D. - Websites, Support, Documentation, Video Tutorials... the list goes on and on. If you just want to write small plugins that are more workflow oriented and less computationally expensive, then Python is the way to go. But even then you will run into issues as the SDK changes. It takes a very long time to become proficient enough to develop a plugin that is useful enough to even consider trying to sell. Then you have Marketing and selling of your plugin, which is an art form all in itself. For myself I find I am really only able to squeeze in a little bit of dev time here and there. I have an automated build system which is an absolute life saver. But you still need to do websites, videos and support. For anyone still reading this... if you like a plugin or a plugin developer then treat them kindly. Donate where you can, support them anyway you can. Because before long they will all be gone. I see a lot of articles about artists not working for exposure. The act of a plugin developer giving plugins away cheaply or even for free is exactly that. Just to get the word out. But unless they get paid then they will all leave. And they will all leave. It is just not profitable unless you spend 2 years making 1 plugin that hits the ball out of the park first go. But who has the time for that these days. Best of luck to all you devs out there!
