  2. User error / poor UI. When you select front, top, left, perspective etc from the Cameras menu in the viewport, these are actually camera presets which will always use the same values every time they're selected. Effectively resetting your camera back to 36mm every time. IF you want to maintain all your existing settings, don't use these presets, instead select your camera and use the first dropdown menu to select the camera type you want; this will then remember all the other settings you had dialled in. Or even better, dont switch the camera type at all, make use of the 4 views to set up views, then use F1 - F4 to switch between these preset views.
  3. Sounds like a bug - please report it. In the meantime, create a camera with the FOV / focal length you want.

  5. @mahmoud morsy In the video vex code is shown. This can be translated into nodes as well. I would still suggest you explore jiggle defomer and possibly displacer prior to that
  6. Hi everyone, is there a way to maintain or lock the perspective camera focal length after switching to other orthogonal views like top, front, etc? I mostly work with high lens numbers but whenever I switch back from orthogonal views to perspective view it resets back to its default 35mm FOV..

  8. This guy makes a very compelling argument against the "just a tool" theory.

  10. @Hrvoje Hey It's similar to this effect in Houdini
  11. AI is just a tool, look at it as such. Fears of it replacing people is a bit misplaced, it will rather open up completely new technologies and markets driving up the need for people.
  12. If you're still making money using C4D then its viable. If you are just focusing on Mixamo and modeling, I hate to say it but Blender may be a better tool. Besides it having a better modeling toolset especially paired with specific addons, you can get cheap (or free) mocap data for Blender in addition to what Mixamo offers. No one knows when AI will really start to take away jobs, as its still being dabbled in (like NFTs). It's getting good at replacing b-roll video stock footage. For other things it just isn't there yet and it may never be as good as a human artist. I've seen people recommending getting into Houdini as SideFX have embraced Machine Learning quicker than the competitors. Houdini 21 should be interesting.
  13. Looks pretty slick. AI agent, advanced brush for vegetation, AI PBR materials, IES control, etc.
  14. Here is Brick wall generator. More than enough to get one going and expand 🙂 Some controls are available This setup will be built in next yt video by Rob Brick_Core.c4d

    Bird Animator?

I'm looking for an artist to rig and animate some realistic-looking flapping loops. Thanks! DM me with relevant work samples and your rate. : )
  16. Thanks for the reply, that's right however I was looking for an easier more automatic solution.
  17. I've been using Cinema 4D off and on for years. Recently I've let my subscription lapse and I'm considering signing up again. But with the advent and explosion of AI I'm beginning to wonder about whether Cinema 4D is still a viable tool or not. My uses of Cinema 4D have largely been focused on using Mixamo figures and some modeling. Please let me know your opinion of the viability of Cinema 4D today with the advent of AI. Thank you!
  18. 1. Change from icon to list view 2. Click on the Fold button next to home Should get you something like
  19. How do I customize Asset Manager to scaled down node editor? ..FROM THIS -------------- TO THIS............. ...TO THIS???>>....

  21. No reason you couldn't make this work with a material blender and a combination of state, ramp and curvature nodes. You'd have to do it on a per-object basis (so not as slick as the one in Unreal) but it is doable.
  22. Thanks Hrvoje! I cannot believe that I did all this stuff nearly 20 years ago… I sometimes wonder if I should be re-vamping it considering there is so much kids orientated CGI out there, but I am finding it quite rewarding making it look much more up to date. I might even dabble with AI on it - or is that a dirty word? Still trying to figure out how to add a dirt map to the roof…
  23. There are some of us which recall the old version, nice to see you reviving old stuff 🙂
  24. @mahmoud morsy Do you have an example of this in action? Looks like jiggle deformer could be what you are after?
  25. Hi, is it possible to get a material blend between 2 objects like this one in Unreal Engine? https://youtube.com/shorts/8i-Gl4NBVdc?si=PrHAvrMXEGcTxHqv Also is it possible to have a material blend in Y direction on one object?
  26. Thank you Donovan for looking. Ended up going in a little different direction but found I could do all I needed by using a scaling plain effector with a falloff field and then using the rendered result of that as a texture map which then could be manipulated further. Long story short I didn't need it exactly as described but in the end was able to do everything I needed with incredible efficiency. This is what we landed on in the end. Model is of a triangle diatom.
  27. Since I am reworking my old project from so many years ago… I thought I would show peeps here the rework on the tower roof of peg's mansion so that you can compare the old one with the new one - I like to think it is an improvement… Whilst I am at it perhaps someone might tell me how I might add a dirt map to the tiles collectively since each of the roof tiles is an individual tile but cloned which took quite a while to create but looks so much better.
  28. Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to recreate a smear effect in Cinema 4D, similar to the traditional animation smear effects seen in Blender or the old CA Motion Stretch Deformer plugin for C4D. I've been experimenting with both Xpresso and Scene Nodes to build this effect cause i know its hard to make it like a deformer with pyhton, However, I haven't been able to get it working — even after trying with ChatGPT and doing lots of tests, it still doesn't work because i dont have all the knowledge. if anyone could help me please. In a similar setup, I'd really appreciate any help — and if it's something time-intensive, I'm open to discussing it as a paid.
