  2. Thank you Donovan for looking. Ended up going in a little different direction but found I could do all I needed by using a scaling plain effector with a falloff field and then using the rendered result of that as a texture map which then could be manipulated further. Long story short I didn't need it exactly as described but in the end was able to do everything I needed with incredible efficiency. This is what we landed on in the end. Model is of a triangle diatom.
